Stay tuned for more crazy!
I know that there's no way you paid for all that shit you got under the hood. There's no way you paid for what's under the hood of those cars by doing tune-ups and selling groceries. Whatever it is you're in on, I want in on it, too.
+Davis Pham "You almost had me? You never had me - you never had your car... Granny
shiftin' not double clutchin' like you should. You're lucky that hundred
shot of NOS didn't blow the welds on the intake! You almost had me?"
Haha, yes!! The Car Bible =)
except that you don't double clutch on upshifts.... A fun movie for sure, but not the bible of jack shit.
No offense, but why do you sigh so much in your videos? It makes it seem like you don't want to me making these (which of course isn't the case).
+samchoochiu I guess it's a personality flaw.
+samchoochiu
What would you rather him do..Jump around like Richard Simmons? Who gives a flying shit we're here to be informed.
+Dino Valentino he just ask simple question why u so mad..
Dino Valentino LOL
I have watched some of your videos and will watch more, you have great contents. But i think the delivery of these contents is too slow making your videos much longer that they should be. Perhaps with shorted and more concise videos you would have more views and subscribers..
Anyways, great channel! :)
I concur. Matt's such a great guy and his videos are so informative but from the 30 min mark to 40 min mark i didn't understand what he was even talking about? I was hoping to hear what he thought about the Dinan Chip and the performance of the DInan Stage 2 kit?
Matt..So i've done all the carbon stuff including the M3 Performance exhaust which was a huge improvement. Now i'm onto the DInan stuff. You mentioned Piggy back..I don't understand what that was? If you were me what would be next in regards to performance increase? Cold Air intake and Dinantronics? Which are the best? Thanks man
I agree. I'm have a buddy that is editing my full length stuff down to short versions for those that prefer that.
Dinan offers a piggyback ECU that they brand Dinantronics. Since modern Bosch ECU(DME) has very difficult encryption to crack, most tuners use a control unit that essentially tricks the DME into reading lower boost levels, etc. Cars have gotten "chipped" since like 1995. The intake does almost nothing on the this car but looks cool.
Aha..Now i got it. Thx
I'm about to go Dinan stage 3 with the cooler and all their suspension bits. I already have the MPE and am going with the AWE intake.
My thoughts on Dinan are the same as yours. Sure the flash tuning or JB4 can make more power, but at what costs. And I really don't think I need that much more power. Later on down the line if I'm still hungry for more, those options will still be there.
Amazing car. You should go ahead and buy the Facelift rear lights. A friend of mine put them in and it looks 10 times better!
I may.
+LtheMunichG The LCI Taillights? They look so much better when compared to the original tails
Hey man, just want to let you know four years later I picked up my m4. Thanks for pioneering the way and showing us how a tasteful m car is done.
That didn't take long! Thanks for the quick upload
Great modifications, clean and with a taste :) I like it!
+ComiOPCS Thanks!
Damn the more I look at it I don't know what color to choose. I either want Sakhir Orange or Java green and maybe white, but really I think I really want a poping color, just scared the aftermarket parts are not popular for Java green?
TheMidnightNarwhal I understand. The great thing about white is that it doesn't wear out.
Matt Moreman Really. The other paints tend to wear out? I really planned to keep a F80 for 7 years +.
TheMidnightNarwhal I meant go out of style or get old to look at.
Matt Moreman Ah, I see what you mean. Might be true, in worst case scenario I could always save up to get it re-painted but I believe it's not a good idea, right? White does look really good with carbon fiber and black parts contrast but I mean, I don't know if it will pop out in the wild, you know.
Dont skip legday
Hahaha So True
I love how you always leave the thought process behind everything
+Luis Tavarez Thanks!
Hey Matt, I dig the videos- keep them coming! Though you may not be able to answer this without a bias... I'll ask anyway. I currently have a 2012 Subaru WRX STI limited (see vids) - I'm in the process of selling that along with a few of my other toys. I'm debating on buying a used GTR R35 or F80 M3... I understand each has their obvious difference, but which would recommend. Won't be the daily. Thoughts? Did you ever consider a GTR?
