New Born Great Pyrenees Puppies Arrive on our Homestead!

- We were gifted with three healthy puppies early in the morning on October 26th. Minnie is a wonderful mother and is taking great care of her puppies. These guys should be ready to go to their forever home on December 21st.

First off, the Great Pyrenees are livestock guardian dogs. They, for the most part, live outdoors in the pastures with their animals. She had her puppies outside and would have moved them too her house before long. These dogs are one of the greatest breeds in the world. I have two of then.

You may want to think of putting an angled door, like add on, so they come in to it from the side then enter in, it breaks the wind. The mother is fine, but babies can’t regulate their temp, nor do they have body fat to keep their sugar up if cold. Or at the very least some flaps for the door, but the angled door would be better. Even add another tub with another door that leads from the side. Just remove it in the summer. She will enter to feed and exit if she is hot. The puppies do need the protection from the wind and cold. Why foxes and wild dogs all dig holes/caves and raise them underground away from the wind. She is a wonderful mother though!

I have a great Pyrenees and he's kept in our house!
Our Pyrenees hated being in the house. He had his nice comfy dog house filled with fresh straw. He would come in to say hello and then go back outside in all weather conditions. He patroled our acreage at night and we always knew he was on the job.
@@cindybryant1584 ours loves being in he's a constant companion. We have wild turkey and deer and he loves watching from the 3 decks. We put our dog in because he's no match for coyote packs. Even at 130 lbs the packs would kill him!
How she is appreciating his touch is very pleasing. She really wants them with her. Even selecting her cushion and everything is heartwarming.

Whoa....I have a place for mommy and the pups.....my bed!!! They are beautiful and too precious. I would let them live in the house with me!!!!! I'd protect them all. I love the talking they do!!!!

Raised, worked and showed Pry’s for more then 20 years and still have one but now we just rescue and love them. We always made a wooden ledge out of 4X6’s in ours birthing boxes (yes, working dogs too) and it help keep babies safe and mama’s happy. And the person who said 2 litters in one year not good is so right. Not only cutting birthing years, quality and number of pups but also shorten your dogs life. We bred ours once a year until about 5 years then every 24 months maybe 18 if vet okayed it then no more breeding by 7 years. Time to just take life easy and let her be a good guard dog for your herd and teach younger Pyr’s some tricks of the trade. We are all different and you do it your way but ask a vet, other people who breed large breed dogs and then do it your way. By the way beautiful dogs, and glad to see you know to never breed white to white, always need that marked one in the mix or a lot of problems. Again beautiful dogs and you enjoy this time as it all passes so fast

Is she still in labor? Did y’all check her to see if she had more puppies in her belly? She sure is behaving like she does
The puppies need to be inside and with a heat lamp or heating pad temp of at least 90 degrees. I raise chihuahua/Yorkie mix and although yur dog is lots bigger the babies need warmth especially till their eyes open at 10 to 14 days.Wishing you all the best. Им холодно, они уснуть не могут из-за этого, скулят.
Читаем в первом же справочнике:
Пиренейские горные собаки обладают густой и тёплой шубой, поэтому не боятся никаких морозов и могут круглый год жить на улице. Для них не обязательно делать вольер, но необходимо построить удобную, тёплую будку. А у вас нет теплой будки! Бутылка не считается

Nope they will breed her until her uterus prolapses. They are “homestead” people. In other words they don’t have jobs. So they make money by selling puppies and. Whatever else they can from their animal. I

🥦my girl is half Great Pyrenees and half black Labrador. She came from our animal shelter 7 years ago. If I'd have known how wonderful she was going to be, I'd have gotten her sister, too. She's absolutely the best. She likes to stay out at night and keep the deer out of the yard. The cold seems nothing her.
We sure do love ours. Yes, they love the cold!

Do you sleep in woodchips they must be comfy and clean. If you say so. Nothing beats damp cold weather like some comfy warm woodchips.

Why would they do that she said it was raining but wasn’t that cold for dogs. Those puppies could have died. You can reason with or suggest information with ignorance. These two are not capable of basic common sense. They are playing homestead for UA-cam for views and money
How beautiful this video! Here we see two signs of ancestral behavior in the domestic dog. Outside, when you approach sweet Minnie she "licks the air": she doesn't want to "kiss" you or be grateful, even if she knows and loves you, on the contrary she wants to show you distrust, warn you, even with a look: "be careful , don't touch my treasure ..." and stays there to defend her puppies. In the little house, before finding her place, Minnie takes a few turns on herself, it is to make her nest. In fact, she doesn't care about the pillow, it doesn't belong to her.
By the way, my dog steals something in the house (apples, socks, gloves ...) and buries it in the garden ...

Wow 7 months ago Minnie had 6 puppies and only 7 months later she has now had 3. I really hope you best practice and only let Millie have 4-6 litters per her lifetime.
Most reputable breeders will cap even their fittest, best mothers at around 4-6 litters so that she can be spayed while she is still young and at her healthiest. It takes allot out of the mother and most let them have a spell to build up again.

Instead of little windows, think dryer vent with louvers. . I’d also set the house on higher pallets. Then you could drill several drain holes and cover them with mosquito netting.

I have been a rescuer of all different types of dogs for a long time and I've always been told that using cedar chips and a dog house really Burns the sensory glands and their nostrils so maybe you should read up on it or check that out if you want to God bless

Very True, I Raised St. Barnards, but I had a shelter for them if they wanted to use it and they did, when it was really bad out, some got Arthritis so we made a home in the basement with a ramp so they could go out and in when they wanted

I agree. We didn't plan on her having another litter so soon. The parents got together before we seen any signs of her being in heat. Thankfully she only had three this time, so it has been easier on her.
Guess spaying her makes them less money. Sad.

The channel owners have already answered you but it was on my mind before reading that is this. You don’t know the circumstances in which this beautiful dog got pregnant. It could have been before they realized she was in heat. Before we judge others maybe we should look at our own selves and the areas where maybe we should have been more attentive. We don’t learn from what we do right-we learn where we screwed up. We all do. As for spaying this dog, it would be a good idea. The owners apparently truly love this dog. It’s in their actions and in their voices. I hear it plainly.

Thats a common Great Pyrenees trait called badger marks.
I know we'll about the breed very well having been on a farm many years. . Farm or no farm a barn would have been better then the plastic shelter she has.
I would put them in the garage at least, until they are a little older, and have more fur! And the wood chips are too much! But, beautiful puppies.
What about the one she buried in the wood chips? Can it breath?
She wasn’t burying a puppy she was burying her bone.
