I was at this concert. I was stationed in Berlin. The highlight of my tour there.
What did you think of Hendrix back then? Are you a guitar player?
@@jackh8561 I'm a bass player. He was awesome. He was stationed in Germany also. I think he met his bass player there. Lucky guy.
@@petercallinicos , Hendrix was stationed with the 101st at Ft.Campbell, KY, before getting kicked out of the Army, (total service time was only 13 months). He did not meet Noel Redding there. He did play in a band at Ft. Campbell, though.
@@captainamerica9353 he’s taking about Billy Cox not Noel Redding
@@malikflores625 , ok, but neither Hendrix nor Cox were ever in Germany. Hendrix and Cox met at Ft. Campbell, KY
The Greatest Guitarist ever!!!!! I saw him in Milano, on May 23, 1968, and I touched Him!!!!!!
2 cool, Far out.. U R so blessed. Caught him in DC with the Soft Machine on March 10,1968 Legend is Jimi caught Wes Montgomery later that night @Bohemian Caverns! !
touched him where ? lol
You touched God? Sweet!

Thanks! Been listening to this video for years, memorizing time stamps cause I was too lazy to comment them 😂
Just when you think you've heard every Hendrix guitar riff possible he pulls out another impossible one. Otherworldly talent. It wasn't about notes and scales with him, it was about conjuring up absolute magic.
Totally agree! His playing was absolute magic. He performed miracles of sound pulled out from the universe somewhere...like he was in touch with the universe. He's been gone so long but yet seemingly no one else can do what he did still.
Patrick Foster a

brilliant magic !!
He was/is plugged in to a magic in between dream of sonic brilliance and beauty.. a place uniquely his but accessible to all open to lovefreedomangstdesiretranscendencepompand dignity
@@mysteryjesus So, you listened to Electric Ladyland on acid as well?
The very same night, Led Zeppelin was playing the show at the LA Forum that, thanks to a recording by an audience member, became known as their “Live on Blueberry Hill” bootleg lp…. it is also very worth hearing! Many thanks to the unknown forgotten person who secretly taped this Hendrix concert on what would today be considered crude and primitive equipment!!
I say it is a recording off the soundboard. Go listen to some other shows here with awful sound and his guitar bouncing off the rafters
@@ronkonkoma7718 nope. The other instruments & Jimi’s vocal would be clearer and dryer sounding if it was a board tape. This was recorded by an audience member sitting close to the stage, hence there is no bouncing sound as would have happened if recorded in the balcony, or further back in the hall. I love the sound of this tape despite its imperfections
@@ronkonkoma7718 because they were sitting up there to avoid getting caught taping. Many older recorders had built-in stereo mics. Jimi’s guitar is loudest in this one because taper must have been closer to his amps… just my theory
From what I read, Jimi was "off" on Sept 1 & Sept 4 this show, but just KILLED on Sept 3 in Copenhagen!! A good long show too.
This one here has Sunshine of Your Love not played for a long while.
@@Zepster77 Soundboard recordings do not always include all the inputs!
But fortunately these 50 year old shows are all detailed, listed, rated online.
I just had to look it up!
HENDRIX DOESNT SOUND BURNT OUT TO ME HE SOUNDS AT THE TOP OF HIS GAME
That WAS the rumor...to me it seems they were down on him because he wasn't doing what he was doing 66-68. Hendrix was evolving and management didn't approve...the reason he's not with us now
this leyend was burning from the day he was born to his death! just listening to him here, is like the last flame of a cigarr.
@@TheTexasgypsy One of the reasons.....
He was on his way to breaking new ground except Mike Jeffrey didn't want that. He wanted Jimi to keep cranking out Hey Joe & Purple Haze ad nauseam
jperryfan Jeffrey was a piece of crap
Jimi’s talent and imagination like a stellar rocket here. For funky guts and uniqueness he is still nearly 50 years later unsurpassed. With all the fancy gadgets amps pickups etc his sound is also still unbeatable in my ever so humble opinion!!
