      I am pretty frustrated with my first ECells shopping experience. I purchased mine when the site was still showing a May delivery date. I've now been contacted and told it will not arrive until June and that the Gates Belt Drive that I ordered did not make it onto my order. I am considering canning the order entirely and going with another company that can hopefully hold up their end of the bargain.

    E-cells vs w*BEEEP*d - WHO WILL WIN???
    Cool to see this segment blowing up. The performance and price point of these types of bikes makes a mockery of the rest of the market. 4" tires, full suspension, and ~2000W of rear hub motor is a dream combo, all for under $2K.

      @@jfly2249 the wired freedom though a nice bike is really about $2600 out the door when it gets shipped to you. Quite a bit more expensive than this bike which is at the very least as good as the wired freedom, and has good people behind it that support veterans and give back to the community.

      @@jfly2249E Cells is still like 600 cheaper if you don't need or want the extra battery. That's a great deal since they don't charge for shipping or tax compared to Wired and they offer their bike without an extra battery. I haven't ridden both so I'm not sure if I could even tell the difference between the two controllers.

    wow a great 5 star road/trail journey!
    thanks for taking us along on the ride!
    my sister live in Antioch awhile and Ive walked some of those trails. the scenery is outstanding with rolling hills & ranches here & there. then on to the waterways - a nice adventure.
    I had noticed the chain stay guard wasnt there & yeah an ez fix [my other ebikes came with those] surprise surprise a cheap ebike had those & the derailleur protector. wow
    thats an ez fix too. just bolt on and slap/wrap the other n away we go.
    that slap guard is another place to get the logo on (!) ;)
    a derailleur guard? just a nice thing to have and for a few bucks it is ez to get. :)

The 2nd reason I purchased it was for the suspension 1st was the speed , so I really didn't get what was advertised . Really love the price point of the 5 star compaired to the wired , like $500 difference for a better warrantee and possibly better bike in all !!!

I before them bought the comparative ebike and and happy with it and super impressed with the customer service. Even shipped me a few things I personally ruined for free. I paid more but it is what it is and I am happy knowing they will take care of me/it and nothing else matters. If E-Cells prove that kinda of customer support then for sure I can see them Top ebike of '24! And even if they cant prove customer service, it seems to be proven on this video an awesome eBike! Saved $400 to improve it your self. Very excited either way! Kinda crazy how lucky we all are with all this new ebike technology coming along like it is! Nice job getting these last two videos out so quickly and doing it without compromising the content & video quality. Great job on the hill climbs. Question: where exactly did you plan on plugging in the charger? Have you done so in the past? I'd like to see you do a journey to a destination where you have to recharge at least a few times, maybe spanning a few days.
    Just got my Five Star yesterday, Monday, and I found most of the noncritical bolts not tight enough, kickstand, front basket, water bottle, rear rack. There is one feature that I find very useful that even Ecells does not mention, there is a usb port on the display. There is also one on the battery, but it is not useful while riding the bike, imho.

    • @shootthechit
      @shootthechit  Місяць тому +1

      I've done it a few ways in the past. One time I found an outlet at a park I was at, and other times the easy thing to do is get something to eat and plug it in wherever you stop at.
      Those USB ports are typically super slow chargers, makes them only worth using as a last resort imo. I bring along a USB battery pack if I need to charge on the trail.

    These bars are crazy high. Reminds me of ape hangers you see on some Harleys. If I get one I'd have to swap them out for normal mountain mike bars. Not sure what to do with all the extra wiring and brake cables. The Super Monarch has the bars I'd want.

    Silly question here, does the twist throttle on this bike modulate the speed like a motorcycle throttle or is it a simple on/off function? The few bikes i have ridden with thumb throttle were either on full power or off, no in between. Ive never ridden a bike with a twist throttle.

    • @shootthechit

      You can modulate the throttle, but its pretty sensitive. So its like a motorcycle, but more sensitive

    Are these 60 volt bikes using a motor specifically designed to operate on 60 volts or is it a 48 volt motor than can handle 60 volts? Hentach doesn't list any 60 volt motors on their website and the ecells original specs were 1200 watts, 120 nm torgue tested at 48 volts, then the new specs are 1500 watys, 147 nm. Same motor, just tested with a higher voltage. My concern with what I see with this is motor longevity. Motor would run all day long on 48 volts but subject to over heating on 60 volts and at the very least a much shorter life span. If I am wrong about this please explain.

    Flat out with Kevlar. I will be honest with you. I used to carry around a lot of extra stuff until I got a flat one day because I ran over a bolt that had a 3/8 inch shank.. I kept hearing this clicking noise so I pulled into a convenience store and then I saw the bolt head sticking out of my tire. Without thinking, I reached down and pulled it out. And of course, the tire went flat, even though I had flat out with Kevlar in the tube. So I pushed the bike over to the Little compressor said it a handful of quarters made sure that the hole in the tire was pointing down aired up my tire and was able to ride home. That was six months ago. I haven’t done anything else as far as fixing the flat tire lol.

      This bike is pretty good at climbing especially since it has the 11-34 rear cassette, but if you were going to do a ton of hills, I would also step down the front chainring to something smaller like a 46 tooth. You could do Hollywood sign on either right off the showroom floor, but you just have to turn up the assist more.

      @FreakyT333 Місяць тому

      @@shootthechit safe word lol 😂 ya let’s go with that… I get that they are basically the same bikes (newest wired version at least) aside from the frame and controller box. I’m still rocking the 23 cruiser and had planned to upgrade to the Freedom this year but it does seem this 5* is the better choice. I find myself riding harder and rougher terrain which is beating on my step through a bit more than I should. 0 issues after 1000+ miles on it though, even after some pretty rough outings.

    • @FreakyT333
      @FreakyT333 Місяць тому

      @@shootthechit ya man, I actually mounted a little Hemiway bag up front between the handlebars and forks carrying my electric pump and tools to add a little weight up there as I had a bad wobble when I let go. That did solve the issue and I can ride hands free now. The step through frame just has too much rear weight biased and flex, not great for riding spiritedly as one likes to do in their more experienced ebike miles… Great for cruising I just think I’m ready to graduate to full suspension.
