most elderly caucasians with small pensions would go to southeast asia especially to the philippines to entice young girls to be either their girlfriend, young bride or caregiver. young filipina girls see this an opportunity to get out of dirt poor, poverty. i mean, do you really believe that these young, beautiful filipinas would fall in love with old wrinkled old farts expats??? seriously 😅

Let me guess, you are the typical western man hating feminist. Want the power of a man, the privileges of a woman and the accountability of a toddler. Probably overweight, and can't keep a man around because it is their fault.. I have many friends married to pinay. Most have been married for a decade or more. Two have wives that are 35 years younger than them. They have been together in the US for and married for 14 years. They really happy. If these people were like you, they would have divorced the guy after they got here to climb the ladder. Before judging others, maybe you should look in the mirror. Guys like a traditional, feminine woman that takes care of herself. Nobody wants a manly female. No I don't know you, but based on your comments I know the type. Cat lady material.

And do you think Beautiful Linda Hamilton was in love with Peter Jackson? How about Beautiful Beyonce? Jayz looks like a frog. How about all the girls that fell "in love" with flavor flav? Lets get down to the women of the west that chases after a guy with a beautiful house and fancy car? Look at the fantasy shows that our women fantasize over. So Cinderalla didnt fall in love with the baker or the builder. She fell in love with Prince Charming that looked good and had his daddies money. Dont be a hypocrite because an expat goes to get what makes him happy and a Filipina does what changes her life for the better. They both meet each others needs. Who are you to talk trash? Those who live in glass houses.

@@lennyclark1998 not sure you ever dated an asian girl. perfect skin, nice body and exotic look(mostly) is whats on the outside. once you had a "local girlfriend" you will see it's not just the money. they are genuinely interested in a guy who has knowledge, who can make a decision, traveled an other country, has an interesting job etc. and F*CK!*G PLANS his new life to move to an other continent. and engages in adventures.
the same little things we love to see them do differently they see in us as well.
again, if it's just the money, she actually might be a gold-digger or maybe he is a boring guy who ruins her expectation and only stays on the sofa the whole day. NO woman in this word would tolerate this.
gold diggers and manipulative women are in every country. but the majority of girls (everywhere) are just normal.
so if you find a "normal girl" which you think is attractive and who loves you its more than just money. trust me.
the majority are really happy with a Western man.
(not all of course, but thats life)

As a white female that is fascinated by your story telling, I agree with all the above. Whether in the Philippines or the US.
I always felt I was supposed to look like a lady when in public, and save my tramp side for the bedroom with my man.
I’m in my 60s, so that meant I didn’t follow the trends over the years. No boob job, no belly ring, no tattoos, no duck lips, no spider eyelashes, no long fake nails, and definitely no Brazilian booty lift, and if I was gonna wear a shorter dress it would be with flat shoes and not stripper heels. And one drink will do to sip on. If even that. Less is more.
    Like your wife, natural beauty.
I think all of the above is the stuff of one night stands. Not relationships.

I've also advised many of my buddies not to go for the young beauty queen. My friend Rick was in his 50's and in good physical shape from construction work and was successful. He went to the Philippines and found a 19 year old beauty queen and brought her to USA. She was so Maganda that when she was at the American Filipino parties, we all went to all the men could not keep their eyes off her. In about year 3 we found out she was cheating on him with a young man and ended up leaving him. He was so hurt and paranoid he went back to the Philippines and got a very homely woman around his age and has been happily married to her for over 20 years now LOL.

Long story short, she cheated on him. She was a 10 out of 10, amazing body and face, and very natural (no surgeries).
He "forgave" her after founding out. He suggested a get away to the Middle East.
He came back to the US alone. Don't know where she is now.

Just keep in mind that if you meet a girl and "after" she asks you for a little money to help her family that is the same thing. I dont know about Dumaguete but in Olongapo which was my first experience with the Philippines, you can meet a girl for a "date" at Jollibee or Yellow Taxi, you dont even have to go to the gogo bars. Most of these retail shop girls are lucky to make 7000 peso a month and if they can have a date with you and get you to feel sorry for their family and part with a "measely" $40, you can make a pretty big dent in their reality for the month, so sometimes you have these part time freelancers as well.