Creative genius - I think only Beck, Clapton, Page & Hazel come close. But the difference is he wasnt trying to fit in😊
@@jimihendrixx11 actually all the guitarists you re talking about werent trying to fit in just here to jeff beck comparing to what was guitar playing at the times and you can hear how innovatif and original he sounded; and its also the case for beck and clapton anyway have a nice day
The later concerts, Jimi sounds very sad. It's heartbreaking to hear. I would not listen to most people with this recording quality, but this is Jimi. He always 💜💙💚💛🧡❤☯shines
Duh , he’s playing the blues...
Jimi was never sad doing what he loved to do and that was play his music, it was all the crap around him when he wasn’t playing that became a bit overwhelming.
@@gavanhillebold3131 As Clapton said..."Riding in my car, the only time I am happy is when I play my guitar.."...this is a common complaint among serious musicians..the conflict between their inner, creative reality, and the outer "real world."
i disagree utterly pure they were relaxed..
of course he was indefinable like you
I love how every live solo he played never sounded the same, especially this machine gun vs the Fillmore version he just kept expanding and exploring everything
True artist ALWAYS DO because lots like swimming motions change with the rythem of life's impulses some high some low moods effect the electric of the body and soul
Jimi was so groovy, what else can you say.
Amazing that this was just 14 days before Jimi passed quietly into the infinity of SoulFull eternity... This is such a beautiful concert... Thank you Jimi... My dad saw him live at the revolving stage in Seattle concert, so lucky... Johnny was Jimi's first name, and he grew up just down the road from me, born just about 40 years before me, and I am in awe of that fact... Say hello to the sunrise you are watching from the bottom of the sea in the land of the New Rising Sun 🌞🎶🌬️🌌 "That which is Below corresponds to that which is Above, and that which is Above corresponds to that which is Below, to accomplish the miracles of the One Thing" 🌌 I think that Jimi understood this simple yet deeply powerful Truth as well as anyone, about the possibilities of unity between spirit and mind. Peace and Love everyone...
Johnny?
@@rogerzwaterzs Yes, look it up. His birth name was Johnny. Then listen to him covering Johnny B Goode! Awesome....
True. He was born Johnny Allen Hendrix but his father changed his name a couple years later for some unknown reason to James Marshall Hendrix. Read that in one of his biographies called Hit and Run.
He is the Rising Sun. He is I my dreams and talks to me. Seems very real.
The reason why he has the birth name Johnny Allen Hendrix is his mother gave him that name, his father returned from the 2nd world war 2 years latter and renamed him James Marshall Hendrix.
MY GOD MACHINE GUN JIMI IS
CRYING THROUGH HIS STRAT!!!! MOST AMAZING GUITAR EVER PERIOD.
Agreed
I give thanks to every single person who keeps the Magic alive by posting his Music here. Thank you, and thanks again, Jimi, for this sonic kind of love.
Better than Isle of Wight for sure. I could listen to Jimi play all day no matter. And I have.
Still collecting / discovering his work after 35 years I'll be damned.
Same here....it seems to be endless.....in 4 years.....and passing at 27.....to accumulate such a staggering body of work is insane.....
Did any one hear the Beatles riffs in Sunshine of Your Love?
How nice of him to perform this on the day I came into this world!
Can you imagine if Jimi just lived 10 more years, when equipment caught up?
I will tell you one thing. He would have still used TAPE.
Idk if the gear would have ever caught Jimi
@@GuiitarBilly But it would have nice if he had made it to era of decent live recording equipment.
We "purists" can use our imagination because we know the material by heart, but how many times have you tried to introduce friends to these concerts and they cover their ears at the raw sound.
14 Days after this Concert Jimi Hendrix left this Third Stone From The Sun!!
Jimi was not only one of the best electric guitarists, more than that, he was an innovator, he created a new distinct style and became the root of other greats to come such as SRV just to name one. It's a shame his contribution to the music world was cut short by an untimely death.
Jimi like other greats had an abundance of soul channeling his unique imagination.
