It took you just as long to write the not real names as it would have taken to produce the real names or even the numbers. Some of us are not good at selecting colors and so appreciate those who can do it so well. The rooster is beautiful! Thank you
I have never heard of using baby oil as a blender, wow, it was amazing to see! Thank you so much for the lesson I don’t have any experience in using colored pencils but now I think I may give it a try. You’re certainly a great inspiration!
Baby oil is not archival. It can yellow and change the colors as well as bleed and change the paper color. Do not recommend unless you're just playing around and don't plan to display or sell the piece.
Actually I did't know till I saw your videos that color pencils are also good and effective media of art......thanks a lot.....now I am trying on it.......
I saw hundreds of beautiful wild chickens in Kauai, Hawaii, including a lot of gorgeous roosters. Have nice reference photos, but needed guidance in how to do them in CP. Your video was wonderful & I will watch it several times. I never thought I would need an electric eraser, but I can see how it really helps with highlights. Thanks for a beautiful demo!
Thank you Fadil! This tutorial is perfect for me as beginner. It is a complete package needed to draw the subject, i.e. the tools to be used, color of the pencils and the working drawing of the rooster...perfect!!! Hope all your succeeding tutorials will be the same like this..You're so generous person. More power to you Fadz. Ohh!! I just wonder why you did not include its feet..lol
i never heard that baby oils are good for blend a drawing after I watched this! Thankyou for a new information. Your rooster are realistic too, good job!
Thank you sir for drawing the hyper realistic rooster .I drew it and now every one I appreciating me.you are the best artist I have seen. I really want to appreciate you and your drawings. And sir please draw a a macow bird
This is just beautiful! I have been practicing my watercolour skills but I'm in the mood to use my coloured pencils again and this beautiful tutorial has inspired me:) Thank you so much!
I have stumbled upon your channel tonight and have been transfixed watching video after video. What talent you have, amazing. Please can you tell me what paint brush you're using in this for the blending please?
Fantastic!!!!!!As usual ..i feel solvents will intensify poly more than prisma..also with poly i get color uniformity..since it contains soyabean oil in its lead....may be others opinion differs,,,
+Sathish Kumar Thank you. One thing is sure. Poly works way better with solvents. And we can use pencils over oil too. Wax based pencils are slippery over oil.
Baby oil is a meadium for colour blending.... awesome... and the chicken also. 😍😍😍 loved ur work. Can u please make a video about how to colour skin with faber castle pencils. Please.
Jade below had a comment asking what type of brush you used to blend in the baby oil. I would like to know as well. I primarily only paint with watercolors, so only have watercolor brushes and one scrubber brush; however, I'd like to try to incorporate this blending technique in with my colored pencils projects so please do let us know what type of brush you are using. Thanks and keep up the great work and thanks for sharing!
Would you recommend prismacolor colored pencils? I've watched a lot of people draw with them and have had really good results but they almost seem too oily... If that makes sense lol.
+ItsMeEmma B they are really good pencils. Vibrant colors too. But they break easily and quality of wood casing is bad. I still use them along with polychromos.
I don t understand the multiple use of colors for the feathers and what is the shadow. It looks beautiful but I am a beginner and I would like to know what are the main principle you have to put the colors like that.Thank you!
You know, next time I should just show others that they don't need a perfect sketch to color something fantastic. Actually, I did abandon a lot of drawings, because the outline looked too stupid. I should really pick them up again and finish them. Great video, thanks!
Hello again Art@Fadil, firstly i want to say, your drawings are fantastic, and inspiring, and i have taken back up drawing again since whatching your tutorials and various videos.... could i possibly ask for a request, there is a bird called the eurasian golden oriole, its a bird of mostly yellow, with black wings, so not much variation on colour. i would love to see how you would go about drawing/colouring a bird of which there is mostly one colour and how you bring the details out :) All the Best and have a wonderful new year ! :)
Which do you think is better? The Prismacolor or the Polychromos? I'm planning on getting the full set soon and I still don't know which one to go with. If money wasn't a problem, would you have gotten yourself the Prismas or the Polys? Thank you! By the way, your art is always amazing! Thanks for inspiring me and other artists!
+Anxious Blob if you are more into layering and using solvents then polychromos is the best. its also has far better build quality. but if you like burnishing or portrait drawing prisma is better. btw you wont regret buying any of these.
+Art@Fadil I see, I'm actually a beginner and I'm more of a watercolor artis, but I've seen another artist use the Polychromos to add details and layers to their artworks, would the Prismas be able to achieve the same results or are they way too waxy for that job? And thank you so much for the knowledge!
Poloychromos are oil based so it won't get waxy. Faber also has watercolor pencils Faber-Castell® Albrecht Durer Watercolor, I haven't used them, so I can't say. I hear that Prismas break and the quality assurance has gotten worse (leads are not centered in the wood which means they break easier); I don't know if that's true though. If you're a beginner you might want to get something cheaper to practice with and save the good stuff for your finished work. Also, the paper you choose is important -if you didn't know that.
