She showed me around the city one day after just asking a few questions on the boulevard. We went by foot to show me where to get fresh vegetables, clothing and a phone sim.
She never asked or implied anything in return. She is a very funny, kind person regardless of occupation.

Too right. Most GROs are just nice girls like this in a tough spot. Some are not ofc, it attracts bad apples. But I worked in Balibago (they call it "Angeles", an error) for 4yrs. As I went to work at 7pm, the tide of girls comes in. At 5am, the tide goes out & lifts are required. People who look down on these girls are despicable imho. One nasty remark or boasting of some weird crap by any fellow expat was enough for me to offload them asap as 'friends'.

Paul, I don't watch every video, but once again (and this has happened many times in the past), I'm struck by how well you handle conversation with Filipinos from different stations in life who are almost always decades younger than you. Well done. In this video you successfully use your sense of humor (as well as tact and humility) to make your guest more comfortable and willing to address difficult subjects. You're a good ambassador for we Americans.

What a candid, and wonderful interview with a girl in a profession that is typically really difficult to talk about. She is very confident, outgoing, and really funny, and takes her profession with a grain of salt. I wish her luck in the near future to be able to move back home and get a steady job. She truly deserves that. Thank you Paul and Baby Mae for bringing this topic up, and having a great conversation with her.

Great interview Paul. Made me laugh and cry, but lots of respect for her. Lots of info to process. Feel bad for her and all the Filipinas that struggle to make a decent wage, and financially make this choice to sell their bodies. Many are working in the malls/stores for 500P or less a day. Many also have kids, families and even a Filipino husband to support. To hear her story is why I say, “the Philippines is simple, yet oh so complicated”.

I'm part Navajo and some women in other tribes have very prominent & high cheekbones like she does. To most westerners (& even to me since most Navajo women have round faces) it makes them appear older much faster due to the comparison to the women they see daily. By her own admission she doesn't like what she's doing and wants a better life but, she has to get an opportunity. I hear on some vlogs that darker skinned women like her have a much harder time getting a "regular" job over there. If she can stay clean from disease and drugs and get off the street, I think she will eventually be OK.

Also some guys just want some female company especially if they are like her bubbly personality and very honest and straight forward. I like to wish her all the best for the future and I hope she finds a nice guy some day we all deserve to be happy.

She's proud of being skinny because even in the Philippines, more and more women are fat esp after they lose their youth. Maybe not as fat as average Australian or American women because they have smaller frames, but fat nevertheless. A big reason is simply the dietary shift in recent decades.

Wow - Clarice is so full of life, charming and upbeat ... this was a great interview. We can only hope her upbeat (bordering on hyper) nature is due to her naturally lively, friendly personality and not due to the substance abuse (shabu?) that many such girls fall into in order to tune out the unfortunate reality. As she says herself her physical traits are very attractive to foreigners (probably not so much Filipinos) and she has a fun personality so she really needs to get out of this business now and meet a good man and share a real, mutually-satisfying relationship with him. I hope she manages to do this before she becomes one of the older, "haggard" (Filipinas love that word) ladies of whom she spoke on the Boulevard.
I am concerned about her privacy and effect on her future of putting her face on a popular YT channel for everyone to see now and forever ... unless she's knowingly doing it simply to find new clients?
