Thank you Dave. This was such an amazing opportunity and such a powerful part of the healing process for our family. May my dad Scott's legacy live on and make an impact on other families and hope others can build Factory Five kit cars together worldwide and make other dreams a reality.
You have a lovely family. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Great job, Josh! Nicely done, sir.
Aloha from Hawai'i, Deepest sympathies and condolences on the loss of your dad Scott. What an awesome project to honor your dad. You now have the most priceless family heirloom money can't buy that can be passed down to following generations. I'm sure this car has a honored spot at the old family homestead. Strong family bonds are so important and this project made those bonds even stronger. Best wishes to you and the whole Hespeler clan.
Great job on the car she’s beautiful I know your dad is proud
Josh,
I know your Father has to be looking down from the Heavens with a big proud smile on his face, as I watched the video of you and your family rallying together to help each other in their many different skills, I could think of so many ways others can be inspired in the same accomplishments. What a wonderful Family you have. Thank you, Josh, and all the Hespeler's for sharing a snapshot in their lives. I enjoyed it. God Bless.
Scott was an amazing man and wonderful uncle. Thank you Factory Five for letting the world know it and sharing his love of cars with others.
Thank you to your family for sharing one of the most inspirational stories on the internet.
Damn Exhaust fumes making my eyes water lol
mine too....
Yep
You can count me in as well!!!
Sniff sniff...me too...
Not me, but my glasses don't seem to be working very well, all of a sudden.
I've seen this before but I decided to watch it again. Dave Smith is certainly aware of his cars having a way of bringing father's and sons together as well as the rest of the family. Although I doubt that Dave Smith will ever know the full extent of what he has accomplished. When a time in this country when families are coming apart more than they ever have. And for guys to be able to build something in their garage with their kids and family brings people together. It's really a remarkable accomplishment and I doubt that Mr Smith set out to do that. Nonetheless is part of what he's accomplished. It's an amazing thing I wish I could I could do that.
David Smith and Factory Five are America. V8"s, tire smoke, passion and giving back.
How refreshing!!! Finally a car show that ties family, community and hot rods together!! Thanks Dave, makes me even more proud to be a Factory Five owner - Mick
Ive had 3 early GT-350s and always aspired to own a Cobra. Well 289 Cobras shot past me in a single year. Thats why factory five is so special maybe a Daytona would be better for all weather and still satisfy. Thankyou Mr. Cool Dave.
Never thought I would get a lump in my throat over a drag race.
I wish i could just find the opportunity to help people like this. This really gets me in the feels
Let's give a LITTLE credit to the red dog Hemi. And Josh? For a guy that's never thrashed a 12 second car down the quarter you done your Dad proud. Not to say the rest of your family and friends. A win for all involved. Gotta love it!
"Let's go pick a fight!" I love it.
Got me in tears is all I can say, I absolutely love stories like this
This is what happens when you, put together an IDEA... The sound the wind in your hair, the performance... after everything and you get off the car, your left with an AWESOME FEELING AND A SMILE... God bless you guys...
Now I want to say is, I want one...
Man love that grey cobra with the yellow stripes at the end of the video!
This is exactly why Im saving up my money to get one of these Built, not bought cars. Im so impressed not only with the finished product line but it creates communities and memories for some of the baddest Hot Rods on pavement. Its so great to see the Hespeler family come together and finish out with a bang, Scott would of wanted that. Great Job Dave!!!
Since I was a very young boy, my father and I always talked about building a Factory Five Cobra. I'm going to find a way, somehow to be sure and do it with my daughters. Thank you for sharing this story and God Bless you!!! You have the best job in the world.
WHAT A GREAT STORY. HE WAS ABLE TO FULFILL HIS DAD'S DREAM,,VERY COOL.
Came across this by accident. Man's man and very likeable guy doing something really good. Respect DF.
Wow, got a tear in my eye, great story and massive respect to Dave and Scott’s family
awesome story and your saying has been a staple in my garage for decades.... built not bought wins EVERY TIME!!!!! regardless of whom takes the green flag ya cant beat a built car
Just came across this video and I'm really glad I did. With all the crap going on in the world today, the virus, the economy, politics, etc., it's nice to see people connect on an emotional level and find that commonality we have with one another that's often overlooked. Hats off to Factory Five and the Hespeler family for reminding us of all the good still left in the world. Good job guys. Much appreciated.
That has to be the sweetest, coolest hot rod story ever. That car is a badass.
Wow!!! Didn’t realize this would be such a great vid.
thats just great im 2 years late but you guys at FACTORY 5 do some amazing work i cant wate to start building a 33 threw you guys ben a dream since i was a kid.
Thank you for living your jobs and doing what you do Factory Five, I cannot wait to buy a Hot Rod truck from you guys within the next year or two. My future goal is to build and own one, I’m going back to school to get a better education and career in electrical engineering. I was ASE certified Technician before I was recalled back into the Army and then I was blown up in Afghanistan during Combat. I’m a retired Purple Heart Combat Veteran and I look forward to owning and driving one of your kits in the near future! I want to put a Bluepoint 428 with a TK Manual Trans in my future build. The sound the 428 makes, can’t wait!
God Bless y’all @ Factory Five! Looking forward to attending your weekend class as well!
Sir I have to admit prior to watching this video I was not a big fan of your product but after watching it you now have a fan for life and soon hope to be a customer!!! AWESOME
This was so touching Thank you!
Great video and such a heartwarming story. As a fellow FF5 builder and owner, I love seeing other people's stories who are passionate about these cars and the great community of people. Thanks for pulling this together, can't wait to see what follows.
I'm a simple man. I would pick the Cobra in a heartbeat.
Ran across this video researching the idea of building a coupe with my son. I believe this video sped up the process!