+Streetbikechamp I'm not a GTR kind of guy. I think it's pretty awesome but just doesn't suit my personality. That being said, if it's you fun car, the F80 is probably not a good choice. I'm my opinion it's not a special car. It sounds like crap and is super comfortable. For me, it's a daily driver. So between those to choices I'd pick the GTR. What I'd rather have if I'm you is a supercharged E92 M3.
Matt Moreman
I appreciate the quick response. I've always leaned toward the GTR, along with every other "fanboy" on the internet but lately I've been eye-balling the F80 M3 and M4... They look great. Your videos aren't helping me make my decision any faster though! Haha. Well, once I do end up pulling the trigger on one -I'll shoot a video and message you to check it out. Again, thanks for the reply and keep the great videos comin' pal!
holy fuck this dude drones on and fuckin on. PS. LOL @dinan tune.
Matt what do you think of this set up / exhaust. No offense but this exhaust to me sounds better than the AWE. ua-cam.com/video/BVk69HCeSJs/v-deo.html
+SGVFOOTBALL I've heard it in person. I've never been a fan. I don't like how these cars sound with catless downpipes.
Matt,
Have you thought about the Status Gruppe 'OEM style' carbon fiber diffuser? Very subtle and I think it would tie in perfectly. $600 is a little steep though...
www.statusgruppe.com/collections/2015-16-bmw-f80-m3/products/bmw-f80-82-83-cf-rear-diffuser-oem-style
Looking forward to seeing pics of the Klassen's. Any reason for the Yoko's over the MPSS?
-Kyle
kbc8090 I just don't like the look of a black diffuser. I guess I'm one of the few that prefers the painted version.
Hi Matt, I heard you got spacers on your M3. What do you think about spacers? Alot of people tell me it's more some kind of 'rice' upgrade which ruins the geometry and some other things. I want to get some 15mms in the back but because of all the bad comments I hear about them, I'm kinda holding back...
Whomever told you that doesn't know much about cars or modifying them. I've had spacers on pretty every car I've ever had. RSX, S2000, E92 M3, B8 S4, 991 C2s. I had 15mm spacers on my OEM wheels on the M3, but none with my Klassens. The only downside to spacers can be unwanted vibration. You need to make sure you buy quality ones with extended studs. It's not much different than having a more aggressive offset on a new set of wheels.
+MattMoreman , I'm an avid watcher of your vids. Really appreciate you making them. Two questions that I'm hoping you can answer, 1) what are the dimensions of your garage (i'm currently working with swiss on a design for my garage, but want to add storage, so I'm curious if I have the space to accomplish what you've already done) 2) do you have a link to the storage you used? Thanks in advance.
+William Stern My garage is 22' D X 24' W X 10' H. The cabinets are from www.sabercabinets.com.
Im a tall guy like you did you find the B pillar got in your way while driving and trying to look left to right? Im weighing the pros and cons to the m3 vs m4 ...especially having 2 kids
I didn't have any issues with it.
Run the car in the video ! Want to hear the exhaust you talked forever about. I just got the same car . All stock at this point , looks exactly like yours.
First of all I just wanted to say beautiful car and build. However, would you recommend an F82 M4 or an F80 M3? I currently drive an E92 335i but my next car is between those 2 options. Please don't be bias because you own an M3 lol but an honest opinion, I haven't really done much research on both cars yet but what are the differences between both performance wise? or is the only difference that one is a coupe and the other is a 4 door? I personally am not a fan of the new big body styles BMW is coming out with, if I could I would buy another new E92, the body of the car IMO is so nice and simple and elegant yet mean and perfect.
+Seba Supreme There isn't a performance difference between the two. The weigh pretty much the same and are built on the same chassis. So I think it comes down to personal preference. I prefer the look of the M3.
Matt Moreman thanks man. Appreciate it.
Posting at 1 in the morning.. That's dedication
Sammy Wang Ha, ha... I started upload at about 9PM. It takes that long to upload and process.
Matt Moreman What do you use to edit? You might want to try and play with some compression options, because in Adobe Premiere I have found the best way to compress my videos for my other channel so it just flies through the upload and processing phase. UA-cam is going to compress your video any way, but if you compress it the right way before hand UA-cam won't do much to it.
TheRecon4 That's genius. I'm using iMovie, and I wouldn't call it editing. I'm just slapping the videos together. I have Final Cut Pro X. I just don't know how to use it. That's on the list of things to learn.