Hendrix is the best and most phenomenal experience listening to the number 1 artist of God's hand and the only master musician who played the first and only Alpha Apex legendary Conqueror Hendrix is outstanding awesome and the only surf music musician to ever walk the face of the earth besides Jesus Christ Hendrix not was but is the only person who plays his own brand of stand alone music he can't and will not ever be surpassed 😤
FREEDOM OF THE SOUL, PASS IT ON TO THE YOUNG AND THE OLD...KING JAMES MARSHALL HENDRIX AND FRIENDS
A M E N 2 that!
Listening to Hendrix, always makes me wish I could 'experience' the players Jimi learned his licks watching. The people who didn't make it to the top. But made the players we have today possible. Jimi is a bridge to all those playing now, and the untold greats who came before.
26 years ago I started playing guitar because of Jimi. I play constantly and I am still not a pimple on his ass. But listening to him has made me find my own relationship to music in the spirit of him. What makes him the greatest and far better IMO than any other guitar player I’ve heard is that he creates a real vibe. His entire vocabulary is his, there is no imitation, only a homage to what he loved and what fills his spirit. He is so good because he is brave, the entire arrangement of what you just heard was created in the moment. It was fresh and never to be heard again. In that, he plays without any script and allows absolute vulnerability. It’s not just that but the level of everything he does, the execution the tone, the dynamics, the variation. I wonder what the hell Beethoven would thing. If he were open minded enough to listen, he might be terrified and probably think a demon was hollering in a musical language no one has ever heard or would ever even imagine.
Jimi sounded like he had a cold by the tone of his voice but he kept on strait ahead Jimi was very spiritual and I believe he saw the end coming did help management pushing him squeezing everything they can get out of him!! Jimis songs turned toward family man and wife tell your children the truth ya know hello my friend if he had anyone who truly cared about him. And looked out for His best interest who knows what would've happened I don't know I just loved Jimi🎶🎶🎵🎶like he said see a ya in the next world don't be late🎶🎶😀
I came from the future 2070 to say: I am listening to hendrix
54:51
The phrasing here is mystical and makes me feel as if I am in space.
Hendrix is my eternal hero.
We smoked some good Hashish with Jimi and the crew before his concert! We were so stoned we enjoyed the entire event ! Afterwards, we went to a pub to drink German beer and relax! Fin !
Michael Edward》That must be a great memory of a perfect evening😉😏🚬🍺🍺🍺🎸🎙🎵☮✌😎✌
the pioneer of true electric guitar. just amazing, I actually believe jimi's sounds attracted and peaked aliens interest, like they noticed earths energy rising...yeah, it was HENDRIX
Why Jimi Hendrix is the best guitarist - It's because every time you listen to him, its an experience beyond human understanding at times, The feeling just can't compare to the likes of Steve Vai, Joe Satriani or any other rock or blues guitarists who have no choice but to use Jimi's licks to finish their songs. With Jimi's music, it can just never be enough for the ears and the mind !!
Absolutly , they must use his licks to finishe them songs , definititly
Jimi when inspired was on a whole different level and it seemed like his musical imagination was simply much bigger than everyone else's and that's why Jimi never sounded repetitive.
And jimi wrote good songs aside from the outer dimensional solos
Jimi was more worried about making “great music” instead of being “ the greatest guitar player “ it just so happened that he did BOTH!!!
Jimi is a legend for many reasons. First and foremost; he changed music. Period! Not just Rock N Roll and the blues but ALL music that had guitars in it. There was music before Jimi Hendrix and AFTER Jimi Hendrix. Never to be the same after. Very few can that be truly said about.... Bill Haley, Elvis, Buddy Holly, The BEATLES, DYLAN, The CREAM, HENDRIX, Zeppelin, Van Halen, The Sex Pistols, Mother Love Bone, Alice In Chains , Nirvana the whole Seattle thing. Before and after. Some to greater and lesser degrees but Hendrix was in it for the music. He could have done Voodoo Chile twenty different ways and still been one of the greats. But He kept learning, kept changing, and kept growing as a musician. In all aspects. Sure he changed guitar playing forever and without him we don’t have Jimmy Page as he is or Jeff Beck as he is or Eddie Van Halen or Randy or Satch or Vai. But not only that he tried to grow as a songwriter and a singer and as previously mentioned a lyricist. He was the total package. And THAT is why he sits at the Big Table.