Great video guys. Probably the best yet.
Really well filmed and edited. 👍🏼
Great deed in a great video. Thanks
The luxury of being available and able to do things as a family for something like this. The majority never get a garage of their own, let alone a capable family. He should know that passion is rarely enough. Consider yourself very lucky that your life plays out as it does. Dying is not special, everyone does it. I think many do not know truly how the lower 80% actually get by. Wishin' n hoping is all that most have. Never getting any dream fulfilled, even having worked for years.
Simply, thank you for sharing this. Seeing stories like this renews the fire to keep working on our projects
I can’t stop blubbering. This inspired me to begin the Fast Five MkIV journey with my boys.
Had me in bloody tears this episode. Great people. 👍
Man I wish this was a tv series awesome car stories out in the USA!
That was just awesome!
This is such a sweet and "feel good" story.
Great story! Thanks for sharing, Dave!
Very well done! This is exactly the kind of story that we, as a nation, need to focus on right now.
Love the video, love the car, love the story. So many people are brought together with cars, many others don't really understand it. I never really got to build anything with my dad before he died so this story hits me pretty hard. I've been tinkering with cars and motorcycles my entire life so I "get it". Been working on wind turbines for the last 11 years but recently been thinking I just need to get back to doing something I'm passionate about, working on cars...thanks again for the story and hugs to the Hespeler family.
Fantastic story, loved every minute, i love these cars, i'm 73 and they still make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, respect from England
You’re right Dave. This is an awesome story. Thanks for sharing.
Great story, thanks for sharing.
I had to come back and watch this video again...yes it is that good!
Great video, awesome story, thank you Dave/Factory Five Racing!
...the story is about the culture of the gearheads from the past...and how really to keep the legacy moving forward in the age where the kids can continue from the past...Factory 5 you guys are great...
Wow, so touching! I knew nothing about factory 5, or it’s team, you grew a fan.... thank you
Wonderful story !!! Enjoyed every minute. Thank you " 👍
Bravo *Factory Five Racing* thanks for bringing us along. God Bless.
Please continue with these stories. They need to be heard/seen. Great job with the first one.
What a great story!!!! Hope to see more of these! 👍
A rare breed indeed,,,,a company that not only is proud of what they produce,,,,but also proud and honoured of those who buy there product,,,
Well done !!!!
As a F5 MKIII owner, Thank you! I felt the emotion from this family.
Speaks volumes about FFR. My son and I are in the middle of building a project for him. By the end of the year our plans are to build a big block MK4. Wouldn't consider purchasing from another company.
Thanks for sharing the video
Man this has me in tears as I write, you are all a great bunch of people, I have had the opposite experience and it hit me very hard watching how kind people can be.
high 11's on his first pass ever is fantastic! I had a Nova that did 11.80's and it was nearly uncontrollable.
This was so awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Great video!!! His Dad was looking down happy as can be!
awesome story and love the sense of family. Beautiful cars and beautiful sentiment.
That '33 Ford hot rod kit with Hemi power and manual trans is timelessly NASTY!! It was like the old man got on the gas for him in this last leg and found the last few hp needed.
As if I needed another reason to choose Factory Five for my kit! What a great story about a families love and a way to honor someone’s memory.
Wow! I was expecting it to be cool watch, but I am blown away! Would definitely watch this on the 'tele' every week.
Wow , what an awesome story, thanks for sharing.
Just awesome can't think of another way to describe this video at the moment, what a tribute to the family and all concerned, feel like packin my port and coming over. I built a small number of Cobra's here in OZ in the early 90s for export only, it's still a joy to see them especially the high quality cars that Factory Five produce.
What a great video of a great family and a fantastic built NOT BOUGHT car. Amazingly well built hotrod. His time was good and I imagine that a professional driver would get the time down. He did an amazing run all the same and did his dad proud!!! Great family!! Great Company!!
I’m glad I watched this video on my own
🥺
What an awesome build and a better story behind the build
Great story, great car! I lost my dad as well, so this hits home. Congrats Josh on the win, kudos to Factory 5 for putting the event on!! Very, very cool!

Wow! What a great video. That’s what life is all about, bringing family and people together. Dave, I salute you and the factory five company.
Awesome work with the episode, and great story!
What a great story! You could see the genuine affection and appreciation expressed in this story. Many thanks to the Hespeler family and to Dave Smith and everyone at Factory Five for sharing this fantastic experience. It is my goal to one day build a Factory Five car of my dreams too.
Great video! Thanks!
Unbelievable, I cannot believe I have never seen this before. Josh and family, you are all amazing!!!!! Dave, what a way to step up as an owner of a great company. Love it!!!
Love your passionate job Dave. I envy your in such a good way!
Honestly, this is a great story. But the drag race matchup against a stock 911 Carrera ? I’m not a huge Porsche fan but a 911 Turbo S would have been way more intriguing!
David, I have been a fan for decades. Saving for my coupe soon. Liked that last part of you driving and shifting gears!
Wow Josh, that is something that can’t be undone, and it’s there for all to see, good luck to you and your family, ...
Beautiful story. Absolutely gorgeous car. I bet he could hear it from up there.
Beautifully done. Great story.
You're the man Josh! Way to do Scott proud....
So inspiring. I love you guys! And Dave Smith is an awesome dude...can't wait to buy my FF.

Class video by class guys - good job FFR and congrats Josh, nice run big guy! God Bless you guys!
Great Video! A wonderful tribute to a real car guy and a testimonial to the kind of company FFR represents. Built, not bought. I am building my second Cobra and first Factory Five Roadster, I'm stoked to get it done next year after I retire to Thailand. This time, I'm never selling it.
Great job Josh......your Dad built one fine machine
Keep the episodes coming. Excellent!
