I'm a carrier in Denver (we have 26 stations) and we are so short of carriers that CCAs are getting converted to PTF straight out of training. Which is good for them, except that some of these carriers can't do the job. Some of them can only get parcels done in eight hours and they bring back all the DPS and flats. The political mail is no joke!! It's literally everyday. All the city regulars where I'm at are getting OT everyday the last few weeks cuz of that shit. In at 7 to run parcels, case, drive out my relays and start the route nd by that time it's like 11am lol its nutss
Let's get this money
Political mail is basically the same thing as full coverage like with ad papers. Your basically going to every house to drop off a flyer. I dont even case that shit half the time just because it takes forever to do so. Just drop it in buckets and run it seperatly like i do ad papers
@@Matt-lp8de if it runs I'll take it as a third bundle sometimes
@@MailmanNick those flyers are no joke. Super thin and a pain in the butt to case. Better off just taking em. Although one day i got a stack of flyers that went to every house, but it started at the end of the route to the beginning. So it was in order backwards. Im over like God must hate me today lol
How do cca on new or unfamiliar routes handle parcels? (Organization/identifying)
Load truck feature, group by street, even/off numbers, use tubs to separate
Sup Nick! Funny story, so when I 1st started watching your videos, I had always wondered why you started your intro that way about 204b's. But now I do. LoL! 😂
Lol my 204bs have been cool but it's a funny joke
1.5years as a cca here. It gets better trust me.
I put in my application for cca and I believe they want my background check… they want me to set up a gis account. Is this a temporary position Nick ? I was reading the job description and read something about this position May lead to a career position?
It's technically part time but you'll probably be working 60 hours. 2 years max you'll be converted to career
I have my finger print on Monday.
I'm nervous and excited at the same time
Is it easy to learn the route?
It takes me usually 3 times to have an idea where I'm going. Everyone is different
Hey Nick how long dose it normally take take it has been two months since my fingerprints and I still have not heard back from them
Took me a month but I've heard longer
@@MailmanNick so is that normal I have contacted the application support and they just told me once it clears the post office will contact me
@@jasoncurtis3492 if you lived in other states, had multiple jobs, something on your record, ect can affect how long it takes.
@@MailmanNick I live in Southern California there is nothing on my record

