quick question. do you still have quite a bit of tannin in that pond in the video if you compare a clear bottle of tap water to a bottle of pond water, despite your great wetland filter? I despite lots of effort, checks and balances , wetland/organic filter, cleaning etc, UV, bio-mech-chem-filter, shade, feeding etc, have a light yellow tinge in my water compared to a clear bottle of tap water. I hope with time, cleaning, more bacteria, my water will eventually stabilise and be crystal clear
Really such an underrated channel! Can’t wait for you to grow into a big UA-camr!
Thank you George!!!
Wow your pond is amazing🤩🤩
Your turtle and fish look so incredibly HAPPY!! THANK YOU first of all for keeping them so happy with a HEALTHY pond. I am working on own dock and pond and LOVE this wetland ecosystem! BRAVO!! YAY!!!
Pond looks amazing!
Great job man! Very well explained for people that are inexperienced or well experienced. You gave me a few ideas that I could add to my pond 🤙
I have had my current pond for three years. The first year I used an Uv light to help withe the cloudy water with a small 3 × 3 planted bog filter. Updated the bog last year and after the light burned out I never replaced. This year the water has stayed crystal clear. Great video 👍
I’m super excited for setting up a pond so thanks
The pond looks incredible. I bet the turtles are having the time of their lives.
They totally look so happy!!! It's our job to keep them safe from pollutants
Awesome video bud! Great system
learned a lot. inspired all the way from the Philippines. keep em coming
🇵🇭🇵🇭
Awesome Pond Video Bro vary impressive... You Rock 🤘 Man
Looking good brother 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great job dude , thanks to share.
More videos please, your pond is amazing.
The pond looks super Duper good
your did a great job on that bad ass pond :)
Dude, u deserve more subscribers
Finally i found this... thank you for sharing from PHILIPPINES 🇵🇭
great video, added this to my favs
your pond is AWESOME dude, I wish I wasn't under so many trees where
I could have a pond like yours but I have no place to put 1 in my yard 😞
BUT I do like the way you explained the system you have easy peasy.
AWESOME!
Ha I was wondering what the heck the point of that bog was in your first video. That makes sense now. Great video, I might need to do something similar since my pond does get a decent amount of algea build up. Although the water itself still is nice and clear.
That's nice. I want to do a pond about the same size. I'm using undergravel pipes with airlift system (which i will introduce a filter in between the up pipe) also i will have plants... it's a pond mainly for small birds that will drink the water. Now i'm thinking in adding a couple fish, so i'm definetely looking to understand the bog filter you have there. Is quite big and perfect for plants... i'm trying to think of many ways to incorporate in order to have clear water
Do you clean the bilogical filter bag? Rinse it out at all during the summer?
Did you ever find beans eggs? Also you should make merch.
No eggs :( working on merch!
Be careful with those angular rocks in the bog filter. They can lock together and reduce water flow. Round rocks have bigger passageways and wont clog as easily as angular rocks!
That's an excellent idea, very interesting. Never thought about that, thank you!
Thanks much for all the info 🙏
A few questions:
1. The white pipe we see on the bog is the feeder pipe from pond? And it opens up at the bottom of bog i guess.
2. Could you explain how the cleanup pipes have been installed and the big pipe.
Any diagram shall help.
3. Lastly, how to you manage ammonia?
Cheers from India 👍
This is genius!! What kind of plants could I use? (never cared for plants before)
Dont complain about audio while you shake the camera like its spray paint haha
HAHAHA THAT'S FAIR 🤣🤣😭
@@DanTheTurtleMan_ great info btw, im just learning. I buried a 150g horse trough and makes beautiful emerald water in just 48 hours with just 2 4 inch long koi. I have 3 large bubble filters going with lots of air but it seems like im going to be doing a bit more earthworks..
Is that your new place , right? because I remember that you said in one of your last videos that you have to move...Wow is really big and pretty... Congratulations...
Is there anyway you can give me plans on how you did your bio filter step by step.
Make a video explaining how to make bog filter with more detailed
5:54 omg there is baby fish in there 🐟🐠
Oops I mean 2:54
Do you need a heater for turtles?
Still can't believe you built this with little help. Can I hire you? Lol
Sure! 🤣
Can we plant lotus in ponds like this? And can fishes live with lotus plants inside a quartz pond?
