Very helpful. I love your ideas for the inventory in digital documents to make finding certain items easier, and also it's a great reminder of what you have! ~Helen
A great place to find bins is any thrift store like Goodwill St Vinnie's they normally have tons of bins because people are clearing out and decluttering and oftentimes that's part of the declutter
I prefer clear bins because I think they look cleaner. I still label every bin. Christmas specifically, I have tree ornament containers which stack very nicely and are labeled for which tree they are for... living room tree, bedroom tree, dining room tree etc. Then I have bins labeled kitchen decor, living room decor, bedroom decor. 2 bins for picks, a bin for pinecones, ribbon bin, village bin, garland bins, wreath bins and a bin or 2 for anywhere decor. It works well for me because I can just take each bin to the appropriate room and boom...I'm ready to decorate. The anywhere decor bins are saved for last since that's what I use for filler in the event that I change up my Christmas layout. When I want to change it up I either give that specific decor away or have a new bin labeled. For example, I used to use red and gold bows, poinsettia picks, and some bulbs, etc but I haven't used those for 3 years now. I might someday again so they have their own dedicated bin that says red and gold christmas. My husband knows he doesn't need to bring it to me bcz I just say not the red and gold bin. Also have one for silver decor which I'm not so much into last few years . The 2 bins don't take up too much room and some future christmas I might want to use them again and since I already spent a good amount of money on them I feel ok storing them. All of my bins are clear with red lids for Christmas. Fall bins have orange lids, valentines day has white lids and spring has light green lids. We have 3 storage rooms in our home so fall is in one room. Christmas and valentines day in another and spring in the other so when you walk into the room all bins are the same height on the shelving and the same color. My eye rests with the uniformity and makes my heart happy. Large signs are wrapped in kraft paper and stored towards the back of the shelving on top of the bins so you don't really see them but everything is cohesive and uniform and does not look cluttered or messy and it works for me.
Congrats on 40,000 plus! Here's my system.....I have an average about 10-15 bins for every season.....I know....it's an illness! Thank goodness for a very large basement. But I have bins colored according to season. I don't inventory but I do have bins labeled what room they were in last. I also take pics of each room at the end of the season. The next year I won't keep everything exactly the same, so items will get stored in the bin of whatever room they ended up. If I haven't used the item, more than likely I will donate it or I may keep in one more year and then see. Florals are on the other side of the basement and grouped according to season and room as well. The reason I pack by room is that I can then decorate one room at a time and it isn't such a hassle to try and drag all the bins up the stairs and then try to decorate the entire house. After a couple of back surgeries and two arm surgeries, well, it's easier for me to do one room at a time. I own a business which is very physical, so I don't have a lot of time and energy to do a whole weekend of decorating. So for those that are older (I'm 66), or have a lot of decor, or not a lot of time, separating by room has been a godsend. Bins aren't as heavy and the task isn't daunting. I want decorating to be a fun hobby not a chore!
I'm glad you have a system that works well for you! Storing things by room makes sense, especially given your thoughts behind it! Thank you for sharing, I bet that will be really helpful to other readers as well!
Just when I painfully finished watching 2 videos on how to de clutter I found your video with ideas on how I can organize without getting rid of any of my decorations. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!! Congratulations on 40000 ( by the time Im watching 41.2) subscribers !
That’s like me , so many Christmas bins !! I’m forever buying lights , fairy lights , antique Christmas bulbs . I’m going to be making a couple of complete Christmas set ups to donate to two families for next year from my own collections and two artificial trees also. It will be everything the families need to enjoy their homes especially for the children . It was supposed to happen this year but we’ve had two deaths , Dec 7 th and now yesterday Jan 15 th non Covid deaths . It hasn’t been a time we could even think of celebrating although it is usually my favorite holiday 2020 had been a particularly bad year .
Congratulations Sarah You do so much to keep us being creative and appreciate home.Cannot imagine going through this year without you to inspire all of us.Appreciate the way you encourage us all to declutter and stay organized.Really does make a difference in every day life.
Hi from Melbourne, joined your community today, brilliant ideas. Glad to know there are others out there as detailed and organised as me. I do a once a year audit of every room and what is in it to this allows me to pick up items that may need to be repaired or replaced.. Keep going, things will grow and before your know it you will be announcing your 50k subscribers. Congratulations and happy new year.
I appreciate this video so much!!!!! We are remodeling and I have such a mismatch of special decor and now can categorize into seasonal colors to rotate them. Thank you!
Congratulations Sarah on hitting 40k! It's well deserved. I enjoy your channel quite a bit. Makes me happy when I see you've got a new video out. You've helped me to improve and enjoy decorating again. Thank you for sharing your expertise! Stay well! 🙋♀️🦋
40,000! Wow. Congrats! I'm happy to see your organizational process. I just couldn't figure out what you blogger-ladies did with everything because I have stuff & it gets messy. I've always had my Christmas things organized in boxes since I was a teenager "in charge" of decorating my grandparents' home. Several years ago I invested in bins & it was the BEST. I like the clear ones so I can see what's in them. I also numbered them so I could tell me son which numbered bins to bring me from the garage or storage shed. I have some solid bins with labels too. I always pack mostly the same things together. So, you know, I don't feel nearly as bad as I used to about my stuff. I've been donating & organizing a little at a time. (Mostly because my kids don't want my stuff & I don't want them to have to go through everything when I'm gone...although I hope to drive them crazy for a while yet! )
I learned the hard way that storing in clear bins in a building with windows allowed the sunlight to come in and fade the items. Also, Texas heat is horrible for anything plastic - whether say nursery pots you're saving for gardening or cheap bins that literally crumble in just 2 or 3 seasons.