I’m going to hit my year November 4th any tips for me

Does USPS CCA position have like deliver by foot ,not just be a driver
You walk, drive, and everything in between. I walk over 20 miles a day
@@MailmanNick that means both I need to role? Everly new applicant needs to pass small truck road test or not ?or just I can choose waking or being driver! ok thanks replied
I just want be a mail carrier on foot, I also must take the truck driving training too?
@@jiachengxian4244 yes
So I applied last week. Accepted a conditional job offer, but I didn't realize that the position was part time. Luckily I just did fingerprints yesterday so theres still time to change it. Hopefully the cca positions I applied for come up with conditional job offers soon.
It's part time but you'll be working 60+ hours a week and get some insurance
@@MailmanNick I hope so. I just moved and am going to have to move again for the job. Gonna need all the money I can get. It's a rural carrier associate/regular service route position.
took the assesment got 97 for 474 and just submitted background check so lets see if i get hired or not
Do they record you in the van or truck? Because i be swearing at other drivers
The scanner can hear you but no camera in trucks... Yet
A supervisor told me the mail has to be delivered in four hours. Honestly if that is the case it's not worth rushing yourself to death and working without lunch.
A route is 6 hours what are they talking about
Just remember guys, it’s all worth it in the end. I got word today that they’re converting me along with 5 others on the 19th of this month!
Congrats
@@MailmanNick Thanks Nick, your videos really helped me out especially when I was getting hired and just starting out last year. Keep doing what you do brother.
Im bout to apply and want to work 9am-5pm will they make me work past 5pm even if that’s my schedule cuz I have stuff to do past 6pm and if they make me work overtime hours that I don’t want ,then I prolly won’t apply but lmk
Overtime is mandatory
UPDATE- I am on my 2nd week of taking routes alone and supposedly i am given a 4 hour route that is taking me 6-8 hours... i dont know if they are lying to me or not. I noticed i don't get many hours and overtime is barely given. Debating if i should quit or keep going..
Feeling like quitting is typical. Keep pushing
Having trouble getting my RCA packages delivered without missing ALOT! ANY TIPS?
Use the load truck feature
Flag your packages in your case with flats
@CCA Nick was just wondering how are you handling 12/60 grievances at your office (assuming you are still union rep) if applicable 🤓
I'd rather get the penalty pay. When you file those grievances, management will cut your hours. I'd rather get the hours.
@@MailmanNick idk bruh out here I'm Denver I've been filing grievances for like six months and they just pay out the remedy pay...kind of a catch 22 and sad the inconsistency across the nation. We out here got regulars working 65-80 hours a week, myself included, and I just got no idea how to approach it especially when people put themselves out there for the penalty and grievance pay. It really draws lines on things. I also sadly believe CCA are exempt from grievance pay via 12/60. Would really wish you all got paid more starting since it's a competitive market. Anyways I've rattled on enough. Keep up the content green one and enjoy the positivity you spread. Life is what you make it and this job is not for everyone. 😎
@@adamlopez4866 thank you for the support. I had someone tell me "pick your battles". I'm here to make as much money as I can. I wish CCA's made PTF after 90 days and starting pay was more. Hopefully things will change soon.
@@MailmanNick Denver ain't even got CCA. You come in regular or ptf BECAUSE we so short hahaha
@@adamlopez4866 lol yeah in the city it's the same way

Weeeee I made regular!!! Yaaay I got my own shite route in the worst hood!!! Super my life suuuu......
I applied I am worried 😟 about not getting enough hours because my office is small
They can always send you to help other offices
Hello Nick, thank you for your honest feedback with the CCA. I have a queston , i applied for the position and i got my fingerprints done ( i had to travel to FLorida). How far am i from the process to get hired? i am itching to get started
Takes at least a month before orientation
@@MailmanNick thank you Nick, so orientation means i start training right? do they give you notice ahead of time
@@daghostyTV orientation is just knowledge of the post office. Academy you go to train. When you get to your office you'll start actually working
do they still pay you if you dont make it back to the office in time?
You get paid for every second you're on the clock. If you're struggling they will have a carrier go help you. If that happens a lot though carriers will start to hate you. In the beginning it's not a big deal though.
Hey mailman Nick, do you know if CCA’s get COLAs? Or is that only for career employees?
Only for careers and certain areas like Puerto Rico and Alaska
How long have you been at the post office?
2 years and 3 months
He's honest. The post office is failing and losing money, has been for years. Applying now gets you a miserable job, where you give up any and almost all free time. The money is there now if you want to work overtime, but the postal service itself is dying. The postal service is an awful job, Nick found a job that works for him. It's dogshit folks
I ain't getting enough hours for this to be worth it, no holiday leave no sick leave, no benefits, no retierment plan until or when I become a regular as a RC. God knows when that might be, I have people at my station 6 years still no space for them to be regular. I thought I'd be banking it I thought I'd be working 6 days a week...I'll give it till January 2023
Get on the city side our contract is better

Hi Nick, I applied in CCA so what are the specific things they looking for to do it in a permanent career position after 360 days, and are they giving benefits to non career employees like paid time off, any medical, religious accommodation etc?
You'll be career after the 1 year mark?
Almost 2 years in bro? Are you still a CCA or have you converted already? You have a lot of really great and informative videos. Keep up the good work!
Will be 2 years end of December
Holy crap man that’s crazy! You should automatically convert at your 24 month mark. I just finished my 5 day break and I’ll be converting hopefully in February I’m like at #10
@@reybenedicto2629 I'll be PTF. Hopefully regular by end of 2023