You hit the nail on the head with the red flags. Here in Thailand I would add an extra red flag to size up up a girl’s background: if she plays pool well she is/was a bargirl.

  • @martypoll
    @martypoll Рік тому +30

I am in Thailand and I am going to assume that the bar girl dynamics are similar. I once listen to a former Pattaya bar manager break down the girls into 3 categories. This was for girls in beer bars which are far more casual than the agogo bars with stages and poles.
There were the younger girls (legal) who were bored in their village and were looking to party and a more exciting life. They generally sought out younger bar customers and were in it for a good time.
There were the “lifers”. The ones that were the professionals that had been in it for a long time, say 10 years.
Then there were the remaining girls, the vast majority of the girls, who had come to the bar because of desperation and because of bad relationships with local men. The first year at the bar is a bit of a struggle and a bit exciting and they make a lot of new friends with the other girls. After a year or two though the job becomes a grind. There is competition with other girls. There are high and low seasons. They have fallen in love many times only to see the customer/boyfriend move on. These girls would leave the bar in a second if they could find the right man.
I’ve known several of these girls in the last category. I met my wife in a bar. I am currently 67. She is 42. We dated for 1 year. We lived together for 2 years. We’ve been married for just over 4 years. I wouldn’t speculate on the success statistics but there are successes. I see them in our village. As you can see, I lived with my current wife for 2 years, away from the bar scene, and took the slow approach. I’m not necessarily recommending this path but it has worked out for me. At this point, if our marriage wasn’t to work out it wouldn’t be because of where we met. It would be due to the normal success/failure of any relationship anywhere. I was married in the US for over 30 years. I know what a relationship looks like.

i have no idea what a good relationship looks like, so I would not be able to pick the good one out 10 bad ones in a bar. For someone like me, looking for love in all the wrong places does not end well.

    • @kenmiller9
      @kenmiller9 2 місяці тому

A good percentage of the bar girls in Angeles City, Bangkok, Pattaya, etc. have local boyfriends or husbands waiting for them at home after the get off work, or waiting to pick them up. I've seen this in Pattaya after the bars close. In Thailand, some Thai men expect their ladies to earn money for them and it's OK to work the bar because that's where the quick and easy money is in the absense of job skills or education. In Angeles City, the bar girls prefer Filipino boys for love, but foreigners for their money.

So the PSA is: If the pretty woman likes to get drunk, seems overly friendly, has the English language down pretty good and has tattoos to boot then she is a big red flag.
Yep or just use common sense . For myself personally I figured this out as a teenager. Women typically avoid men of suspicious character even if they are good looking. Because it’s a “man’s world” women tend to be more cautious. Even if a man knows he still often times just opts to think with his little head rather than his big head.

I'm a shy person as well but I did meet one girl at work that I just had to pursue. So I worked up the courage to start talking with her and then eventually asking her out. We did date for a while but eventually the relationship ended, but I do not ever regret working up the courage to pursue her, wish I had done that when I was younger. Also, about the cards, when I was in my last couple of years at College / University, I was sharing a place with 5 other guys. We got to talking one night and discovered that a few of us had dated the same girls and that we had the same taste in women. After that it became a running joke about not leaving your girlfriend alone with one of the other guys. We decided to make business cards for ourselves and called it the "House of Blades", you never knew when one would stab the other in the back for their girlfriend. It was all in fun, but these cards started to circulate and on a few occasions, I would have a girl come up to me and say, hey you live at the House of Blades. I ended up getting a few different dates and girlfriends from that experience.

Heads up to newbies of your channel: This is the best informative video Paul has made in my opinion, as a seasoned vet of Philippines travel totaling some 25 trips and approx 3 years spent there i have encountered all those " stereotypes" he talks about, one in particular i was getting quite loved up with, totally my type a real cutie..... 1... Spoke great English... 2... Had the tats which i dont like too but was blinded by that WOW body! ... 3 The lies about no kids at home etc. Pretty much the old adage if its too good to be true. Cheers.