+Soldiershak Hi, thanks for the nice reply! I have actually purchased both full sets and I have to say I am by far more impressed with the Prismacolor soft-core pencils! The quality isn't as bad as people make it out to be, yes, most of the leads are off-centered, however, I have not yet had any breakage. I also use just a normal cheap handheld sharpener. As for the Polychromos, I had mine delivered from Amazon and I was so disappointed when mine arrived in such an awful condition, the leads were chipped and there was dust that came from the chipped leads everywhere, even the pamphlet, I had to clean them right away! Anyway, both work in different ways and have different strengths and weaknesses. Don't get me wrong, I definitely love both! But my Prismas will always be my favorite.
Ahh, I ordered mine from Amazon and a few of the pencils were out of place which made me very concerned, I ordered the wooden case set, I figure I either got lucky that the pencils weren't damaged or the case protected them from flying all around. My first experience with Prisma wasn't good the lead was breaking and falling out when I tried to use them and sharpen them, I saw a different video where this lady had the same issues, so I tend to avoid Prisma stuff, but it's good that you're having a better time with them.
Hi Fadil, Firstly, I love your channel and well explained tutorials, appreciate you sharing your talent and knowledge with us. Was just wondering if the baby oil spreads slowly after you finish the drawing? I have just gotten back into art and drew a realistic cherry the other day using Prismacolor premier pencils and used baby oil as the solvent (as per your recommendation). Today I opened my sketch book after a couple of weeks since I drew the cherry and there seems to be a thick ring of oil spread around the cherry. Have you experienced this? Am I, perhaps, only experiencing this issue due to incorrect paper usage (in a Canson visual diary)? Thanks for your help
+Nicole Netto Hi Nicole. i always advice against using baby oil in excess. use it in minimal quantities. dip the brush first and wipe off the excess with a paper towel. then only apply it. this way you will have to scrub the brush to blend. use it just like a blending stump. scrub till it gets smooth. be sure to use a brush used for acrylic or oil with firm bristles . soft brushes like watercolor brushes cant be used.
Won't the baby oil soak the paper? I can see some wet patterns behind the paper also. I'm using a sketchbook so when I turn the page, it looks odd for me. Is it how it works or am I doing something wrong? 😅
He uses an electronic eraser to lift colour, rather than adding white over the top. I'd never seen one before and I'm looking at my local art shop right now to get one for myself. This guy does amazing work. I'd also never seen anyone use baby oil to blend. It really makes the colours pop.
I didn't know that you can blend the polychromos with water as aquarellable pencils... I thought you were using the Albretch Dürer but no! they are the clasic pencils... How do you blend them with the brush?
When you outline prior to starting your coloring, do you use graphite pencils? I tried that recently, but when I went to blend, the graphite smeared and ended up showing through the colors I had created :( I don't know if I had just pressed too hard, or if I was supposed to blend the edges differently, but any tips would be very much appreciated..
If you notice at the beginning, he mostly erases his graphite line before coloring in. That way it's not going to smear when he colors up against it. Darker colors don't matter as much, but it's still a good practice to erase before coloring. (You'll still be able to see your reference line.)
Fadil- your art is fabulous!!..please tell me -do you have to wait for the baby oil to dry before using more pencil? Will fixative dry it so more pencil can go onto the paper??
its a beautiful art piece as I am beginner for colour pencil can you suggest me which white colour pencil are good for colour blending and high lights I mean which brand please
June 2/17 - Wow baby oil, that's cool! I had some, not using it so I will utilize it in these drawings, thanks for making this video and your time. (smiles).
Hey, could you plz help me.. I was planning upon to buy a set of pencil colours, but I'm a bit confused that whether I should buy prismacolors premier or derwent coloursoft.. I've polychromos set of 60 but in that set there isn't a proper skin shade.. So which one would you prefer?
Hey i just want to ask that if i use a soft paper and blend it with baby oil will i be able to add more layer or i should use a hard papet as the water color paper
Amazing drawing :D! This is really magical to look how it becomes more realistic with every move. I was curious if I can achieve similar effect with Koh-I-noor Mondeluz? And does using water give worse effects than using baby oil ;)?
+DreamerFromTheGalaxy thank you so much. I havent use water color pencils yet. So i cant really say about that. But why dont try it yourself. It would be fun!
You're very good at teaching. I love your picture and how you explain all the steps. I will do this exercise from you to learn. I haven't tried baby oil, yet. I have a question: I use Faber Castell Polychromos, will the baby oil change colors or paper in time? Thank you for paying attention to my comment.
Thank you so much :) I dont think baby oil will change the color over time. Its just like a mineral oil and it dries up fast. I have been using this for more than a year and none of my drawings has changed.
Thank you very much for the quick answer. I'll go and buy it now. ;o) What I like, too, you are telling the names of the colors (here e.g. from Polychromos), because often I struggle which color to use.
I did my exercise of your rooster yesterday night, certainly by using the baby oil. The colors appear much more vibrant and blend easily. It gave my colorwork a paintly look. I am very happy about it. Thanks again !
What solution are you using for blending, is that alcohol solution? Will it work with Prisma color pencils? Please give details about the blending brush too. Awaiting your comment. Thank you.
for those who don't know, it works because faber castell polychromos are oil based pencils
“It”?
The Gamer oh thank you i was referring to the original comment though:)
That wasca wonderful demonstration. I have trouble drawing the shapes.
It took you just as long to write the not real names as it would have taken to produce the real names or even the numbers. Some of us are not good at selecting colors and so appreciate those who can do it so well. The rooster is beautiful! Thank you

