Getting this for sure for Switch. I love anything character driven with unique combat and anime art style/cutscenes. Backlog is kind of insane right now but what the hell. I’m a gamer dammit.

Huh, from your description this game sounds a little like a cross between Persona and Sword Art Online, only without the most common problems people have with the two series. Sounds like a buy to me. Looking forward to it.

I'm gonna give this game a go. Wasn't trying to play it on Switch so I'll have to wait for street date to play on PC. Seems like a game that's right up my alley
It's always kind of weird for me seeing someone I'm subscribed to commenting on other videos. But yeah, except for the part about the PC version, I'm planning on getting this too. I've been curious about it ever since I saw it pop up on the list of upcoming games on Nintendo's E-shop and this review finally sold me on it.

Thoughts:
Even after the explanation, I think this is one of those battle systems where I won't know if it's for me until I play it myself
The dungeon theme transitioning into the battle theme with vocals is pretty freaking cool.
Think I'll pick this up on sale. Nice review as always.
The game had a lot of cool concepts but EXTREMELY lazy execution. There's no real character animation, the social links advance at a glacial pace with barely any development, the fights are way too easy, too much generic jpop, etc.
I do live the 2d character art and the focus on psychology and character interactions. The director says he wants the to be a franchise so I hope he listens well to the criticism.
review so soon? nice cus i was interested in this game. visually what it bothers me is tha the characters can be abit clunky, i guess its because the is a remaster originally made for the vita. i really liked the visuals of the menus and the character design. im not expecting it to be the best jrpg ever but ill probably will give it a try, i just dont know in wich platform yet. i thougth about the switch but if it has performnce issues maybe ill get it on the ps4

I platinumed this on PS4 and quite liked the overall concept, story and characters, but the graphics and animations were awful, it felt so dated, the mouths didn't move either. It had great music, but they really cut costs everywhere else especially the NPCs. The battle system character movements were kind of awkward and stick like as well. The Second group was a huge improvement in everything.
Viewing combat as a means to an end is such a weird take. I cant imagine being happy with so much of a game being mindless and unengaging
Theres little doubt in my mind that this game will be amazing, people putting it off for pc release is understandable, but people putting it off for its resolution (550-650) on the switch while im handheld, and its low framerate is just silly. You guys have options, that is only one of them. I wouldnt put off a whole game because one of the ports doesnt perform to perfection (even though it still trumps the og version by miles)

I have this on PS4, and so far haven’t noticed any frame drops. I suppose my issue with it right now is that the dungeons don’t have a lot of variety (like you mentioned), and sometimes battles can drag on if more enemies join in. Realizing now that it’s meant to be played as a dungeon crawler, rather than a traditional RPG, may change my perspective on it, because I was getting a bit bored with how long the dungeons seemed and how long the normal encounters dragged on. Thanks for the vid!

When I briefly tried it for vita I couldn't get the battle system and after watching the videos, I think I still don't get it.
I'm still going to give it a shot but I don't think it's worth 50 in my opinion. I will give it a chance at 20 but with the amount of great jrpg's releasing on switch, I don't think I'm going to have the time to play it or the money to buy it.

The main story being just 25 to 30 hours long seems fine to me.

A little disappointed they didn't take the time to get an English cast for the "overdose" edition as that's how I prefer to consume most Japanese media but I'll still probably pick this game up. Maybe I'll get Death End Request first though.

Yeah, I also would have liked an English dub but the JP dub here is pretty good. It didn't bother me too much after a couple of hours. :)
No English dub seems to be the norm for these low budget rpgs.

I know alot of people are hyped for a switch port, and I know having a switch version is a great thing, but why us (people who already have it) should be hyped? Its a 2 year old game that most owners played to death, yes I wouldve prefered playing it portably like golden, but Ive already experienced it on ps4. I see soo many people wishing for a port, I just dont get the reason why (again, for us who have played it already). Much more hyped for the Catherine remake and Q2 releases

@Streyga Q Persona 5 r might be the revisited version with new content added like the expanded versions for persona 3 and 4 . There's a ton of cut content that didn't make into the game that they might bring with a revisited version so that is what it MIGHT be.
I was surprised by the music 😄 5:12 it was pretty good. Then 5:22 then the vocals came in tearing down the well composed instrumental. 😐
Will skip it! What's with developers not optimizing their game for handheld. 480p on handheld is a joke. It's like their not even trying at all. If Breath of the Wild looked amazing on Handheld, with how huge the game was then a game like this should with no problem. Shitty job = no money from me.
BotW used dynamic resolution scaling and also dipped well below 720p. I don't have the tools needed to check exactly what resolution Caligula Effect dips to, probably not quite as low as 480p, maybe 576p (similiar to Xenoblade Chronicles 2).
This is also a MUCH lower budget title than BotW, and had several years less development time...
Just sounds like some lame excuse for this guy not to try it. Must be other things holding him back
You’re comparing a passion project from a small team to one of the games with the longest dev cycles in Nintendo’s history. I want to be forgiving to these people as they didn’t even need to bring the game over and I want to judge it on story and gameplay. You’re, of course, free to not try it still.