I watched your video a couple years ago, and I made a bog. It’s worked well, but I continue to have to more maintenance to my pond then what I should be. My issue is plants in my bog. All I’ve been able to find to use is elephant ears, which die in the winter or my turtle eats them. Could you help me by telling me what kind of plants that I can use that will live in water?
Can I use aqua soil to plant my lotus plants
looks like the water is clear nice job, but it looks like it has a lot of tanines in it or is it just the way you filmed it, you can remove it by adding some carbon filters
Great video and he isn't annoying like some guys.
Did you directly put those plants in the bog gravel without any soil?
They're prob still in their pots 😎
Cool
Do a video of the fish
I love the pond! So naturalistic! Btw small question: won't the turtles get impacted because of the gravel?
Nope! Terrapins have digestive systems made to handle huge objects (they eat oysters and snails in the wild)
What's the net for?
Hey man I’m wandering if those fish in your green pipe are doing
Awesome water feature. I honestly think it's the best one I've ever seen. The big tube that goes to the bottom has little fish in it. Will they be sucked up into the sump when removing debris or do you have to remove them by hand?
I fished em out 😊 thank you!!!!
So the bog is part of the pond? Its a load of gravel to a side of the pond?
nice and clear but appears to have the tea color which is caused by “tannins “ just wanna help buddy i had the same problem.
There's an office building I go to that has a giant turtle pond in the middle with a mini waterfall and it's so green and murky and so sad. No plants at all.
Hi, I have a question, so im planning to plant some floating aquatic plants in my turtle enclosure, and i made a sort of like pot thing for the plant so the turtle won't be able to destroy it but im worried that it will release harmful chemicals as i made it from plastic bottles, any advice?
I wish plastic bottles broke down!!! It shouldn't release anything. The issue with garbage in the ocean is that plastic DOESN'T break down 😋 you're safe, no worries
@@DanTheTurtleMan_ Thanks for the advice!
What are the plants that you used?
Irises, pickerelweed, some type of rush, umbrella palm
I have seen so many people use bog filters after I made my bog filter video, I think serpa design actually tried to copy my pond.
How do you keep mosquitos out of your pond?
Small fish like minnows/mosquito fish
What about a 1 acre pond?
Just saying ya should have like one midroll ad
Not allowed on vids less than 10min but I appreciate you looking out!
Do turtles dig in the pond?
I mean do they tear up the liner??
& yaa That was a great info
No they don't :)
@@DanTheTurtleMan_ thanks for the rply man.
Now i can get a turtle for my pond😅
I'm an instagram follower for a long time but I deactivated my account last week. 🤣
Nawp, I got dirt. Lots n lots of floating clay type, UHHHHHGLI DIRT 😡 in my 25,000 gallon, now koi, originally swim, pond. Oh, koi LOVE IT! So much so, I accidentally found their love children while netting leaves 😳😁🤣. OOPS! Hey, makes me happy, but come on man! I want to see them! Each koi has grown at least 5" in 3 months, because there's CHARKS in that water now 🦈🦈🦈🦈🦈. Don't dare fall in! Biggest was a 10"er, and now she's well over 18" 😍 but, being well takin care of, can do that to ya!🤣
I don't know if anyone noticed,
The big pipe in the bog had baby koi 😅
thank you so much for explaining how the filtration system works domo ariyadoeauzainimas pour expliquez les filtration system de l'eau et l'eau de pipeline et terrestrial ecosystems! Jinjiaro comzahommida
Hello Dan,
I hope this email finds you well.
I have been watching your turtle videos and I have to say I am impressed.
I also have a channel about aquaponics called "Aquaponics Revolution" and would love to interview you on my channel to share your experience on keeping turtle in a good environment.
Please let me know if such collaboration seems interesting from your side to grow both channels.
Anyway keep up the good work :)
Passionately,
Jonathan
Is salmonella with turtles legit, own two for over a year now, only found out about this and now cautious about cleaning and holding?
just wash hands after handling
Yes some turtles can carry salmonella. As long as you wash your hands after you clean the enclosure or handle your turtle you will be fine. Some people say just think of your turtle as a piece of raw chicken.
Why keep aquarium....if you can keep clean pond....😌😌
don't trust a guy that runs a skimmer like that, haha
Ok, but how did you make it? ( ͡❛ 👅 ͡❛)
The entire pond? I have a video on that!
@@DanTheTurtleMan_ I just saw it lol. Thanks. Was that gravel you used?
@@COOL_DAD Yes, gravel. Pea gravel actually!
That is not crystal clear water to me lol