+Johnnathan Korver Thank you so much 😀
Johnnathan Korver ,,,一{,.
Cheap and NON-TOXIC also!
It's mineral oil - means made out of petroleum. Not so non-toxic
Baby oil is not archival. It can yellow and change the colors as well as bleed and change the paper color. Do not recommend unless you're just playing around and don't plan to display or sell the piece.
Seriously! A realistic expectation drawing by you only
You should put it in an art museum this is the best drawing I've ever seen!!!
You are one of the finest artist
You're amazing! Thank you so much, because of you I'll finally start drawing with pencil colors. You make it look so easy!
+Venusian Serpent Thank you. Glad it helped. 😊
Actually I did't know till I saw your videos that color pencils are also good and effective media of art......thanks a lot.....now I am trying on it.......

i followed the exact steps and the result was amazing! it looks realistic!

Does using baby oil take away the archival properties of the colored pencils?

Yes, watercolour is a wonderful medium. I love painting with them. I look forward to seeing your watercolour projects:)
+Carla A. I am planning on doing some videos in the coming months :)
Just spent half an hour trying to find my baby oil, did find it though. Cant wait to try this!!!!!!!
Couldnt find my electric eraser though 😔
I did it without the oil and the electric eraser and it worked well :v
Very beautifull, wonderful rooster
Thank you :D
Your drawing is beautiful! i can never get ny pencils to blend so prettily. I will have to try a brush instead of a blending stump.
Try it! its way easier than stumps :) Thank you :D
Your the real thing. A most remarkable exersize. Thank You.
Beautiful indeed. Is this the 12 color set?
no its 24 set. Thank you .
Wow, amazing tutorial! I never would have thought to use baby oil to blend the colors together 😮
WOW!!! That was amazing!! Congratulations! 😍
Awsome work.
Can "Inktense pencils" be used instead of poly pencils.
Really beautiful piece of work and so lovely to watch you doing it. You make it come alive.
+Sue Wilkinson Thank you so much :)
Baby oil is a meadium for colour blending.... awesome... and the chicken also. 😍😍😍 loved ur work. Can u please make a video about how to colour skin with faber castle pencils. Please.
Hey Fadil, would you recommend using baby oil for blending for wax-based colored pencils like Prismacolor? :D
Btw, your drawing skill are amazing. ^.^
yes they can be used for both oil based and wax based pencils. Thank you :)
tell me how much do you practised in childhood to make your drawings like this?
Wowww!! Great!
OMG this looks so great.
+Omkar Patil Thank you so much :)