Paul, our opinion on tats is the same. When I was a kid the only people who were tatted were convicts and sometimes ex military (usually NAVY} and if they were women, they had history of addiction, loose morals and/or prostitution. We know they have been in vogue the last 20 years and these stereotypes are not todays reality, but they just turn me OFF!! From a mental health perspective, I truly believe people who get tats are desparately wanting to change something about themselves, (personality, weight, emotional pain etc) but have been UNsuccessful, so turn to the tattoo as a surogate change. Emotionally the feeling of "At least they've changed something" about themselves. However there is no resolution to the original problem, so they contiue to get more and more tats. Painting with a broad brush? Yeh maybe...but it is accurate in most scenarios among those with addictions to ink. (One of my adult children has a sleeve)

✅on Tattoos, i personally don't like tattooes. However, my suster and my nurse cousin who have tattooes, i have to defend. They are absolutely a good catch. gorgeous and good characters. sharp brains too. yet they have a bit of tattoo.
✅on English-speaking Filipinas, lots of us can speak good conversational English. we are not dumb. is all. 🤷

I do not like tatoos, but it is something I can overlook for more imortant qualities. Honesty, discipline, perceptiveness to name a few. Same thing with English, I would be wary of good english speakers but I would reject them out of hand for it. Time has a way of revealing the real person underneath the often wrong first impression.

I use to use the business card pickup when I was working contracts overseas. My company gave me a huge box of business cards when I started working there. At first I thought what am I going to do with these. The companies name, my name and position were on the card. I have a high paying job. Hypergamy is a big influence in dating. Women want to move up in dating and marriage. If I saw a beautiful woman a lot of times she would be at work. I would simply complement them on their beauty and tell them I would like to get to know them better. Here is my card and let’s go out sometime. No pick up lines, a little mystery and the card showed I had a high income. Follow up with a coffee date or something short to get to know them better. Very effective dating strategy and took advantage of my limited days off. I remember one time I saw a work friend randomly twice in a day while out. Each time with different women. He was teasing me the next day about seeing me with two different women that day. I told him let’s get the story straight I was with 5 different women that day. Business cards, good scheduling, and short dates was a effective way to screen future girlfriends.

My experience with Filipina bargirls goes back to the late '60's when I was in the US Military. It was a different scene back then. We were young, slim and relatively poor. Many bars had girls to sit with you, dance with you, and drink expensive ladies drinks. Those drinks were how they made their money. Some, but by no means all, would go out with you if you paid the bar fine however it was a point of honor with us not to have to pay for it. A few would go home with you after the bar closed once you got to know them for a while and they generally wouldn't ask for money. A more innocent time back then.

She said she did not want a husban. She asked me if I wanted a wife. I said no. And never a pretty fit women like you. I want an ugly fat pig for Heat in the winter and shade in the Summer. But maybe I cannot afored to feed her? I guess I am stuck with you?. She said but I eat all the time too. I paid her what she asked and left without the 130 pounds of romance around my neck. Love your channel, and what you share mirrors my experiences in PI (ditto on the shyness, here, too), having been stationed there for three years while in the Navy in the early '80s. I married one of Group B, a bartender/manager, who turned out to be a fantastic spouse, until I left her for another--of course--younger woman. We're still great friends and share a tremendous daughter out of the relationship. When I took her to the US, she studied nursing and now makes so much more money than I ever aspired to earn in life and has been able to do great things for her family back home. As there is no divorce in PI, I sometimes joke with her that we're technically still married in PI. I had friends while on various WestPac-bound carriers who fell for the girls who had ongoing relationships and strung my friends along, and yes, the warning signs are there for those who are not head-over-heals in love with the gals. As for the English proficiency, my lady had college and that was one of the things that attracted me to her, she laughed at the punchlines of jokes at the right time (as long as the jokes weren't too involved)...very hard to do in a foreign language. She wasn't/isn't a drinker, fits your profile. Back in the '80s, the only people in PI that had tats were ex-prisoners, but that has changed, as you note. Even though I was a career Navy sailor, I never got a tattoo, but all of my kids have them. Keep it coming, perhaps some day I'll get a chance to meet you in person as I sometimes still visit PI, even with my ex...but as friends. Her family still loves me, for some reason.
Loved the card story, and the fact that you're so non-judgmental/open-minded...all the more impressive for a fellow old-geezer. Now ruin it by saying you vote/support trump.