Matt Moreman It's been a long time since I have used iMovie, but I don't think it will give you good compression options if any. Final Cut Pro X is pretty easy to use especially if you are just splicing video together with it, and I'm pretty sure you can compress pretty well with it to. I honestly found a video of how RocketJump compresses their videos and stole their settings, but that's for Premiere. I'm sure you can find a tutorial on UA-cam for Final Cut, but make sure you watch the footage after you compress because you might decide that you have compressed to much and it looks like crap.
dude...just open the garage for like 1 min to show us the rear a lil bit, with the bumper with the exhuast, geez
Couldn't agree more with you Matt on optimizing the sound of the car. Love my AWE resonated exhaust and use the BMS controller to select valve open/close and sound.
Still that farty boy racer sound is embarassing on WOT and higher revs...BMW we hope you're listening! Keeps the wife from wanting to drive it or even ride in it.
+Chris C There is promise in the ESS flash tune. It will allow us to tune the overrun out. I'm waiting to see if they come up with a remote flash tune where I don't need cut it open. It's hard to believe they actually induce it on purpose and supposedly it doesn't have any benefit.
I had all mine carbon fiber, from the grill to the exhaust tips, next modification would be dinan stage 3.
Matt, what do you do for the plastic inside of the wheel well? After owning a black sapphire metallic F80 with the same wheels you have, I can't help but notice the inside of the wheel well and how dirty it looks next to the shine of the glossy wheels and metallic paint. I noticed with white F80's that it's not as noticeable since it's apart of the contrast. Any suggestions?
I usually clean it out any time I take the wheels off with some APC. Then spray it occasionally with CarPro Hydro2.
You forgot too mention your Passport Max and the Blend Mount, which is how I found your videos, I was searching for someone that used a Blend Mount, because there website wasn't exact on which one to use.
serdvd6 The one I have doesn't actually fit. They don't make one for the M3. I just bent it and torqued it around the column of the mirror.
Hi Matt, what do you think about the Active Sound, it's good or sounds a little fake? A guy posted a video disabling that. Are you considering to do the same?
+Luís Takashi I have the ability to turn it off and on with my BMS CAN-Flap and usually do. It sounds weird.
great video! why don't you get the brake calipers painted/p.coated red to flow with car/interior. I'm not sure if that's possible on ceramics.
+flexluis84 I've thought about it, but it seems like more work than payoff.
Why don't you buy the clear reflectors instead of using those miss-colored IND's? (It kill's my OCD)
Tyler McCraw I don't think anyone makes them.
Been watching alot of your videos and it seems like you have only bought m3s from BMW. What do you think about the M5 or even the M6, did you ever consider getting those?
The M5 is way to big for my liking, and I hate the way the M6 looks. The M3 suits me much better. I have no desire to own either of those.
What do you think the M3 is making at the crank? with all the mods you have done...
ddaryoush16 530ish
Wish you still had it; ever think about going back to a new gen M3? possibly the new G series coming out?
Maybe the G, but not the F80.
absolutely love these vids, exactly what I'm looking for on UA-cam! I want that m3 man I'm jealous!! But I make my wife watch your vids too when you do stuff to the m3 lol she just wants me to hurry up and buy one so I can stop talking about! Kudos!
+Justin Williams Ha, ha... My wife just rolls her eyes at my crap.
I'd like to hear more about the e92 and how you would compare your mods between the two M3's. Do you have a write up about your e92?
Geoff Duemer I loved that thing. I will get another one. www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=886154
Hey Matt love the videos, keep up the great work!!! I personally have my own m3 and am in the process of getting some new Brixton Forged wheels, i was thinking about going for the exact same fitment as the stock setup on the f80 but watching this now i am thinking of going for wider setup like yours.
I watched your driving review of this car and you say the with the new wheels running 305 in the rear you will have less slip in the rear end? Has it made a difference with the slipping of the rear end with the new wheels? Thanks :)
I have a ton more traction. The only thing to keep in mind if you do 265/305 sizing is that you'l get much less oversteer than factory.