Saw him in Sacramento 1970. Never been the same.
That version of Spanish Castle Magic is awesome. Dang
This might be my favorite Jimi Hendrix show of all time.
Was thinking the same
I have to agree. But Monterey and Berkeley rank right up there. Unbelievable!
It is generally regarded as that. So fuckin precise.
@@matthewtaylor6405 Listen to Jimi live in Vancouver trust me it's some his best live ever especially being a bootleg :-) Peace
Beautiful gig , serene and lonely guitar playing as if jimi news the end was near ! When he plays like this naked , bearing his soul there no one can match him
Sounds like a lot is going on with him in this performance. Man he was a great musician.
@Darrin Robinson Amen...
@Darrin Robinson Could you please tell us more about that?On what interview did jimi say thay?
Thank you
@Darrin Robinson If you could tell us more about the interview that you mentioned
@Darrin Robinson Thank you very much!!
And 9 days later Jimi went over yonder way across the hill, I cried a lot for such a loss. Thankfully we can listen to his musical achievements, like this great concert, on and on 🙏.
🙏
Just listened to Machine Gun here
on the 50th Anniversary of his sad
passing. Wow. Extraordinary!! Just
to think it was 2nd to the last time
it would flow from his soul. Unreal
the power thru his open channel to
and from the heavens. RIP ~ JIMI!
I love everything Jimi ever did, but Hey Baby (New Rising Sun) strikes a unique "chord " with me. Such a beautiful song. ☮❤☮
God sent Jimi to earth so mankind could hear what gifts of Heaven sound like.
And thank you sweet Jesus that we witnessed this Man play the Universe.

@@curbozerboomer1773 and the website doesn't belong to you so take your crap elsewhere
Excellent remark!
He was ON FIRE that night! One can hear not only the overall change in his songwriting style but also the recent changes in his solos in the form of more "chord soloing" rather than just single-note runs.
Robin Trower witnessed this concert, and briefly talked to Hendrix backstage...He shyly praised Hendrix for his playing, but Jimi just ruefully smiled and said "Great?...no, not really". Hendrix at this point was fighting drugs, and feeling very down about his career. He died a couple weeks later.

@@curbozerboomer1773 Exactly 2 weeks. At just 27, what a loss. Thank goodness for UA-cam
He was killed by his manager. Jimi
Was nowhere near as bad as they led us to believe
Я слышал, что никаких наркотиков не было. Что Джимми был сильно истощён гастролями и принимал снотворное, что бы спать. В тот вечер он смешал снотворное с вином.
I went to this concert in Berlin 🥰when I was 16, it was wonderful
Jimi forever !!
juhuuu - yes ! jimi forever :-D
Jimi knew he was going to be talked about a long time after he is gone. And he played in a way that made sure we did.
He was quoted, "If I die, just keep playing the records."..We do Jimi, we do!
Beautiful playing..He seems really relaxed although poor Jimi had a sore throat. I am really sad he was gone 2 weeks later, he went to early! I hope he's still a stone free voodoo child kissing the sky in heaven.
Yes, his playing is so inventive at this gig. Jimi was on the cusp of something new :)
2 days pre Isle of Fehmarn. Pentultimate 'Spanish Castle Magic' is more than appreciated. Jimi's 'Cry of Love' songs were so spiritual - so emotional is his state and elocution.
Jimi WAS AND STILL IS THE BEST! The King, thank you for giving us your Universe, to Dwell on 50 years later... You will never be forgotten, your name will Rise for 50 more years, God love you, RIP.....

It was a play on words because he was in the 101st Airborne
Well, he had to pay the Ladyland studios off, didn't he.
This concert is LIGHT YEARS ahead of any other 1970's JHE concert! WOW It's so tragic that this is the second to his last concert but THANK THE HEAVENS it was RECORDED! This proves to me that Jimi had so much left in the tank! JIMI HENDRIX WAS and STILL IS THE TRUE ELECTRIC ROCK/BLUES GUITAR GOD!
