I'll be moving to a rural area later in the year, and planning to grow and sell veggies, raise chickens and sell eggs and make farm-themed crafts from home. Also developing my own web site to sell crafts from home.:)
I left teaching as well because as I grew up a bit more. I understood what I wanted out of my career more. I found that even though I love helping people and am extroverted. That I struggled with working with large groups. In working as a teacher, I found that i actually wanted more of a caregiver role and a more flexible schedule. I THOUGHT I could tolerate the unpaid work and taking it home. I ended up LOATHING it so much more thab I thought I would. I am happier every single day working as a nursing assistant. I love being on my feet and being physical (although I found I am way out of shape 😭), I'm loving working with the elderly and I like caring for the patient and teaching healthcare topics (like ostomy care, etc.) WAY more than reading stories. Beein in healthcare for a hear and a half. Finding what you can tolerate and identifing aspects you actually enjoy in your role is key.
Very interested in following your career journey. I am in allied health and also am introverted / burn out from constant face to face. I just had the discussion with my workplace of leaving the 1:1 therapy space and offloading my caseload. Change is stressful but working alongside our personalities and mental health instead of against it will do us wonders I’m sure!
All the best for a career change, love that youre thinking about what fits you. At the end of the day its work and if you find something that is better for you take that opportunity guilt free. I changed careers from teaching after about two years. At the time it was mostly because there was no permanent positions in my area (even though I moved rural). My job is now 50% working from home which I love and I wouldn't go back. Early into the change I was doubting my decision, looking back I think some of it was because of the stigma of teachers leaving the career 'giving up because its too hard'. I loved teaching and people kept asking me why I left, its funny because other career changes don't seem to get the same questions, in fact its fairly normal to change after a couple of years? My response was I loved teaching but it didn't pay as well, had significantly longer hours than my 9-5 job I have now, included PD I had to pay for, unpaid marking/extra curricular and it didn't have nearly as many benefits (the time was something that I think surprised a lot of people who don't understand just how long teachers work). Get the sense that the way teaching is talked about (a passion, calling, helping others) while other careers aren't makes it difficult for people to leave for better options.
Hi Angie! Wishing you lots of luck back at school. Loved your green and white tops and loved this vlog so much. Hoping you will do another one soon. You are a very smart and talented lady Angie I am sure you will find a job working from home. Wishing you and Lewis all the best. 👋👋👋
I literally threw out all of my underwear other than the Lilly loves ones. I wear their bralettes too and it basically makes up my whole lingerie selection (other than a strapless bra for special occasions & period undies)
My brother was a English teacher for an overseas business teaching children in China and Japan. He was paid in USD and they gave incentives for continued work so regular pay rises. The shifts were all working from home and all evening work (due to time difference) but he was paid pretty well during his time working with the companies and he really enjoyed it. He didn’t need to know the language and they just required a short course to be completed prior to starting though he is also a qualified teacher. They were shorter shifts 2-5 hours and I think in the end he was making over $100 aud an hour
Distance education allows the teachers to teach from their own space, alternativly you could create a program for homeschoolers, there is a lot out there
I love teaching, however when we were working from home for almost 2 years I found that I really enjoyed it more. Working from home just wasn’t as common as it is now.
In life, we learn more about ourselves as we grow. We are all allowed to change and alter our path in life as we learn more about ourselves. Good on her for taking the courage to look at other ways to earn income, rather than stay in a job that doesn't suit.
@@jerseycaramelakajcthecat9588 ideally you don’t prepare for years to accomplish a career that by default doesn’t appeal to you. This has nothing to do with giving something new a go. I am a qualified teacher and I can tell you that being introverted is incompatible with the profession to start with. You might get away with tutoring individuals on a one to one basis, but a desirable classroom atmosphere and your attentive presence as a teacher who transfers knowledge efficiently is not compatible with being introverted. Being open, highly receptive and inviting curiosity then responding adequately is a constant requirement in a classroom. Completely the opposite of an introverted person’s attitude. End of.

The green top looks amazing on you
You should not have chosen teaching if you’re introverted and you want to work from home 🙄

Thank goodness we’re allowed to grow and change and evolve over the years. Especially post-pandemic!

How dare she give something new a go and then realise it isn’t what’s best for her… 🙄
