    Wow I can’t believe this. I was getting frustrated with my pond water. A 1600 litre pressure filter (new foams fitted) and good pump, a separate ‘box’ filter pumped from a surface skimmer and enough UV’s to be seen from outer space and still it didn’t have that sparkle it once had. Sure it’s probably slightly overstocked and the wife’s pond lilies (I gave in on that one) are growing and a south facing garden. Yesterday I put 2 bags of 500grams of activated carbon in the ‘box filter’ and less than 24 hours later I can see the creases in the liner. Sir, you are a genius. Subscribed ☑️.

      It's comments like this which is why we do what we do! Glad your having the same success as us, just don't forget to change the carbon every 60 days. Don't throw it out, bake it at 180 degrees for 20 minutes and you can re use it

    That's amazing results in that timeframe Jack and Ben. That seems like a great Aquarium tip carried over to a pond application.
    I haven't considered integrating activated carbon into I'm filtration system yet. But now you have me reevaluating. Lol

    A up jack. Love the channel.
    I have a big project on this weekend. Just curious if your busy if you would like to help and you could film and use the content for your channel. Basically my dad has a pond in the field next to him in woore. His neighbour has stocked it with 200 trout. Since the warm weather has started and the farms been muk spreading. Ammonia is leeching into the pond and killing the fish. So this weekend the plan was to make two huge filters for the lake. We have two huge totes and a massive submerged pump. The plan was to diy make some huge filtration and try to save the fish. Let me know if your interested of course it’s fine if your not was just thinking it might make some great content for your channel and I’d certainly appreciate your expertise?

    Leafs can be ☠ to koi/fish in general, but just a little TIP "TBR" regarding the activated carbon (When carbon is exhausted, you can dry or. Cook dry to reactivate it 😉 ). 👍

      you can use an oxidizing agent like caustic soda to very quickly and more efficiently and more energy or heat efficiently paired with hot water from your geyser clear out the gunk in the micro pores of the activated carbon and you can read All About It online on the activated carbon production company sites this is a much more efficient and effective method than just cooking at or gas heating it

    • @TheBaldingReefer
      @TheBaldingReefer  2 роки тому +1

      foam is due to high protein, put a jacobs cracker in your pond, your koi will eat it and this will get rid of the foam. i dont know why it works, i just know it does!

    Hi 2 months ago I installed a 11w uv filter to my koi pond it cleared up the green water but now its gone brown any suggestions please x

    • @yugandharbeesetty905
      @yugandharbeesetty905 Рік тому

      Brown as in clear brown or turbid brown. If it’s clear brown, adding activated coal will to your filter should take care of it like it’s shown in this video. If the brown is turbid, that means your UV is killing the algae just fine but your filter is not properly filtering out the dead algae and even the waste from the fish. You may want to add some good mechanical filtration material to your filter.

    okay so a critical mistake is leaving activated carbon for longer than 60 to 90 days in the pond since we know it has expired and I'm guilty of this no wonder I'm struggling since it's releasing tannin back into the water. critical piece of info neglected or forgotten
