I carry very small simulator things to this one. I think people underestimate how much damage something small, light, basic like this can easily to to someone in a "SD" situation. I own the "3 spades" and in a grapple with how small they are with the retention rings there not coming out of your hand. And will cause mayor deep cuts. This is the first time I've seen this one and I'm really liking the design 👍🏻
@@tacticaltavern exactly. Not to mention those scalpel like blades hitting someone's hands or between the fingers.. even if you dont Kno how to "knife fight" I wouldn't wanna be in the way of a slashing motion eather lol (all is SD ofcourse)
Great review, after seeing this I'm now torn between the Feather K and Bastinelli's Pika. Love the look of it though...and can only afford one. What would be your personal preference?
@@tacticaltavern Does the 'more aggressive curve' prohibit thrusting? Seems that the feather tries to give you best of both worlds, or am I wrong? Still a lot of money for a short polished blank, even if it is M390
Great vid. I wonder how you came to the conclusion these are made from M390 steel? I'm seeing some retailers saying it is indeed M390 while others say it is D2? Microtech doesn't describe the steel type/s being used on their website or on the blades themselves :/ This is disheartening to say the least. I bought (and have) one now and I paid $217 for it. I bought the last one. Later I found another site that had them available $307 and ordered one from them. I wanted one for each pocket cause that would be cool or just to collect if their going to be limited. However! If these are made from super cheap ingot D2 tool steel not even CPM D2 I'm pretty sure I'll be returning the $307 if not both :/ P.s. My $217 blade says "Feather K" on it.
Have no fear I asked Bastinelli Himself and he confirmed it is M390 I admit I have been saying it wrong - it is the Feather-K (that makes more sense too) I love the idea of getting 2! 😂👌🏼 I like your style 🔪
Call microtech and ask they’ll be happy to tell you 👍🏼 they have really good customer service every time I have questions about anything I’ll just call and get an answer in all of less than 5m. They are seriously happy to help
I contacted Microtech yesterday regarding the steel and they answered me the following: „We have run them with D2 before, yes. It depends on what we have on hand at the time. We have been running most things in M390 lately.“ I bought a Feather K and wasn’t sure about the Steel. My S/N is 0614 and built 02/2023. I‘m still not really any smarter. I mean a small Knife like this with D2 Steel for 300 Euro‘s is crazy. But i like this little Bastard!
Mines got brown spots had to return it, on top that clip it’s very hard to open once it’s on your pants pocket, when you try to pull out it rips the pockets not mentioning my $600 LV belt! Don’t buy beware
Yes and I will be the first to admit I called it the wrong name 😂 its K not X… Bastinelli made a knife called the Feather a while back and turned it into a Karambit with the help of Microtech for production and thus the Feather K-arambit was born 🔪💪🏼
Just bought the black DLC version for EDC. Bad-a** looking blade! What I like is that it can be utilized like a karambit for self-defense, but the blade profile lends itself nicely for light EDC work (opening mail, packages, etc). Legally speaking, it'd be easier to pass this off as my mail opener as opposed to an ACTUAL karambit.
Honestly all the serration only looks cool and for trick use. Real knife use/fighting serrations are the worst nightmare. They chew up your hand and fingers. Smooth ergonomic "locking" curves are the answer. The old world karambit are all smooth wood scales.
Ah gotcha the jimping on the handle! But I suppose serrations also can get caught up in clothing and what not For real world hard use I can see the added grip texture be a downside for comfortable use
@@tacticaltavern the fact that I own multiple microtech knives and just this one in a period of 2 weeks of carrying it the handle developed rusty brown spots, that to me ITS NOT HIGH QUALITY STEEL! 😈

You should try to get your hands on an MDV plus 1 from Skallywag Tactical. I ordered one from them last month, can't wait to get it.
It took a month to ship out?
This knife combined with the Bastinelli Sin = MDV plus 1
If I take good care and am careful with the blade’s tip will it last a lifetime of use?
Yes I love using this for opening packages and has proved to be durable 👍🏼🔪
I just got mine today ! And I’m in love I got the black version
Oooh hell yeah!!! Black version is clean af!
Congrats on the new blade 🔥🗡️

Yes it’s very clean and people fail to realize how organic medium compresses so a 1” blade can cut over 3” deep in certain areas

I would lean towards the Pika Karambit
Its easier to carry, lighter, and a more aggressive curve too
Its also faster to deploy from the sheath!

Great unbiased review I Love the honesty I had the same hesitations but seems like a cool knife.
Thank you and Appreciate you watching!!
Deployment, comfort when carrying matter....what's your opinion on Tops , Cali cobra?
I have seen it - never got one
Opted for the new Unzipper instead for added versatility
I really like the knife design, but I don't know about the sheath. Especially since it blocks part of the ring.
Very fair
It was explained to me that it allows for a more anatomical grip from deployment - this being said I still widened mine out ✅
Solid Wet of a Watch , just bought. Thanks
