Thanks, AutoFanatic. Just replaced my Stelvio's filter with the BMC filter two days ago. It took me about an hour to 1.5 hours to successfully install the BMC filter. This was due to the issues I encountered including: [1] Removing the two plastic tabs on the left [2] Unscrewing the bolts all the way up to avoid the bolts from going down again while trying to reinstall the box. [3] Reattaching the air intake tube and the metal fastener from the right end [4] Detaching the MAF [5] Used a zip tie to reattach the bracket connecting the air filter to the chassis
Very good advice about blowing out excess oil from a K&N etc. I had a brand new BMW 528i in 1997. I put a K&N filter into it. The car kept throwing a check engine light. Short story, 13 trips to the dealership to exchange oxygen sensors that were damaged by the K&N! According to BMW at the time, they didn't 'have to' repair it under warranty, but did so as good will towards me, cause I was a repeat BMW customer! In other words, it was a friggin' mess! Since 1997, I've never installed another after market air filter in any high performance car I owned.
Hi bro, when I was trying to pull out the sensor connector,it was to hard, and it was not even move.I'm afraid to broke it.can to tell me how the red lock tap work under the sensor connector?I wonder to know whether the red tap failed to unlock the connector?

I don't understand how a better flowing air filter helps improve fuel economy. Seems like more air would require more fuel to keep the air/fuel ratio correct. I'm not trying to start an argument or disagreeing with you, I just don't understand. Can you explain?
Ultimately, anytime that there is less waste then the efficiency goes up. Utilizing the extra air improves fuel efficiency, despite using more fuel as you say.
Hi, these are great videos you make here. I live in Germany, I have the Stelvio 200Bhp with the sports package. I really love the car. For me this one is already a rocket. Question. I read several comments that exchanging the filter like you did would worsen the dirt and dust filtering of the air for the engine and may be more risky in damaging your engine. What is your comment on that?
@@autofanaticcars I am not making any scientific proven claims here, just saying that, from my experience with 3 cars :), I had no problems with oil overfilled BMC air filters.
Hi, quick question for you. I noticed here this Stelvio has a black 'strut tower brace' going across the engine. Does that brace fit on the Giulia models without damaging the hood? It seems like a good idea ad on for better handling. Thanks!
gotta be the added weight i suppose the QV Stelvio also has one the Giulia I think is a stiffer version of the platform since it was their original design and the Stelvio came a few years later. I also do not think the strut bar would fit with the carbon hood on my QV Giulia
you clearly have no experience working on performance cars for almost 30 year to have witnessed and diagnosed issues from oiled filters like I have, its funny how almost all dealers will flag cars for warranty as a result there is a reason for this. the advice i give is to help people take it at your own will what you guys want to do.
@@autofanaticcars I agree with DatEpicFather 100%. So you think you know these filters better than the K&N engineers who design and make them? These filters needs a little bit of oil in order to work properly. As long as you do not over-oil it and do not install it when the filter is still wet, you will be fine. By blowing the filter using compressed air, you could have compromised its filtering capabilities.

Were you able to get this out?
How does it run and sound? Need update please!
The new Alfas seem fairly easy to work on. If you're used to wrenching on German cars, this seems simpler in many ways
the 2.0 is very easy to work on the 2.9 is quite tight and cluttered and much more difficult.

Why not go with AEM DryFlow? Or do they not make a filter for the Alfa? I love the AEM dryflow.

on BMC filters you don't really need to pressure air them. Is no excess oil in them.
thats because you actually worked on high end sports cars for 25 years to diagnose and correct issues from over oiled filters like I have?

no it does not the underside is quite different between the two models
What can one do, if an air hose is not available to blow out the extra oil ?
use shop towels and try to soak up any excess oil or take it to a mechanic shop and use their air hose quick
Do you still use this BMC filter or do you recommend something else?
yeah these are fine to use
@@autofanaticcars thank you. Do you recall how long it took you to do the cabin one?
Very interested in future mods for this vehicle!
did this and full exhaust go check that video out on the channel
I just installed this on my stelvio and my check engine is turned on I guess after removing the sensor
Any idea what to do?
did your forget to plug the sensor in?
Double check all of your connections and worse case scenario have it scanned to see what code comes up
It turned off about an hour later . All good now , and this small mod really does make a difference
