Great video! For me its always more fun using cheaper equipment because it feels like i'm the one controlling what the photo/video looks like, rather than just the camera doing all of the work.
3:31 this shot is absolutely breathtaking. I have the Fuji x100s and have been looking to get a cheaper alternative for my partner for his birthday cause he loves the way it shoots. After watching this video I went and got this exact set up for him. The film like effect of this setup is absolutely breathtaking. This is such a well done video, good job and thank you!!!
E-M10II rocks! It also goes well with Panasonic 20/1.7 for an almost pocketable solution. One of the things people suggest to emulate film photography is to use 256/512 MB memory cards, so you get no more than 100 frames per walk.
Great combo. Those EM10s are great little cameras. Paired with a pancake is very clever. I use an EM10ii as my primary camera and an old EPL1 with an Olympus 17mm, f/2,8 pancake lens and I have to say the lens choice literally revived my interest for this camera. I use it daily and I am having so much fun it's almost hard to describe. Great video Nigel. Keep it up!
What a chill little oasis this video was in the midst of the chaos that is UA-cam. Reminded me that rekindling my other creative outlets can become feeder systems of new inspiration for whatever has been my recent focus.
I definitely understand losing that urge to take pictures. The nostalgic feeling film gives is something I love. Also fell in love with mft because of this video
YOOOOO! Max here! Dude, HUGE thank you for dropping this absolute masterpiece of a video! I was sitting here, minding my own business, thinking I knew a thing or two about photography… but man, you just dropped some serious knowledge bombs! 🤯 Every second was like, BOOM-next-level insight after next-level insight! You've got a new fan here, my friend. Keep rocking this awesome content; I’m officially hooked! Much love and thanks again, you LEGEND. 📸🔥🤘
I have been shooting the TTArtisan 25/2 for three weeks now on my E-M5 II, and it is such a lovely pairing, that I hardly take it off. The lens exudes the same combination of solid compactness and quality like the E-M5 II (magnesium alloy body). It is such a blast from the past shooting this combo with the screen flipped in. It really fels like shooting with the Minolta XD7, the Pentax ME or the Olympus OM10 with their respective nifty-fifties I used ten years ago and now are sitting on a shelf. And the 25/2 is really tiny. Maybe a millimeter thicker than the Pany 20/1.7 but with a smaller diameter.
Nigel, my father used to be a photographer. I have around 5 to 6 film cameras and I can give one of them to you for free. Yashica, Canon, Nikon are available I think. The only thing is shipping and I will manage that til the US if you want one. Happy to help a mentor.
Such a chill out video, that makes me want to go out and shoot some images! To answer your question, besides photography and doing some video stuff...but none of it professional, I make music, but mostly for fun. Sometimes it´s a circle of inspiration, where photos lead to videos, which then inspire me to make some music.
Nice video. I picked up the EM10Mii a few years ago used and love using it. Then I picked up last year an EM10MiiiS so now I have two nearly identical camera bodies to carry around and they take awesome shots.
Found good for this kinda setup Fiji X-T1 (or E2/1) with any vintage/Chinese lens (depends on your preferences in focal length) Or for even more slow mode x100 or x-pro1 But wish to have E2 with flip up screen.
I had the E-M10 (first version) and the Olympus 17mm f/1.8 and loved that combo. I stopped taking pictures for a while and then last year I sold it all. Bad move.
It’s like the Lofi for photography haha. I’m in the same boat of not taking photos as much since like 2020, I miss it. I feel like photography for me has to be a hobby more so than part of my “job” if that makes sense. I feel like that’s how I got burnt out. Loved the photos btw!
That's a great video with detailed explanation, thank you so much! I can not decide and want to ask that - OM-D E-M5 Mark I or OM-D E-M10 Mark I ??? I only know one difference that M5 has addition as "weather sealing".
I fly quads as my main hobby, and tbh I love it, I don't think I'll burn out of it. I do make videos but it's genuinely more for me to track my progress as a pilot. Photography/videography is something im considering as a way I can up my game for video creation and add a kind of context layer.
Which settings do you use? Just bought the camera and not sure how to get a similar look than on the fuji. Which settings do you make to get the closest?
Cool shots. Ive been shooting em10ii past 3 years on my channel and praising it as best street camera. Wanting to do more vids with my em1ii and i think your the right guy to see about that 😆 haha just subbed
I've been getting into film photography lately and trying to enjoy my photography more. Liked this video. I know it was still gear but didn't seem like it really. Enjoyed it anyway. More photography stuff like this would be welcome alongside your video content.
I am really hearing good stuff about TT Artistians lens..I am starting to get back in to photography.. awesome pics u got ... The body Is awesome.. Olympus have great cams...I was making more videos as vlogs but I also started photography more seriously
When you do a review for a lens or any gear, you should add it to the title so people looking for reviews can find your amazing videos! I looked up a gear that I know you reviewed in the past and it didn't show up in the past. More people need to see your videos brah!
Just wondering why you don't shoot more B&W? B&W has more atmosphere/emotion/feeling; can see that in your work but the colour keeps getting in the way, annoying...
wow this is a coincidence, yesterday I also bought an em10 mark ii for streetphotography again , and I'm trying to make a short video from the camera, you can see the results on my channel if you're interested
I checked it out! really impressed with what you got out of this little camera, I wasn't really interested in it as a video camera but maybe I can use it for some extra shots when i need to!
Nice video! May I know what Olympus camera you are using to film this video? I’m planning on buying a camera and starting making videos and I think your video looks really good and cinematic!
@@NigelBarrosthank you so much for your reply! I really appreciate it! Your color grading/editing skills are amazing! I hope you make a video about it soon! ✨🤞🏻
Hi Nigel, great video. I love the color grading on this video. It looks very filmic. I heard you are recently color grading in Davinci Resolve. Did you stop using FilmConvert Nitrate? It would be great if you make a video showing us how you color grade in Davinci Resolve. Thank you Nigel. You are my favorite UA-camr. I have been a long time viewer. Nigel, also, how to you get around your cameras hissy preamps?
I only use resolve to create my own custom LUTs but all my main work is done inside of premiere using filmconvert, cinematch and the lumetri color tab. As for my hissy preamps, the way I get around it now is to turn off my E-m1's plug in power, that gets rid of the hiss and gives me nice crispy audio
@@NigelBarros thank you Nigel for the reply. I always enjoy your videos very much. Thank you for being an inspiration to budget filmmakers everywhere. Can’t wait for your next video and podcast.
I allways just buy the exact same cameras you suggest. The diffrence is that i with three small kids and a full time job i just use the cameras in my dreams at night.
Lovely editing and color. BTW I keep pausing at the repeated scene like at 6:28. If there is someone standing at the end of the paved road with beautiful morning fog and a bit of sunray. That would be a beautiful picture!

