    I'll meet you soon! I got a real treat for you. I have a full set of drawings I made in 1990 for Cobra Restorers while I was in Engineering School at Southern Tech. Mr. Chuck Gutkee (SP?)

    I visited FFR on the way back from Cape Cod last summer with my wife and daughter and Dave gave us essentially the same factory tour when he saw us in the showroom. Dave is the real deal and truly loves these cars and working with people. Great to see this video as it highlights how sophisticated the company has become and what a great guy Dave is. Also great to see how he gives attribution to the engineers and other people in the company as they have a really great crew. I built half of a MK4 about 10 years ago and had to sell it to clear my plate for another big project, but I would definitely buy a FFR kit over anything on the market because the engineering and build quality is the best and they have the most user generated content online and in the forum to help with the build process.

    Great video Kevin and Dave. My family and I built my Mark IV in 2019. My four grandkids are home schooled and every Thursday was “shop day” where they pitched in to help. Those memories are priceless.

    Was ready to pull the trigger on a Roadster a few years back but life changed and the project got shelved. I've wanted one since the Arntz Cobra was the Hot Rod cover car in June of 1980. I'm about to retire so I've now got the time, the tools, and the skills. I need to step up.

    Very cool and I can't wait to see the F9 when it's rolled out. But I doubt I'll be able to afford to build one and so mad, or perhaps maybe to say disappointed to be more honest but I wanted to come to your school and buy the 818 kit and you discontinued selling it just as I retired, and had the money to do so. That was a few years ago now and I'm sorry to say I'm still not over it. But best of luck anyway I wish you all the best !!!

    I'm curious to see if you guys will keep the 818 in production. Possibly redesigning it to work with a golf ti drivetrain would be a great way to keep it alive as wrx donors disappear. If you wanted to adapt it to the mk7 platform a lot of cad work is already done as the guys at Doyle Motor Works have already prototyped using a golf donor in a mid engine configuration. The 818 is a very enticing model from a driving perspecitive but not so great based on the donor vechicle required. A modern donor would be a great way to solve that.

    Having recently finished a gen2 Daytona coupe, it’s interesting to see the improvements in the manufacturing of new models. I thought I heard your frame shop supervisor mention that parts could be supplied to repair crash damaged frames. I’m assuming that only applies to current models or can parts for older generation models be supplied?

    • @factoryfive
      @factoryfive  11 місяців тому +3

      Depends on the part. For the Coupe chassis, all tooling has been updated for the Gen 3 frame. In the event of an accident, send us photos of the car, and the team will see how we can help repair it.

    Love love the truck. I will be a customer soon. An idea or suggestion. The spare tire... Can you make a mount on the back of the truck like a jeep with a swing to swing the tire out of the way to have access to the back of the truck?
    I understand I have no clue what I'm asking if it is costly or hard to fabricate

      My thought was to utilize the bed more than for just holding the tire. I'm in texas and will be buying your truck soon. I would like to be able to throw some golf clubs in the bed....LOL. A crazy thought, I pray I am not commenting a sin with my next words, I am F5 lover and a Ford loyalist. I have ever ford vehicle. Has Factory Five ever thought of using (donor) the Ford Taurus SHO or Ford Explorer ST to build an all wheel drive F5 Cobra, with a Ford Eco boost V-6 400hp to 500hp factory engine. I am a V8 guy, but I love all wheel drive and thought maybe there might be something there for F5 to explore with your hot rods. I wish yall the best. Take care.

    • @factoryfive
      @factoryfive  11 місяців тому +4

      We had thought about making a GT40 kit in the early 2000s, but opted to make our own supercar design instead. That became the GTM, and we do not have any plans right now to add a GT40 kit to our product line. Stay tuned to our website and social media pages as we'll post updates on what we're working on as the info becomes available.
