    Atwater played for my College team, he's one of the nicest guys you could meet. I've followed his career since he first started College and today with him getting voted into the HOF is fitting because he sure deserves it. He played his heart out and was a great teammate. WPS!

      thetek9 nope that’s CTE

    • @TheLocalLt
      @TheLocalLt 4 роки тому +10

      thetek9 nobody knew that. A concussion was considered to be a bad headache, not brain damage. It was assumed that once you felt better you were fine, like a broken bone. Although the whole controversy is that supposedly the NFL higher-ups knew concussions caused brain damage since the 1970s but covered it up until the 2000s, that’s why they made that movie about it. But many people already assumed it caused brain damage and just didn’t care because the game was so much better with headshots

    • @BigSnax88
      @BigSnax88 4 роки тому +8

      TheLocalLt I mean people tend to watch the game more when there were bigger hits. Play like this back in the 90’s was what most of us grew up watching but sadly when you really look at the nitty gritty of it these guys were in some few cases killing themselves because like you said they saw players like Ronnie Lot, Jack Ham and Lawrence Taylor blowing guys up like it was nothing. Unfortunately too I notice a lot of defensive players fall fate to the effects of hits like this.

    • @MatthewChristianMurray
      @MatthewChristianMurray 2 роки тому +1

      Louis Oliver was a respectable player, but was no Atwater, that’s for sure. Atwater had a free safety’s nose for the ball and a middle linebacker’s hitting power. And appears, by overwhelming consensus, to be a really good dude as well.
