This series has really blown me away. I loved mighty morphin as a kid, but it hasn’t aged well. This series seems to capture everything I felt as a kid, and puts a grittier modern spin on it. I read a few single issues, then immediately started picking up all the deluxe editions!
where did you pick them up from? They’re been out of stock for a while and I don't wanna buy single issues, I'll be waiting for 2 years now!

I always wanted to be the leader. So I always chose the red ranger. Then the white ranger came into scene and it was white and red. Depending on my mood. Great review as always.

I was born in 89. The original was my favorite also. I think that goes for most though. Except for mabey the new gen. Great vid. I've only recently started collecting the Powers Rangers comics because it brought back memories.

@@dakotamike I don't think it's as good as MMPR but it's a different book. Since it's a prequel to when they're starting out, it's more character driven than action that MMPR has.
Hopefully with Go Go Power Rangers ending this month, they'll release hardcovers for them. If they do, they'll probably be able to do it in 3 deluxe editions.

Cool that Boom Studios has done such a fantastic job with the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series and even better that they put them into hardcover deluxe edition. Appreciate the heads up on the release of these, great review GMC.

Hey Gem, I watched this video the other day and being 31 and myself growing up in the 90's loving the original series like you, decided to give vol 1 a shot as they are back in stock on amazon. Just finished it and exactly like u said mate, was a blast! No goofyness or campness of the show but lots of great writing and artwork. Since following you, you've cost me a lot of money my friend haha next on order is wolverine omnibus vol 1 as now back in reprint :-)
its like they took whats good out the show, amplified that, and removed what was cheesy.

Personally i have always loved the Power Rangers but always thought about their potential if they were talking a little bit more serious and made for a mature audience kind of like the Batinthesun UA-cam videos. Anyway great review man as usual. And bro get the statue idea going because that would be insane, you could get a head switch out for older tommy and an arm switch out holding a rangers helmet.

I just bought shattered grid delux edition finally and I’m excited to start reading, but do I need to read year 1 & 2 first so I don’t miss out on any of the exciting small details?
There’s other stories that set up Lord Drakkon and the World of the Coinless in previous issues. If you want to read less, I suggest getting the Rise of Drakkon tradeback which is all the essentials
are these in reading order? moreso talking about Shattered Grid, since it also includes issues from go go power rangers

Pretty sure just like you I only watched the season one of Power Rangers but I honestly couldn’t remember the episodes like the other 90s shows. Comprehensive review as usual!
I haven't read any of the single issues but collect the novels. I might be wrong, but I feel like I'm missing some details from the issues in the novels. I enjoy the novels regardless, but I just got these -deluxe collections- omnibuses so I'm hoping it's more cohesive.

You mentioned the show's music being corny. You should check out "Power Rangers Redux" by Ron Wasserman on Spotify. He created the original music from the earlier 90s, doing everything: lyrics, singing, instruments, producing, engineering. Twenty years later in 2012 he re-recorded a lot of the tracks for "Redux". I think they really rock. It might change your mind on the "corny" factor. I especially like the track called "I Will Win".
Looking good. Maybe buy a paperback and check it out from that, before i go buy something big like that.

I really wish I had picked up those Year One and Two books when they first came out. I just have to hope they eventually do an Omnibus collecting them all in one.
I read the first 14 issues before I dropped individual comics and really enjoyed it. It was like they were taking the Sentai approach by making them story driven, but keeping the spirit intact.
I also love that they included Fiveman in the book.
There's also LCSD variants of year one and two now Gemnight! Year One uses the cover of Rita holding the green helmet and Year Two uses the cover of Red Ranger w the gold shield. Now I cant decide if I'm gonna sell the two I already had or not since I love all 4 covers lol

There is also New York Comic Con 2019 variants of all three books. They have black covers with the Power Coins on them (Dragon Coin for Year One, Tyrannosaurus Coin for Year Two, Black Dragon Coin for Shattered Grid). If you want to get technical the retail reprints of Year One and Year Two also have minor differences from the first editions (different copyright dates and Saban Brands logo replaced with the Hasbro logo). Then there was also another variant of Year One that was a Convention/Boom website exclusive back from 2017 that has the same cover as the retail release, but came with a Lord Drakkon cardboard slipcase and was autographed by Kyle Higgins. A limited number of those were also autographed by Haim Saban and various other Saban Brands staff connect to the franchise.
@@josephjones7828 yeah those black cover variants aren't really my bag because PR is supposed to have tons of color imo. Would've liked the Saban original printings, but I'm glad I got to buy the reprints and the LCSD covers to take my pick since I couldn't get that sweet Lord Drakkon slipcase

Wow o wow these look so awesome as a 90s kid I completely agree my love of power rangers was always that orginal first series on tv also like the first power rangers movie with von goo I think something goo lol but man great review as always the artwork looks sick and it makes me even more excited for the power rangers/TMNT mashup coming from boom but I gotta find out how to read these I’ve been wanting to find a new power rangers book to get back into but singles are way ahead obviously awesome to know they took all the campy shit and just made it bad ass !

Dammit I was Hoping I could avoid getting these books. What I keep hearing nothing but good things.
What issues and comics are in all of them? I already know that year one collects MMPR 0 - 12, but are there (in any of the 3 books) any other strories like the annuals, the 25th anniversary special or the free comic book day issue? Could you give as a detailed list of all the issues in all 3 compilations? THANKS!!
The year 2 has 13-24 and Annual 2016 and 2017. The shattered grid deluxe has both stories from Go Go Power Rangers and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the free comic book day and the shattered grid finalie one shot. There is a separate collection that had the various annuals and one shots called Lost chronicles that has two volumes out so far.
If you want to know what a collection has, you could go to Amazon and check the description.

They are different...its pretty much like 3 vol 1-3, with the gold one being volume 3. But it still works as a stand alone book since its like an event.

yeah, the last 10 years of power rangers shows have been pretty bad, if you wanna see a good power rangers series i recommend time force or rpm
