+1 love your videos John. I see boxed and complete Saturn wheels and arcade sticks all the time here in the UK for £20-£30. They're pretty common in the retro scene here for some reason. I nearly bought an unboxed example for £8 at the last retro fair I went to! Reach out man - happy to help if that's of interest to you.
Hey John I had to update you. As of today 8/31/24 I had completed the whole entire north American library every single game the last two game was the hardest vr gulf 97 and of course Daytona USA cce net link edition full jew case complete good condition. Wow this has been fun and I'm glad it's over thank you and Mr do it the wright way motivated me. I will upload the video on my channel once everything is in and on my eBay for sale if anybody you know has interest. Salute to you and your channel 💯
I say it every time. These are my favorite videos that you make. Allows other collectors to get a feel of what they would have to do to get everything for those specific sets. Keep up the great work Jon.
The Saturn is a beast and nowadays everyone try to play it... back in late 90’s my friends laughed when I was collecting Sega Saturn... 2020 they are amazingly surprised how good it is. You have a fantastic collection.
I love this kind of content. IMO it is what makes you and your channel unique. I could listen to you talk about collections all day. Your collecting stories are good stuff too! Congrats on completing the Saturn set
Man, CONGRATULATIONS, from Europe. Saturn is a great, great machine. Probably my favourite of all time. Also, I have to say, Saturn cases in US are... FANTASTIC, I love them, like bigger cd cases. Beautiful.
The sega Saturn is my favorite video game console and to see this complete collection really makes me happy! Can't wait for you to get your 30th complete collection!
Jesus, John F***ing Hancock . You sir, are THE MAN. I've been following you ever since before you started your channel, and I just wanna say how much I respect and love you collecting and collection. you deserve so much more praise then you get , but I know you'll soon get all the praise and respect you deserve. THANK YOU John. Thank you for your dedication and content.
This is insane to pull off. I have six Saturn games, and they are the ones my Dad bought new when I was a kid and the console was new. I quite literally never see any of them at flea markets, yard sales or thrift stores. And my local retro game store can barely offer like 5 crappy sports games for $10 each. This system is impossible to collect for without buying them on ebay for insane prices. Awesome to have all this man!
For those wondering. Shining Force 3: Scenario 2 and 3 and the Premium Disk can be played via fan translation patches. I'm assuming John knows which is why he mentioned they never came to the US "officially".
Finding a hard copy of Rampage World Tour is not easy for Saturn. Good job man. I have just a loose disc of that game and paid a lot just for the disc.
Hey John I wanna salute you and the channel I think you do a good with the content and keeping Sega and all retro games alive especially Sega 😁 I was looking at your collection of the Saturn and used it as blue print to collect the whole library which I'm about 89 games way in thought. I seen there is a north American game you missing or you didn't have it displayed in the video i look at it multiple times and I all so research before committing the game is Olympic soccer it was released in 96 also in North America I have it in my cart on eBay to purchase.is familiar with this game?
@@johnhancockretro Wow okok Kool.i really appreciate that you responded back nothing but respect for you. There was another game that was released and north American according to the Sega Saturn game list call thunderhawk 2 I search for a north American copy I could not find a visual picture to save my life the pal version and Japan version comes up and eBay shows nothing but when looking at the actual Saturn Games list and reaching this it is a game that was released and north American it was not cancelled I look at that list of games that was supposed to be released on the Sega Saturn and was not released in North America of course we know why for them reason. On that list I was very surprised that medieval was originally designed to be for Sega Saturn do to all the bad reason Sega hurt are hearts in North America 😔 not drag this out.but if it's not to much can do a review on them two games showing the one you left out for the fans
@@poleongriffis4262 Both games are shown. Olympic Soccer is shown at 1:28 but not a closeup. The other game is called Thunderstrike 2 and yes I have it. It is shown at 14:58 :). You are welcome :)
Sega Saturn was my first Retro purchase when I started casually collecting five years ago. Galactic Attack was my first game and wow....I love that game.
Congrats on the completion! I love your channel, you really have a passion for gaming, and you actually play them; they are not behind glass! It's also awesome to see SEGA stuff shown off and talked about!
As a collector of complete heavy metal LP label discographies, I know how hard it can be to get a complete set of rare stuff. Well done sir. Well done.
Incredible collection. The Saturn is still one of my favorite consoles, and so durable! I still have the Saturn I bought back in early 1997, and one of my traditions is playing Christmas NiGHTs around Christmastime.
Amazing! I have had the Saturn sense it's launch in 1995! You motivate me to finish my collection to a complete collection! There is also a Virtua Figher Remix in a normal cd jewel case cause that is what my copy is.
