This video is so neat. Fantastic overview! The part about tuning the kicks and 808 is much needed. I'm sending people over to this video whenever they ask about tuning drums.
the In The Mix Channel is also soooo important to the producer community , good to see the guys i watch bigging each other out......GUYs i recommend you Subscribe ^^^^^^^
Bro I been preaching this shit on Facebook for years. That percieved loudness part is that gem right there. The whole video is a gem. Thanks for sharing bro.
Crazy. All i had to do was add the Saturator and it made a crazy difference! I noticed when i even side chained it wasn't doing shit. I added the saturator and dialed it up a little bit and its punches so hard now!
You know what i really like about Decap is that he's one of the only producers that realizes that there are no rules to this music shit. If you're going for a particular sound then feel free to follow where the music takes you no matter how weird
Weak. All of you paint by numbers "producers" suck balls. If you are using presets, sample packs, drums created by someone else, you are not an artist. You are a consumer. What you are doing is one step above playing video games. Sucks that there are so many of you goons out there these days. In the 90s, it meant something to be a producer, and it required dedication, because you had to spend a few thousand dollars just to get a decent sampler. Now you clowns download cracked FL Studio and a bunch of drum packs, plugins, etc and drag and drop every component of your "music." If this is what you are doing, your beats are garbage and you're a fraud. I don't care how many suckers jock it.
@@NachtSchreck13 If you use a DAW you are not a real musician. DAWs just give all the layering and audio tracks to you. If you use an instrument you are not a musician. They make all the sounds for you. i can go on
Good tips have been applying some of this to my drums in FL Studio. Sidechaining the melody to the kick is golden and I know this applies to a track with only a 808. I'm trying to get better with sound design thanks again.
i love how you tell us to have fun... im train parkour and thats my number one rule i tell people that wanna start it! i always forget this when making music so thank u for being so kind
I honestly thought you are one of those chaddy youtubers who will "change my life as a producer" with one video but this actually very solid knowledge presented in an orderly manner. Thank you!
I just started out using Ableton Live and man, thanx for the advice. No Rules, it really is very inspiring. Definitely subscribing and getting that plugin soon.
I used to have Illmind blapkits for drums, but now i replaced them with yours! 'Pop kick' from 6 is just perfect for me.. i usually dont mix it besides sidechain. Cool to see the actual mixxing behind it, but for kicks i like em ready!
My man Decap! Your drum kits are one of the best for modern hip hop production for sure! I just can't get enough of those kicks that stomp your chest and snares that slap the shit outta you haha.
Many thanks for the content! I haven't worked on a beat in some months, but I'm starting to get that lil tingling feeling in my stomach again. That inspiration kicking in!
Decap is honestly my most favorite hip hop producers right now, even being a house producer mainly using his drums help my percussion and when i do make hip hop these vids really help me
@Decap would you mind doing an in-depth tutorial on how to properly use swing on instruments and drums in order to create a “nasty” bounce so to speak?
Yo your the goat, quick question Idk if you’ve been asked before but can you make video about how to make melodies like the one playing in the background or for “Issa bounce”
bro. since when have you been doing tutorials? you're one of my favorite producers. caught me SLIPPIN. going to watch all of these, keep up the amazing work dude, love your shit.
Decap man really dig the videos and the FK movement! I can see the hours you spent to get here, and you always motivate me to produce ever since meeting you at an SF Ableton beat sesh. Keep it up!
I heard from a puppet that if you manually side chain your kicks and snares come out louder because it’s pre-active rather than re-active like side chain compressor does after the fact.
Download my new plugin KNOCK - the only plugin you need to make your drums knock: pluginsthatknock.com
TRULY tho.
This works so well.
Used it for very short clean DnB drums today, not just useful for HipHop/Trap (but especially)
This video is so neat. Fantastic overview! The part about tuning the kicks and 808 is much needed. I'm sending people over to this video whenever they ask about tuning drums.
Thanks bro 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
the In The Mix Channel is also soooo important to the producer community , good to see the guys i watch bigging each other out......GUYs i recommend you Subscribe ^^^^^^^
Is there a more in depth video he dropped the knowledge but not the technique
0:58 soft clipping
2:09 saturation
3:07 strategic eq
3:37 tune your sounds
4:18 transient shaping

I am 14 and ive been experimenting with ableton and trap beats for a year and ive already learned so much from you. ty sm!
FINALLY somebody who's giving Ableton Live tips about Hip Hop and not EDM
What do people usually use to make hip hop then?
Danny Aghdam FL Studio
Danny Aghdam Native Instruments
berzerk0912 that’s not a daw tho that’s a vst company
EightOhEight really? When I first got into production everyone always told me FL was trash and to stay away from it
6:22 my college professor taught me there's no rules :>

This is what I needed! Thank You!
Crazy. All i had to do was add the Saturator and it made a crazy difference! I noticed when i even side chained it wasn't doing shit. I added the saturator and dialed it up a little bit and its punches so hard now!

2. Saturation 2:07
3. Tune your sounds 3:36
4. Transient shaping 4:16

as soon as i tried the glue compressor tip, my kick instantly sounded better, lol. thanks for the video!
Another trick is to just use Decap sounds and skip all this steps directly into Knock paradise haha
🤣
