“Think Outside The Box” is my new styling theme! What a creative way to view our thrift finds! Stools aren’t just for sitting at a counter. Jugs and crocks aren’t just for the kitchen. And baskets aren’t only for picnics. Thank you once again.

I so enjoy the hunt when thrifting! My son and husband always ask "what are you looking for?" I've told them every time we go, just something cool and interesting. No one in my family ever thrifted before me. I could go to flea markets and garage sales endlessly for new treasures. I've found a women's gold pocket watch necklace and sterling silver flatware, $200 shirts for my husband for three bucks. It truly is amazing what people get rid of. The table runner for curtains is a great idea. I've also used a table cloth on the bed for more lace. Where we live I find split oak baskets all the time. I've taught my son how to look for things and gauge whether or not they're worth getting. We have saved tens of thousands buying thrift over new, easily. I love when people look in my basket and ooh and aah. I love the uniqueness of having a thrifted home. Target is too cookie cutter for me.

I like the porch Christmas display and gather Thanksgiving display.
I'm a Vermonter living on a farm in South Australia. I REALLY appreciate the seasonal ideas as our seasons ARE THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE. Our Christmas is HOT and that porch scene might work! Thanks for sharing.
God bless this woman to continue to be a blessing!

Hi Sarah! I loved this video & will be watching it again & again! Absolutely fabulous array of ideas! Your dust ruffle options have inspired me to keep an eye out for those now. I'm with you on no labels & repackaging everything into vintage containers - vintage decanters are nice for mouthwash in the bathroom. Thank you including footage of how you've used you "treasures" in your video - so inspiring & useful! Thanks again, Sarah!

"Bed skirt" is another term! It's the layer that goes below the mattress and covers the open space below a bed frame!

A good thing to add might be the lamps. You can find really interesting lamps at a very good price. The one thing I would caution would be if the lamp is pretty old you may need to replace the electrical wiring. It's not terribly difficult but must be done correctly or could be a fire hazard. I've bought lamps I've used for other purposes though. Found a tin lamp made in England that had images of herbs on it. I use the top to hang my herbs on the dry them out.

I've been binge watching your videos and we have similar tastes. I love your fabric ideas. I have had pillow covers made from soft cozy designer sheets and I have layered dust ruffles in years past. I agree, I go thrifting for small furniture when I want a quick turn over, but I do have a business so I have to grab the large bargain too when I see it. I have thrifted myself out of my she shed, lol! I will be revamping soon to move my business into my shed.
I love bamboo tables in powder rooms.
I just passed up on a 3 tiered dessert tray because I thought they were played out, but you've given me new ideas! I think I'll put one on my office desk.
I used some louvers at my last Christmas Extravaganza as a backdrop for photos. I found about 6 of them at a yard sale and I knew I would use them for something!

Love the wallpaper in your craft closet...even the little edging. You've done an amazing job. I have a feeling you'll find another roll to finish the job, however Leanne Ford recently did an adorable design in a bedroom using a variety of different wallpapers...like patch work on the walls.

Sarah I got really excited to see this tutorial. Everything you mentioned I have and I love to shop that way. I went today what I call "junking" and found some beauties. I just finished up painting a little round table, a hutch that I found, two small stools, and I can't wait to get my stoneware out, wash and display it around my house. My house is pretty, welcoming, cozy, all from "junking". I love your home and your tutorials.

I love the idea of using tiered serving pieces to create height! I'm thinking ahead to how I would use one in my living room at Christmas. I also like the tip of finding picture frames and then spray painting them. I agree that a variety of textures is interesting in picture groupings, but purchasing frames can get expensive so I often just use what I have on hand and the result is not as interesting as it could be. Thanks for all the great ideas!

Hi Sarah, I am new to your channel tonight. I just appreciate your tips for shopping antiques. I LOVE to wander in antique shops and flea markets. My Mom laughs and says her and I were born at opposite time periods. She grew up with antiques as the all they had and she wanted a house with newer style things.. I LOVE antiques and replica's . My question is how to group things and how to use them in decorating, for example How to use items to decorate above my kitchen cabinets. I have some larger pieces and I like lots of tool type items. Than you again for all your tips and suggestions.

Love all your advice on home decor! Brokenhearted that with the exception of one location, all the antique and thrift stores in the Old Town where I live have closed shop since the last economic downturn. Basically, only nearby Goodwill stores left, and so far, they have been quite disappointing. When I do have the opportunity to explore again, whether near or far, your guidance will influence me to take more time to consider pieces, and how to potentially style them in a new way.

Hi Sarah, thanks for the fabulous ideas and examples on how to use these thrift store items. Two questions...1. where do you keep all the pieces you are not using between times? 2. Regarding the dust ruffle used as a table cloth - I LOVE that idea but don't dust ruffles only have three sides decorated? What do you do with the fourth side which has no decoration (ruffle) when on a 4 sided dining table? Many thanks.

    • @SheHoldsDearly
      @SheHoldsDearly  4 роки тому +1

Great question! I either layer two together - one over the left end and one over the right end or I put two tables together and have the bare ends meet in the middle.