Great video Nigel. Keep it up!
I love the 4:3 ratio you filmed and used for the edit. Feels just so different idk how to describe it😅
Your videos are always a good watch. Such a awesome and calm vibe to them. Really dig the 4:3 look for this.

I really loved this video!! So calm, immersive and beautiful ♥
This videos is beautiful, love the vintage format
Can't thank you enough for this video. Unknowingly I ran exactly into the camera I've been looking for. Cheers!
Your shot at 1:52 looks fantastic! I dig the aspect ratio too.

Do you use any presets?
What camera did you used for the shot you recorded i mean the video you shot
I've had both the E-M10 i and ii, and the E-M5 i and, truly, the IQ just seemed better from the E-M5 i. I wish I hadn't sold it!

Canon 5D “classic” is a great film substitute
Amazing video, can you tell me why you didn’t just get an older compact Fujifilm camera like the x100s again?
This camera is micro 4/3?
Great camera! I learned on the same Olympus you have now. Later I changed to Fujifilm. Olympus makes some cool cameras, too bad Pen-F is discontinued.
I didnt understand if the camera included presets film looks like a fuji ?

would you say the Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III S Digital Camera with 14-42mm II R Lens be about the same thing or better or no?
Fujifilm xt10 or xt20 or this one?

5d classic with a nifty fifty