It took time for some Hendrix fans to accept Jimi's new songs that were intended for his new double album 'First Rays of the New Rising Sun', some of them appearing in the movie 'Rainbow Bridge', and were the first songs Jimi recorded at his new Electric Lady studios.
One of his last concerts, What a shame we lost him. May you R. I. P. JIMI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love the intro to Straight Ahead... just beautiful.
Watched a doco about Jimi a while back & the late, great Lemmy was enthusing about Jimi’s magic boy guitar skills... “I mean, he could control feedback man... no one can do that!” or words to that effect.
Thank You carlygtr!!! What a treasure, never knew this existed!!! I'm a huge Jimi Hendrix fan, I turned 5 yrs. old, on 9-15-70. I was too young to grasp what had happened to this genuine genius!!! Astonishing playing... Goosebumps
Dzięki za publikację. Uwielbiam JIMI HENDRIX. Jego muzyka i twórczość życiowa stały się dla mnie tak ważne.
Jimi's playing on this is especially incredible. I'm thinking this is the best Hendrix performance I've ever heard. I was mesmerized for the first 40 minutes. Or it could be the paint fumes.
ZigzagWanderer it’s mind blowing man! I agree, this playing is so spiritual
Yes Ziggy ...there are so many instances throughout of never equalled perfect tone, timing and phrasing. For me also, this is the best Hendrix I’ve heard aside from his Electric Ladyland psychedelia tracks where he stepped into a future, which since his passing, has never materialised.
It just blew my mind! Brings me to space and cosmic infinity!
No, it makes complete sense because his skills got better every single performance of his life. The freedom enabled by the technique is just awe-inspiring. At times you think maybe he lost the thread, rambling in and out of songs...but listen again in the right frame of mind (paint fumes optional) and you can't hold back the tears of joy.
It does beg the question of whether he might have had a hard time imagining he could develop any further...and might have felt it was time to exit the stage. But I hope that's just melodramatic hindsight...
Jimi war der Grösste ! Er bleibt unvergessen !
KIFFER FÜR IMMER !

Machine Gun is so f-in heavy.

thanks for uplaoding this. I was there in the beautiful Deutschlandhalle, when I heard this audio, the memories came up as if it was yesterday. It was a great concert , way ahead of the times, we loved Jimi and he fit perfectly into the 70's in Berlin. Only 14 days later came the news of his death, that was an absolute shock. I don't know if it was his very last concert, but it was indescribable!
The later song compositions are really interesting to hear live to see where he was going, and his style evolution. The standards are great and what people paid tickets to hear but since he was stopped in his prime this is all we have. Thx for upload of the live gig.
Great concert. Decent recording. Jimi's playing was just spectacular.
He’s my absolute hero. I wish that his vocals were more up in the mix.
yea this, this is the hendrix i know, live...........excellent post...just lok at the numbers chosen to be played and the even the sound of his voice. so special
OMG this concert is amazing
Great!!! Super Legend!!!! LOVE!!!!
Every time you listen to Hendrix you discover a new lick, or a little solo/technique he used which you never acknowledged before but realise has been so over-used by every other guitarist since. There is no modern player he didnt influence.
Marc Fellerman very true. Even when some of these so called guitar heroes downplay his influence. Some of Hendrix s mayfieldesque chording and funk riffing is infinitely more listenable and enjoyable than let's say wylde playing pentatonic licks as fast as he can with no regard to tone, finesse, dynamics. Smdh! Jimi's the man!
rogerolin57@gmail.comoch
He could create on "the fly" which is the real genius of his style. Not to mention knowledge of fretboard
@@deacontheseer4804 Zappa and Rory also played like that never soloing the same an SRV of course:) Peace
whether it's perfect or not, all performers have nights that are great ,near great, and not their best. this has it's moments .'Sunshine of your love' , tho he screws around w/ it a bit, it's not rushed like the other live one we know so well. and he chords it (like CREAM ) ,Instead of just lead lines.
It's striking that in most shows he laughs off half the lyrics- but with a bad sore throat he sings every line as hard as he can, straight.
