    I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.

    The Kubotas look well built and simple.

      @@edmontonkubota Hi. I'm a small landscape business owner/starter, on a budget. I'm looking for a quality residential zero turn cause I can barely afford that one, let alone a commercial one.
      Most of my customers are on a monthly plan so you can imagine what kind of grass I'm dealing with.. Anyway, it's usually a 30" tall, thick and mostly wet grass that needs to be dealt with. So I'm looking for a cheap zero turn that can tackle this kind of tall, wet grass. I guess I need more power and taller deck. Quality of the cut is definitely not my priority. Also I need the smallest deck there is, 36" if possible because my lots aren't too big, but they are always behind something, around 3 fences and you have to pass through 3 doors to get to it... So, any suggestions? I know I ask a lot and my budget is measly, but a good recomendation from a pro like you would be much appreciated. Thank you.

      @@markbrisec3972 Hi Mark, thanks for reaching out. Your question is a difficulty one to answer if you're on a tight budget as 30" of grass is going to be quite difficult to cut. First thing I did is remove the shute spring and attach a cord to flip it up to get past tight places.
    Second, the deck had a harmonic vibration. The belt tensioner setup has too much play. It wobbles up and down and made a hell of a racket. I removed the pivot bush and filed a bee's width off it's height. Lubricated the pivot and bolted down. Now it's firmer, but still moves but only in direction it should and alot less noise and vibration.

    • @edmontonkubota
      @edmontonkubota  3 роки тому +1

      That's a great question. I had to look deep to find out but I guess Kubota puts in the "T" to signify the extra width of the rear tire on that model. So the tire will be 12" wide versus the 9.5" on the KW models.

    These are excellent videos, I also watched the video about the z200 series. I am a homeowner with just under an acre of irrigated lawn to mow. What would be the best choice between 48" models? I was thinking of the z231 with Kohler and suspension seat. Is moving to the z412KW with suspension seat worth the additional cost and what exactly would the benefits be?

    • @edmontonkubota
      @edmontonkubota  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks for the nice feedback, i truly appreciate it. I've owned both series and personally like the Z412 the best. The Kawasaki engine starts so easily and runs so smooth it was the difference maker. It has a higher grade transmission, large front gauge wheels, and a more robust frame. I only had one issue with me Z100 (now Z200) and it was the park brake safety switch that failed. The foldable rops on the Z400 is nice as well if you have low hanging trees to get under.

    Not much of an upgrade from my Z127S I bought around 2013. This design does suck for our country property. It is very rough even with the suspension seat. The low profile tires don't help. My next mower I will most likely go with one with actual suspension. Overall the mower has been reliable. Did have the starter motor bend its shaft, one pully replaced, one belt, two front tires, and a part of the deck lift stress fractured and snapped and I had to weld it back together. Also the deck wheels should be supported by both sides because the mount there bends over time. The rest was maintenance. Still on the original battery (battery tender over winter). Pretty tough mower overall and handles our 5 acres.

The Z422 has a 42" mower and is really built for small acreages, city properties or municipality mowing where a small unit is easier to maneuver. These 400 series mowers have pros and cons. They are probably not what you want for commercial mowing…just not heavy duty enough. I use mine that way, but only part time. The frame flexes, the mower deck gauge wheels are not well supported and will bend and wear out; the Kawasaki FS engines are OK but don’t have a great air filtration system; the seat looks nice but has zero suspension without the added option. On the positive side, it’s relatively quick for a low end transaxle, and the deck and parking brake operation is great. The phone holder works well. The “low profile” tires do better on side hills, combined with the fuel tank below the seat. The sight glass fuel gauge isn’t ideal but better than nothing. The blades are durable, but the spindles are not. I’ve replaced two bearings already with only 350 hours on the machine. Cut quality is good, but the high lift style blades generate a ton of dust. The deck height adjustment system is terrible, just like on the small Kubota tractors with belly mowers. The knob steps easily get clogged with debris and it won’t turn. So I like it? Yes, and it’s worth considering that it’s half the money of a full commercial unit. See Z700 series for an upgrade although it looks like they have the same chassis.

    • @edmontonkubota
      @edmontonkubota  Рік тому +1

      We call these "Light Commercial" so yes there are more options for more commercial units that are designed to run all day, everyday. Of course the price takes a big jump moving to one of those. We have had a lot of success selling these to both commercial and non-commercial clients with consideration for type of use and hours.