John this should not really be considered a challenge, you're immortal, you have forever to do it. You have done very well with these complete collections! I did have a complete NEO-GEO Japanese home cart collection, and around 15 years ago thinking they would never really get more expensive i sold a few that i had on MVS carts.... Big mistake wasn't it... Still got 71 left, but i won't make that mistake again!! I do not have a complete Master System collection as far as games go, got over 150 PAL carts complete, but what i DO have and ALWAYS wanted since i was a kid in the 80s and 90s is a complete collection of Master System consoles and all accessories boxed. Love the Saturn, i have no USA Saturn games in my collection, i do have a few Japanese games and about 44 PAL Saturn complete games and most of the accessories boxed, some Japanese but PAL.
Sega Saturn is the most Expensive system to collect for from all the main console producers in the late 90's 2000's. I've been retroing games and systems and I was thinking of going to get the Saturn but man? after checking it out I've decided to do the Gamecube or the Dreamcast(expensive too but not as) next. I've done the 360, SNES and Genesis, And right now doing the original Xbox. I will say anybody thinking of doing the Original Xbox do it now, As it is getting harder and more Expensive collecting for the system. I also suggest getting what you want on the 360 now cause by next year or the year after it will be too expensive especially on rare or cult followed games..
Hi new subscriber from the uk loving your channel. Game collecting not as popular in the uk as in USA so our small collecting community really are enjoying your videos. One thing that we have noticed is that we have not seen any American collectors doing videos on the Sinclair zx spectrum? Over here from 1982 it was massive and started the home video game scene . Hope you do a review soon , keep up the good work .
Great Video. I will always remember Christmas 1995 I think it was my then girl friend and myself pooled are money and got the Sega Saturn and two controllers plus Golf, Ice Hockey, Soccer, Bug, Sega Rally and the driving wheel. It was sure fun we played it for years we split up in 2001 I still have it all plus a few more games and played still from time to time.
congratulations on your collection of sega saturn stuff. I got to re-complete my personal japanese saturn set which was getting the regular cd with spine card copy of xmen vs street fighter~.
As a fellow gamer seeking to complete his collections on multiple consoles, I know how difficult it is. It is really impressive to see your CIB collections. Right now, I only have 3 complete US libraries and unfortunately none of them are CIB like yours. I really like your videos and hope that you will continue to make them for years to come. Take care. :)
Beautiful collection! I debated heavily when the N64 launched as to what console to get. It was between Saturn, PS1, and N64. I ended up with the N64 and later a PS1 so I never did get a Saturn until this year. No plans on a full set, just picking up titles I find interesting & plan to play (at some point lol). So far I have Nights (longbox) Earthworm Jim 2, Clockwork Knight, Myst, Daytona USA, Darius Gaiden, Panzer Dragoon I & II, Mr. Bones, and Christmas Nights.
Astal, Burning Rangers, Blazing Heroes(Mystaria),Dragon Force, Panzer Saga, Legend of Oasis, Saturn Bomberman ,and SHINING FORCE 3(my favorite game all time)!!! I miss those games. They need some remakes on a few of them.
Im about 15 games from a full set as well. Close to full genesis and dc too. 15 years!! Also like you i collect plenty of other stuff too but mainly Sega! Cheers.
Most underrated console of all time imo. I had it when it was new, and LOVED it!!! I got rid of mine like a teenage idiot (that I was). I bought another a couple of years ago and have 10 games or so. I dont really "play" my Saturn anymore though, I play the arcade counterparts of my favorite Saturn games on my MAME. Daytona USA, Virtua Fighter 2, Virtua Cop 1 and 2, House of the dead, and MANY more are amazing games either on arcades or on the Saturn.
BTW, I had MOST of these sports games back in the day. NBA Action (both of them) were AMAZING for their time, as was those World Series Baseball games. Interesting tidbits, those were 2K games before they became 2K.
Very nice collection, I LOVE videos showing complete sets, these are my favourites. I enjoy the Saturn too and you're right, it's becoming very hard and expensive to collect for it. I was trying to complete the PAL fullset, I'm 24 games away but they would cost me more than 2700€ altogether, including 3 games that are worth more than 200€ and 6 others between 100€ and 200€ :'( Way too much money that discouraged me and made me put this quest on hold until hypothetical better days.
The system I've wanted since I was a child, its always been such an interesting system to learn about and even experience. Sadly, The fun of simply collecting to enjoy the games doesn't really exist with this system anymore, unless you just absolutely love spending hundreds of dollars for each game you buy =/. Well, at the very least it was very very cool to see all the boxart laid out like that and have a really nice trip down memory lane =). Thanks for sharing!