Very informative video Matt, Thank you. I have a 2016 M3 Pearl White and was struggling with a coupla mods. First the Carbon wing. For some reason in my mind couldn't get the thought of flowing right with the the area of the Pearl white Sunroof. Makes sense with the carbon roof but will not with the sunroof. Now i'll probably leave alone or get the plastic wing and paint pearl white. Also want to do the front lip but can't see the black flowing with the majority pearl white. So thought buy the lip and paint it pearl white. Now i've learned from you requires the carbon splitters by BMW for the lip. Saved me a lot of time, money and anguish. Also, feel much better about my M3 Not having the Adaptive M suspension. Suspension is set up perfectly from the factory without the option. However, for those of you interested in the M4 the Adaptive M is a must have. Test drove 6 or 7 M4's with and without. Too soft, imo, with standard factory setting. Beautiful M3 Matt and thanks again.
+Dino Valentino So you have the same Mineral White as me? Just keep in mind that it's nearly impossible to match, so getting carbon fiber parts would probably be a little easier to get used to.
+Matt Moreman
Yes. Mineral white. Figured out Alpine White is a great match for the 2 door M4 but looked off with Mineral white, imo. When I first saw the Mineral White on my M3 looked amazing. Totally fit. I waited to respond on the Carbon parts. Not gonna do any carbon mods for now...gonna leave stock. However, i am having the Performance exhaust installed this Thursday. Also will leave the markers as is for now based on what you said. The color match is only as good as the painter. Too much of a gamble
Hey Matt, new subscriber here......Watching as many of your vids as I can. Is this car noticeably better than the 2014 Audi s4? (Idk if you have driven one) I'm torn between these two and possibly the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio when it comes out.....What are your thoughts on the three?
Out of those three, there is no question I'd choose the M3. The S4 looks great, but I grew tired of the massive understeer.
+Obsessed Garage (Matt Moreman) Thank you for the quick reply....I also appreciate the presence of a handbrake.
i think its just that i want to see something new and i think the wash bay might just fix that
Matt thanks for uploading these videos. I also like the way you don't use long introductions with music. I always end up skipping those when I watch other people's vids.
santrade10 Sure thing man!
Nice looking M3 i like your choices very clean and simple. People are overdoing it with the new M3/M4.
Have you thought about decorating your Garage? Give it some personality.
Arnautovic9 I am going to get a few metal prints of for the empty wall, but that's all I'll do. I like sterile.
Regardless you have an awesome set up, very clean.
great video , learned a lot
What kind of tint do you have? Make, % and for a car like this do you go purchase/lease?
+George Pappachan Formula One Pinnacle 20% and Llumar Air Blue 80% on the entire windshield. I purchased the car.
Hello,
I have 2 pads for a 2 step polish, can I do the whole car with the first pad and then the other one or do I need to wash my pad after doing half the car?
The guys at the detailing shop told me to only get one of each kind so... And if I wash the pad, how do I dry it quickly? I don't have compressed air.
Thank you
William Henry They take a while to dry. Usually a day or two. You'll probably want to have two or three of each type of pad.
Okay I guess I'll go ahead and buy some extra pads. Thanks!
I am a new owner of a F80 and your video was the best one I’ve seen so far. Thank you for taking the time to put this together. I learned a lot.
Thanks man.
As always, great video Matt! Question for you: you ever consider the H&R lowering springs? Not sure if they were out when you did your suspension but I'm seeing a lot of people using them and the price is really reasonable. Also, do you getting any rubbing with your car lowered (when you had the stock wheels, I know this video is old)? Can you get 4-5 people in there and not rub over every bump? Appreciate the insight
I didn't have any rubbing at all with 15mm spacers front and rear. I prefer KW Height Adjustable springs or Dinan for the M3. That way you can get the height dialed in.
+Matt Moreman ok I see. Yea I've heard good things about the dinan springs, was considering swift as well just because they're so much cheaper. But on such an expensive car better to go with the right thing. Thanks! One more question for you: some people say if you track the car, spacers may not be a good idea. Any input on that?
I've never had a problem as long as you use proper torque specs with extended wheel bolts.
Hey matt Where can i buy thia carbon front my lip?
It is possible to get black kidney grills from m performance. Perhaps this is in Germany only though...
+Bryc3m They are available here now but weren't when I first got my car.
