Feel privileged to hear such beautiful playing in such an historic church with excellent acoustics. Bravo to Philipp contributing to the community in such a classy way. Anna, such a smart way to host your event - on the lawn using found objects at the chateau and cooking in that tiny kitchen. Well done, all. The first of many events to come, I’m sure.

How wonderful this entire video is from start to finish. The story of the composer, the violinists, baroque music in a baroque chateau, and the 300 year old violin simply wonderful. The preparations, Anna baking with the girls, Nathan, Benoit, and all of your helpers, was so nice to watch. The concert, and church was beautiful and Philipp playing the violin was impressive. Anna and Philipp, it’s so nice to see you being a big part of the community. What a special event for a worthy and necessary cause. Thank you for sharing. I hope you raised a substantial amount for the church restoration. xx

My mom was learning to play the violin throughout my childhood and teens and constantly played violin music in the car as we commuted to school in another town, so I felt a huge surge of emotion watching this episode. Sadly she passed away at age 47, when I was only 22, from cancer.

That was pure joy to watch. I had the honor of hearing a Canadian opera singer in the Lalande chapel and he explained that choir music was written to accommodate the different characteristics of the building's natural acoustics. Those violins sounded like they were made for that space. And I have often commented to other Chateau owners that they should feature and support the local villages and people in their vlogs, so I am so thrilled that you did this! And that you hire local community members for your renovations and upkeep. You're doing it right! How fitting that Saint Martin shared his cloak with a person in need and now others are honoring his charity by helping restore a chapel devoted to him. It's an inspiration. You might want to give Lalande a call if the church finds a good chapel restorer. I heard they're looking for one.

It's why Opera always sounds best when you hear it naturally. Microphones make it sound waaay to rich and gutural. But when it echoes and dances around a room... suddenly you know why jt was so popular for years.

Thank you for bringing the wonderful memory back with your playing. The concert was very moving, I absolutely loved the music. I think it is so important that you are being part of the community and that people from your village feel they can come to the Chateau rather than looking at it from behind a huge gate. I think you should turn the concert into an annual event! Even when the church is renovated, it will need constant maintenance. Good job, guys!

I also play on the very old and expensive Italian violin from 1775, I know it was scary for Anna to watch you hold that instrument. Well, you did great! I just found it funny that you choose to play on the G string. Most of the people go for an A or D string. Good for you! Not only are you two amazing, but with your energy you attract incredibly interesting and kind people to your chateau. After each episode, I feel the desire to meet you and all the wonderful people who enrich your everyday life. Hopefully, I'll be able to make that wish come true in the next few years.

Thank you for including us in the audience of a beautiful concert! I, too, played violin as a child, and still have my grandfather’s violin. He was a church organist and composer in New York City in the early 20th century. I switch to singing by high school and never looked back😆

Beautiful! I like your thinking. Had I been a bit younger and been able to do what you and all the other chateau folks are doing, my first MO would be launching a series of concerts or a yearly chamber music festival, as I've been immerged in that sortof thing for most of my years, and France is THE country where the general public really go to listen and are a great audience with a good ear! If I'm not mistaken that goes for Germany too, although I personally haven't experience there, though my ex did who's a concert pianist. These houses and churches are made for exactly this artform, and there's just nothing quite as magical as listening to a concert like this, an exclusive and fleeting moment in time of living art, connecting the past with the present, in the proper setting. I personally love the combination of casual mingling and noshing outdoors with listening to music that requires this heightened concentration, it's perfect, inclusive and always memorable. The fact that you have this large church on your doorstep is fantastic, rather than a tiny chateau chapel. It opens up incredible possibilities!
I'm a bit of a baroque buff so this was especially lovely to see and listen to. A perfect way to connect with your community and I'm sure you can bring in important funds to the church restoration exploring this path. Thankyou for letting us listen and bravo, all of you, and special thanks to the musicians letting us all listen in!
I hope the church can be repaired sooner rather than later. Those trees growing in thr façade neef removing asap ! 😱

I had to laugh so hard when Philipp played 'Alle Meine Entchen'. Especially since he was sliding up on the string instead of changing onto the next higher string. I would have done exactly same since I played the viola for a bit and since I'm German. 😂
    Great video as always ☺️

What a beautiful interlude this afternoon. with other things doing on in your life other than the kitchen remodel you bring us on an exciting journey of beauty and introduction to your village. We get history, we get music , we get community support and involvement . All in the beautiful setting of the Chateaux. Music that makes one weep with its beauty. Food lovenly prepared and presented. A hope to preserve a building with a history older than its own .Anna and Phillip are sharing this wish with the broader world. Let the Magic begin.
Happy Birthday Phillip. You shy guy you.!!
When you speak out of love the words will always come.
    See you next Sunday.

Hey Phil, last time you did a speech in front of a lot of people was every week in front of a quarter million people.
Dont think about this, it'll ruin your day.
Good job on helping the town with this and thanks for letting extended bits of music play on the vlog