Dude. The Philippines government past Article 26(b) of the Family Code which is a divorce exceptions for Filipinas married to a foreigner. If he files for divorce in the USA or any country where divorce is legal and obtains a final judgment then she can be officially found to be recognized as single in the Philippines. All she has to do is get a certified copy of the final judgment of dissolution of marriage from the place(county in the USA) and file a petition with the Philippines Regional Court. That court will then recognize the divorce as legal and write a judicial order which recognizes her as a single woman. The court then send this document to the Bureau of Statistics so she can then obtain a Cenomar. Please look up the law and let your ex-wife know that she can be legally considered single in the Philippines and free to marry. You owe her that. Most Filipinas and foreigners do not know this law exists. Just Google Philippines Family Code Article 2 B Divorce Exception

Hey Paul, I like the fact that you tell it like it is, and yes, I personally am not a big fan of tattoos especially on women, but this is delicate subject I have known some women who get tattoos for sentimental reasons, and maybe that means she’s not your typical traditional Filipina who is more reserved, but maybe she has other traditional values that still would make her a good life, partner, and yes the drinking every night and going out all the time, plus having a lot of foreigner ex-boyfriends, plus having money problems every week are just a few red flags, really enjoy the channel 😎

As you found out, the women with children (in your home country and the Philippines) are almost always a bad deal. If you avoid that scenario, you probably won't get scammed. The women standing in front of the bars are not bar girls. Those are greeters.
    It is interesting about the
workers/waitresses/bartenders. Usually these filipinas are forbidden by the bar owner to date the foreigners. There are two reasons for the this. One; if they are attractive, single, no kids, they won't last long before they are snagged by a foreigner and the bar/eatery owner doesn't want the inconvenience of hiring/training a new worker. The other reason is the bar/eatery owner is jealous.
There are rare situations like Ron (RIP). Ron could care less if his waitresses dated foreigners. Some of his waitresses only lasted maybe 2 weeks before they were married to a foreigner and left with the foreigner to his home country. Ron knew the existing waitresses had friends that needed a job so, everything always worked out.
Drinking at the bar. I would say if there are filipinas drinking at the bar with proficient English, my guess is they have kids and are probably separated. If they are single no children, I doubt they would be there.
The business card. I do approach woman. I do strike up a conversations. Some are married/committed or possibly not interested. Yep, this can involve a lot of rejection. However this is the way it is. Well, it is the way it is if you are trying to meet a woman that is single (not separated) , attractive (remember beauty is objective), no kids, and of course born a female.
Tattoos. I can't recall ever dating a woman with tattoos. I don't think I have a problem with it but, the "tattoo women" might not be interested in me.
All of this is my opinion from my experience. Hopefully this post will weather the storm.

Spot on with you evaluation of the bar girls. I have been away from the Philippines for a long time, but nothing changes in the Philippines.
Tattoos, drinking, smoking and drug use are sure signs that a girl is or was a bar girl. There are very, very few exceptions to this. A good Filipina will not be involved with any of that.
For anyone looking to go to the Philippines, make sure to keep the two categories of women separate. There are girls for recreational use, and there are girls with wife potential. Do not mix these two up. They are mutually exclusive. Bar girls are for fun only. Yes, for Western men, it is tempting to want more from a bar girl. They are usually attractive and sexy and they aim to please. You have to set definite boundaries with bar girls.
Wife material girls have to be treated completely different. They will vary in looks and will not dress or act overly sexy. A whole different rule set applies.
When I was stationed in the Philippines, I was 26 and single with a pocket full of US dollars. I was running through bar girls like a lawn mower through grass! But I occasionally had real dates with girls that worked in local restaurants and clothing stores. These dates were very traditional with nothing more that hand holding and maybe a goodnight kiss. I would of never thought of trying to bed one of those girls. They were nice, polite, proper ladies.
Bar girls in the Philippines have the same objective as strippers in the West. They are there to extract as much money from you as possible. Always keep your guard up. I loved the bar girls when I lived there, but I always kept my money hidden.

Agree with you on tattoos. If you have a good artist do it, then it has potential to be something. However, most tattoo artists are not good at drawing something permanent. If a person could do a good Fresco, then I might think about that, but I have not seen anyone who could do a good Fresco in 1700 years. Many tattooed people should re-think their tattoo artist. Because he sucks and if you were sober, you might not have made that choice.