Plastidip it yourself buddy
I'm shocked you haven't pulled the fuse for the sound symposer
rebelyell22 I wish it was a sound symposer like the 911. It's goofy active sound through the speakers. I can turn it off with my CAN-Flap.
in Europe black paint grill is an option from BMW
The side markers would look better gloss black
How would you suggest me to wash my microfiber towels by hand. I don't have a lot of them so a machine wash is not necessary.
Thanks.
William Henry I'm not sure man. I just throw mine in the washer.
Yeah I guess that's the best way to do it... ;)
Chemical guys sells an amazing citrus wash for microfiber goods, I've used it once and my towels and rags felt like new when I got them out.
what is the difference between a m3 and m4. I really like BMW.
Rob Aery M3 is four door and the M4 is two door.
Fascinating. Can't wait to see the video about the groceries you bought.
What flooring is that in you garage? Very nice
Swisstrax Ribtrax
y
Dicky Josunarto I like it thinking of getting it
yo this car is my dream 🔥💯😻 alongside an audio r8
You do a great job on your videos and explain everything you do! Thanks for all the great advice and insight, you have helped me tremendously!!!
+Sean Michel Thanks man! For some people, I'm too long winded and annoying. For others that are crazy like us, I seem to be getting the point across is a reasonably accurate fashion.
+Matt Moreman do not worry about others......they tend to whine and not listen to the whole story.....their loss good sir!
where did you get your garage flooring?
swisstrax.com It's called Ribtrax. Use code MMOG for 25% off and free shipping.
Bam, marketing haha
Every 5 seconds (I skipped a lot) he has a different pose
Ha, ha... Nice!
Question Matt on the 1200 mile service. Is there a HP increase or a myth?
+Dino Valentino There have been Dynos done before and after on the E92 that showed a slight difference in power, but I would guess that it is mostly myth.
+Matt Moreman
That's what i'm thinkin-myth. Not sure how accurate the Sport mode gauge is but the car doesn't feel restricted in any way.
what flooring is that in your garage?
can you please please please please do a review on your tints? what percent are they and brand?
mazhar iqbal Just for you man. I'll knock one out soon.
Thanks appreciate it
I've got a solution to your issues with the sound of the car... Do a single GT35r swap and straight pipes! Lol
Hey Matt,
Do you do Crossfit? Noticed you got Nike Metcons?
I do. I used to be legit. Now, I've out eaten my workouts...sigh...
Did you consider the Dinan carbon intake?
Anthony GXP I did, but AWE is better and cheaper.
agree with what you said about the sound.... I wanted to go for the M4 until I heard it the first time, disappointing to say the least.. Went with a 15 RS5. Nothing beats a NA V8 (more so when paired with the AWE Track extreme ;) . Hopefully the next gen RS5 sounds as good!
the next gen RS5 will have the 3.0 supercharged V6 of the actual S-models with about 500bhp
***** I tried the Audi route, but they are not for me. They look fantastic and are obviously fast in a straight line, but the weight and distribution of it doesn't work for me. That and Audi seems to do everything in their power to rally against the enthusiast.
Matt Moreman Well if you live in Canada like I do the AWD does come in handy lol, wouldn't dare to bring out the F80. Question for you Matt, what are your thoughts on the new C63? I'm sure you would love that car from what I have heard you say in your vids (its 4.0TT V8 (sound lol), RWD etc)
***** He talked about this on another video when asked about the c63 " I wish I could take that motor out of the C63 and put it in the F80 with it's 6MT. Now that would be my car. Mercedes just isn't my style, but I guess I should never say never." :)
I have an RS5 with AWE down pipes and I love it. Rev it to pieces!!!!!
hey matt i know money is factor but i think your car would look great with a aftermarket rear diffuser but thats just me giving some crazy ideas
I think I'm like the only dude on the planet that prefers not to have a rear diffuser.
+Matt Moreman woooaahh lol why?
I think it looks like you just stuck on a piece of plastic on the rear bumper.
I'm 6'2" 240. I fit with no issues.
+Matt Moreman fantastic thank you
I'm picking up a f80 m3 this summer and it would a honor to meet you and your sweet m3.
+Frantz Blain Heck yeah man! Let's do it.