So exciting!! Congrats to you. Well deserved, you are so genuine and truly talented. Your channel is such a comfortable place to watch, I really enjoy being here as a viewer
A lady once told me to store my unused decor like this. 1. Small items tucked inside larger items and then pop into bins 2. Florals, wrap in tissue paper and stored laying flat inside dust proof bins, the tall ones, place in trash cans. 3. Books and pictures store with rice packets or moisture coontrol packs from food containers.
And you will hit many more milestones Your videos are very interesting and informative Also you present yourself very well and you are very articulate You are very comfortable in front of that lens

@@SheHoldsDearly It is, sadly some are still sitting in the living room in boxes waiting to be put away. I will make a note for Christmas next year to do the whole inventory. It will help me get rid of more!
Thank you so much for showing us your storage. That helped me so much. Do you store wreaths up on that top shelf too? I have a wreath my sister made for me one year that was made of tufts of fabric poked and glued into a straw base and I stored it in my Christmas tub. It was really pretty before it got squashed, so don't know how to fluff it out to make it look nice again. So what do you do with opiniated husbands? Rather than letting me have full reign in the decorating department, he's got his own ideas and sometimes they clash with mine! smile! For instance, I'm TRYING to declutter and have taken a 6th bag of stuff on one of our runs to the thrift store. His idea of decorating is the pile style. Have you worked with collectors before? :)
Congrats! I have recently discovered your channel. Love watching for both your designs and lessons. I keep items in both clear and solid bins. I also love the ikea Dimpa bags for odd shaped items and fake greens.

Love the things in America that you thrift !
I've been meaning to ask you about this!! 🥰
Do you shop at used bookstores to find your old books for color decor? I have a hard time finding anything at thrift stores.
I have been able to find them at thrift stores and garage sales! I'm sorry you haven't had much luck, hopefully soon!
I have a question? How do you store seasonal pillows? I am starting to buy pillow covers now...but I still have many pillows I love that need a spot...
Could vacuum pack them and store them in a bin or most of the time if I have a pillow that is not a pillow cover I just reuse the pillow and put the new pillow cover over the existing pillow. If you really love the pillows themselves, I'd work on packing them as small as possible and storing them with your other decor from those same seasons. Maybe they can help protect some glass or fragile pieces.
Hi I am new I will like to now the name of your home decoration I lovet . Thank you God bless you
I've got to ask. Where did you get your apron? I'm so fixated on it. Oh the pockets!
💝💝💝
where do you put seasonal pillows
I typically use my same pillows all year long, and just change the covers out seasonally! The covers fold up easily in my storage bins! :)
I sell my vintage decorations that I no longer love on Etsy, that way I have income to buy something else I do love!
Share your etsy shop name!
That's a great idea!
How come you store books away in the bins?
Those are my vintage books, which I use just for decoration. So when I'm not using them, I store them with my other off-season decor! I use just specific colors in each season, so I have quite a few not in use at any given time. :)
I'm confused 🤔. How are many of those items seasonal? They look like year round items...like books.
I do incorporate vintage books all year round, but I swap them out (usually by color) for seasonal accents.
@@SheHoldsDearly that is weird to me to think of books as decor. Books are for reading
I did submit for your design giveaway. Do I need to submit photos
Yes, please email them to the address in the link! :)
Wrong title on video misleading
Can you share why you think that? This video is about organizing seasonal decorations... just like the title states!
congratulations!!!