Thank you :D i used a cheap synthetic flat brush. any firm synthetic brush will do. avoid soft natural brushes.
pretty awesome
BRILLIANT! Wonderful work! Inspiring!!
Thank you so much :D
Wow!!! Ur drawing is beautifull i like ur blending technique i can see u are an artist
Such a simple yet effective process.
This is amazing! Thank you for showing us the process- it's very impressive.
A beautiful drawing, well explained and a great overall instructional video on how to use and blend Faber Castell polychromos pencils. Well done!
hello Art@Fadil..the rooster is beautiful but can u tl me would coconut or almond oil work fr blending instead of baby oil.
no. baby oil is a mineral oil. unlike other oils. after all baby oil is cheap and easily available.
+Art@Fadil ahhh ok, I'll have to look into them more, thx for the response.
great idea with the baby oil
Beautiful. Very talented
Can you do more color pencil drawing tutorials like this I really like this one
hello sir...I am new student, I love your art.and love u sir....
Nice trick with the babyoil. I didn't know you could blend certain colored pencils with it. I assume it only works with oil based colored pencils?
+Jessus Channel you can use it with any oil or wax based pencils.
Really? I have to try it out sometime. Thanks!
I don t understand the multiple use of colors for the feathers and what is the shadow. It looks beautiful but I am a beginner and I would like to know what are the main principle you have to put the colors like that.Thank you!
Felicia Alecu look at a reference (it's allowed), and see some videos about color theory ;)
You know, next time I should just show others that they don't need a perfect sketch to color something fantastic. Actually, I did abandon a lot of drawings, because the outline looked too stupid. I should really pick them up again and finish them.
Great video, thanks!
Hello again Art@Fadil, firstly i want to say, your drawings are fantastic, and inspiring, and i have taken back up drawing again since whatching your tutorials and various videos.... could i possibly ask for a request, there is a bird called the eurasian golden oriole, its a bird of mostly yellow, with black wings, so not much variation on colour. i would love to see how you would go about drawing/colouring a bird of which there is mostly one colour and how you bring the details out :)
All the Best and have a wonderful new year ! :)
amazing !! and i think i still cant make that rooster so live hahahaha

Wow !! Very useful , usefuland clearly curated !!
Please what is the best paper to use for animal illustrations and these coloured pencils?
Excellent! Brilliant! You are great artist!
Woww. Very grateful for this video. Thank you for appreciating coloured pencils
Hi Fadil,
Firstly, I love your channel and well explained tutorials, appreciate you sharing your talent and knowledge with us.
Art@Fadil Thanks so much for your clear and detailed explanation! I will give that a go!
Won't the baby oil soak the paper? I can see some wet patterns behind the paper also. I'm using a sketchbook so when I turn the page, it looks odd for me. Is it how it works or am I doing something wrong? 😅
How long did it take you from start to finish? Does the baby oil dry eventually or do you have to be careful not to smudge the drawing?
nice bro u r a good drawer and good at coloring
dude,he is not a drawer
What kind of white gel pen do you use for the shine? My white is not as good as yours.
+alvincent00 no you cannot blend polychromos with water. I used baby oil.
Ok. Thank you! I'll studdy that ´cause I didn´t know.

I mean which brand please

+Sahiba Sheikh then its best to buy prismacolor portrait 24 color set. it will work well together with poly. and they are very cheap now 😊
after blending with baby oil will the polychromo pencil again work on it?? doesn't it create any issue??
Really nice!
Question:
Is the blender (baby oil) really necessary when creating realistic drawings with POLYCHROMOS color pencils?
✌
Hey i just want to ask that if i use a soft paper and blend it with baby oil will i be able to add more layer or i should use a hard papet as the water color paper
you're awesome at this you just got yourself a new subscriber
Beautiful work!
+Maree Torrumbarry Thank you :)
by the way I tried making it.. and It came out beautifully.. thankyou so much! great work.. keep doing
i love this video its useful and fast but everything is so easy u cant get last here thanx so much

I am glad you tried it and found it useful. :) keep drawing!
Beautiful colors😍❤️
thank you 😍
Will the baby oil dry after drawing? Or it will stick
Thank you for explaining what you are doing step by step. I will try this.
Love the colour pencil drawings. I use colour pencil as well.
Thanks 4 these videos. All are great. 👍🏻👍🏻
I really like the color, it look like natural one
superb superb 😍
Beautiful! The red skin under the throat is called the "wattle".
What solution are you using for blending, is that alcohol solution? Will it work with Prisma color pencils? Please give details about the blending brush too. Awaiting your comment. Thank you.
