  • Today we got to dive into the ID Cooling IceFLow 240 VGA cooler which is an All In One Liquid cooler for GPU's. My 5700xt Mech OC has been a great card but the temps are out of control and the noise levels are almost unbearable and I wanted to fix that!
    Thank you to Harris Heller and Streambeats for the background music.

    got this on black friday sale to get the temps in my XFX Thicc II 5700xt down to a more acceptable level. before installing, i was regularly getting into the mid-70s celcius (95c junction). after installing, highest i saw on heaven benchmark was low 50s (75c junction). Solid improvement. reminded of when i put the Accelero Xtreme IV on my RX 580 with similar improvement in temps.
    ran into the same issue with the heat spreaders as you did, so for those putting this on a 5700xt, keep that in mind, dont want to crush a VRAM module.

    Watching this to prepare myself in choosing the right another new cooling system on my PC. I'd like to step up again my cooling just for my plan Ryzen 5 3600 and AmD Radeon Rx5700 XT upgrade. I need to invest in cooling just to make sure my future RX 5700 XT will at least alive until the last part of the decade.

    So I managed to get one for my 5700 blower (GV-R57-8GD-B), and MAN the installation is HELL for a person who hasn't install any AIO for a while, the fit is a bit off and of course the top 2 memory modules have to be a bit out of line too and mine doesnt have the white line.
    Anyway, managed to get it on and the temps is amazing, I went from (85-90C) 105C tjunc to (60-69C) 78-80C tjunc. That's in hot tropical Asian weather! def worth a buy.
    Your vid helped a lot, thanks!

    This worked amazing with my 5700 XT AMD founder's edition. The temps are way better than stock. Before I see 112°C junction, 85°C VRMs, Memory and GPU die. Now, 84°C junction, 70°C VRMs and 54°C GPU die. Now my PC is super quiet fans ran at low to medium speed. Just a note, the heatsink for the two memory modules at the front have to offset a bit so it won't hit the cooler.

      @@VikingCouple So, I'm going to be honest with you... I uhh... screwed up.
      When it worked, the card was idling at 22c. I never got to see how well it performed under load, and I'll explain why;
      When you mount this on a 6800/xt/6900xt, the rx5xxx hardware doesn't fit, only RX2xx hardware does interestingly enough. I tried using it, but what I didn't realize is that one of the two mounting brackets didn't clear the GDDR6 heatsinks right below it. This caused the block to put excessive pressure on the left side of the very wide GPU die and, well, you can guess the rest. My card died and I ended up selling it for parts. I had no issues with my 5700 so I went into it with confidence, but sometimes you make mistakes and learn hard lessons; in summary, I wouldn't recommend trying to run these on big navi

    I bet a simple repaste with a quality thermal paste would fix the problem. I've had 2 cards with similar problems. One was MSI 2080TI Ventus which despite having core temp more or less in check, below 75C, would randomly ramp up fans to 100% for a second and return to normal ~55%. The second one was an EVGA 1080 SC2 which just ran hot all the time, hitting 80-85C and ran fans at full speed trying to save himself. In both cases a repaste alone did wonders: The 2080TI stopped random fan ramping and dropped core temp to ~70C, the 1080 also dropped to around 70-75C and fan speed to ~50-60%.
    By the way:
    1. Original thermal pads were adequate size, the remaining question is their quality.
    2. You installed the radiator in borderline way - it's top is about the same level as the pump. That should be ok but I would move it up if possible just to be on the safe side.

      No need to apologize, gotta start somewhere. So it actually plugs directly into where the air cooler plugs into the PCB of the GPU so you control it exactly like you would an air cooled card.

      i wouldnt expect a sapphire nitro to need an after market cooler. theyre one of the best stock coolers out there for AMD cards, I thought.

      I can't confirm myself but I have read a few people putting them on 30 series cards but again, I can't confirm this myself.

    did try undervolting you can undervolt the crap out of them

      I did, it still ran really hot. You can only do so much when the stock cooler is terrible. It was the noise that I couldn't take anymore, even after undervolting it.

    Nice video. but GPU AIO is just dumb! and ugly. The RX 5700 Xt will do just fine with the thermalGrizzly and stock cooler, also I'm a huge fan of Custom water-cooling. I know it much harder to do and also more expensive but it's in my opinion worth it, I was going to water-cool a Powercolor Red Dgraon 5700Xt. but then I decided to just pull a 3090 from one of my mining rigs and throw the 5700 xt in the mining rig. The reason behind this is that I need to change thermal pads on all my 3090 cards, so I had to take them apart anyway I figured why not just Custom loop one of them instead in my gaming pc. for god sake my son has a 3080 in his computer, I can't have him have a better pc than me!

    hey man, awesome vid. I'm interested in buying this for the same exact GPU that you have. one problem though: could you mind sharing a rough sketch at least with me with on how the heatsinks look in respect to the white line after you made the adjustment? thanks in advance

      @@VikingCouple thanks for replying. as far as I understand, you moved the 2 heatsinks of the memory modules away from the processor (so that 25% of the dye remains uncovered), correct?

    • @VikingCouple
      @VikingCouple  11 місяців тому

      @@ma-ta_in_tinerete that’s correct, the cold plate was big enough that it was touching the lower 20-25% of the memory modules so I just slid the heatsinks up to clear for the cold plate. I ran it like that for over a year with no heat issues and when I removed the AIO to re install the original cooler to sell I inspected for the card and there was no damage or bubbling to the modules.
