    This was definitely one of the hardest of the first 50 lessons for me. After failing the quiz a few times and rewatching this, finally figured out the difference between the two and that it had nothing to do with singular and plural. 🤦‍♀️ Thank you so much for these videos!! I finally feel like I'm progressing in my Hebrew after almost a year of self studying. 😁

    So immersive, and therefore so naturally informative. Every lesson is an experience, and while being challenged I’m consistently surprised by how intuitive it feels to make progress. I love this approach!

    Powerful lesson preview to the out stretching of Abraham's hand to sacrifice his only son. Well done and well dramatized.

    • @joechambers8603
      @joechambers8603 4 роки тому

      Dramatized, He wouldn't have stabbed his son to death, he would have lifted the knife to his throat and slit it to prevent suffering as with all sacrifices. All photos and paintings show him about to murder his son not sacrifice him.

      @@joechambers8603 Interesting you observe that, because in the chapter 23 of The book of Yashar says:
      65 And Abraham bound his son Isaac, and laid him on the altar on the wood, and Isaac stretched out his neck on the altar before his father, and Abraham stretched out his hand to take the knife to kill his son for a burnt offering before of YAHWEH.

      Beth, zawsze świetnie dobierasz obrazy i muzykę. Ale w tej scenie, muzyka jest wybitna - groza tej sceny staje się namacalna, groza decyzji ekstremalnie trudnej, groza pustynnej scenerii, groza przyczajonego oczekiwania złego ducha... A przedłużenie tej muzyki do końca napisów, dopełnia całości...

    Czy w 10:16, możnaby jeszcze dodać słowo "sól"? Chyba też by pasowało

    2:12 I couldn't decipher the grammar chart... It's clear that it follows the "I, you, he/she, y'all/they" pattern for direct objects, but I don't get the difference between blue and red. Can anyone help me see in what sense is blue about "2"and red about "1"?

    • @AlephwithBeth
      @AlephwithBeth  3 роки тому +1

      The two colors are showing the two different words אֵת: one goes with the definite direct object and the other is a preposition "with". The two words look the same in the form אֶת־, but when you put suffixes on them, they have different forms.

      @@AlephwithBeth obrigado, Beth! Agora entendi. Achei que o 1 e 2 estavam relacionados à quantidades de pessoas (especialmente por causa da imagem das duas crianças correndo, e dos dois olhos no número 2).

    Are there feminin forms for otam and itam? And the second person plural as well?

    • @AlephwithBeth
      @AlephwithBeth  Рік тому

      Technically, yes, but the Biblical text rarely or sometimes never uses these forms.

  • @albertklaver9921

    Question on the ito/oto, when to use which? I thought to understand, but your stories are not consistent with my understanding (so probably my understanding is incorrect). You use oto on avraham to lift the chair, but there is one avraham and one chair, while I understood oto to be used on a "more then one" .. Added later: Never mind, I worked it out now, it is clear. Thanks for the great course!