+Frantz Blain
What exterior/interior colors..Options? Also, if you do order make sure to add the driver assist. Shows the required MPH in a given area. Very cool option..seeing this switch quickly in a new Work Zone pretty awesome. Imo, this is a must have for basically a full blown street/race car. Never can have too much information.
+Dino Valentino I getting the sakura orange with the black and carbon fiber. and with all the features and the carbon brakes
+Frantz Blain
Nice! You're gonna be amazed. Don't know if there's such a thing as a perfect car but the M3 is dam close.
Did you get your M3?
What % window tint do you have?
+Jack Perrill Formula One Pinnacle 20% and Llumar Air Blue 80 on the entire windshield
oh well...haha lol
What do you do for a living?
+Kenneth Nguyen (Bic Boi Ken) www.smhwealth.com
Don't change those wheels man!!! Those wheels are perfect!!!!!!
+signontheline1 I agree these are great wheels, but wait until you see what I have coming.
LOL! Ok! Love the videos, I sub'd...
+Matt Moreman VOSSENS ???????
+Bruce Berrios No, I'm getting Klassen MS-03. It's hard to find wheels in 19s that will clear the CCBs and are lighter than the already cool stock forged wheels.
Awesome man can't wait to see em'
Maybe I didn't hear but what's your tint?
TheZane03 I was mad at myself for missing the tint. I have Formula One Pinnacle 20% on the all except the windshield. I have Llumar Air Blue 80% on the entire windshield.
nice hat!! are you going to do a Dinan tune?
I've had Stage 1 then Stage 2 as soon as they were released.
+Matt Moreman that's awesome I have the stage 3 for a e90 335i and I love it! how do you like the Dinan tune?
It's good. No issues.
what tint percentages do you have?
+Shawn michael pertab 20% except the windshield that is 80%
+Matt Moreman Did you have any problems tinting with the "BMW Dot Matrix"?
+Dinal Gunasekara I don't think there really is anyway around issues with Dot Matrix.
+Matt Moreman Damn, yours looks good, is it OEM tint then?
+Dinal Gunasekara No, mine is Formula One Pinnacle 20% and Llumar Air Blue 80 on the entire windshield.
No alignment. Obsessive about banal aesthetic aspects. You totally own those cars purely for their appearance.
+randoman75 I will certainly need to get one done soon. Lowering usually throws off the toe which eats up the inside of the tires. My tires are about to be replaced, so I'd rather not get an alignment, then need to get another one a few months later. As long as the car drives straight, my experience tells me it won't be off enough to make much of a difference. I think needing an alignment right away after making suspension adjustments is one of those old wives tales. Surely improvements can be made, but it's not like the car is going to slide off the road.
What about carbon mirrors?
Middleastbeast In my world they are too much money for not enough payoff.
What's the tint percentage you have front and rear on the M3?
Windshield is Llumar Air Blue 80 rest is Formula One Pinnacle 20%
What % tints do you have?
+ChromeWrapz 20% on everything except the windshield and 80% on the windshield.
Dude get a life!
+osibig Don't watch?
This car is barely different from the 440i , another boring turbo.
+goognam goognws I don't disagree other than the aggressive styling, different motor, brakes, suspension, interior, etc.
Matt Moreman motor is 3.0L i6 same as 440i, in fact bmw now uses the same generic engine in as many models as possible. the S55 in this car is not bespoke like the e92 M3 V8 for example. All they did is a few modifications and slapped a mitsubishi twin turbo and intercooler. The "M' badge is pure marketing now. Just another 435i, 440i with more saucy parts and improved suspension.
+goognam goognws I want another E92 so badly.
+goognam goognws The "M"s S55 engine has a larger bore and a shorter stroke than the 335i’s mill at 89.6 and 80.0 millimeters, they don't share the same motor.
blog.caranddriver.com/ten-things-you-need-to-know-about-the-2015-bmw-m3-and-m4/ - Point#2
+Wong Thomas This is a rather interesting car. Most of those that own it feel the need to defend how great it is and those that don't tend to bash it. I like to think I'm keeping an objective opinion have some experience with the car for the past year.
....but its just a BMW? why?
just get to the point
+Shaun Henry Just click around
