If you're still reading this, hi 🙃
Just the fact that people your age can appreciate this song gives me hope…
this is very good, because I am 22 years old here in Brazil, I am "out of class" for many!
Amen
Right?!
Me too. Both my boys, 27 and 39, grew up with this music because I played my music alot. We had the very best tunes. This song reminds me of lying out at the beach, wind blowing, waves crashing, surfers out, smell of coppertone tanning oil, and carefree teenage years.
This band, this song defined my heart in the late 70s and 80s. It still tugs at my heart today. 😎 I'm not in love. 😘
They freaking killed that live! Honestly, I was kind of bummed you were doing a live version. And not just a live version, but one that was done 30 something years after they recorded it originally. I expected a version that was a shadow of the original. I was not expecting this. They knocked it way out of the park. They can still sing! What a brilliantly polished live act. That is such a great display of talent with undoubtedly many thousands of hours of polishing their craft and art.
One of my favourite songs done very right in this version. Loved it!
yah, what you just said.
I have been priviledged to see them twice live over the past five years and both times equally mesmorizing. Personal favorite will however always be the less known "I'm Mandy fly me"
Same!
I can not believe how GOOD this version sounds!
Her smile is the most contagious thing I’ve seen in awhile.
yea shes gorgeous ... mixed races are special
I'll say. She's strikingly intelligent, poised, charismatic, and ...alluringly, even alarmingly, beautiful. Who is this Rogue Royce??
And a lovely feminine voice too.
I agree completely. Her smile is a main reason watching her videos
Some people are truly blessed when nature makes them.
The arrangement to this song is nothing short of phenomenal.
When this was a hit, there was nothing else on the radio that sounded anything like it.
I think was one of the first songs to use the vocal-synth style?? :)
I feel like The Cars, Drive was influenced by this.
@@thesunreport After that, there was "Bohemian Rhapsody"(has that in the verses).
@@empyrealone Never thought of that, but I think you're right on.
So true. You're right. I remember hearing it on the radio and feeling the same way.
Soundtrack to my teenage years... 1970's, all raging hormones, and we were all in denial. What a great time!
Same here....
Me too!!
I remember it seriously creeping me out when it first came out. I would have been I guess just entering my teens. A lot of it was the tape loop harmonies, which give it a very strange atmosphere.
Wasn't it!? 😉
Big boys don't cry was recoded during the studio recording. Kathy Redfern was the secretary at the Strawberry Studios. She came out to tell Eric Stewart he had a phone call. They just asked her and she obliged.
And if I remember correctly she also received a Gold Record for her efforts, as did the other band members.
Absolute classic song. All about how no matter how much a boy likes a girl he simply cannot bring himself to open up & admit it. 😄
I didn't see it that way. well, us girls didn't . We saw it as," yeah, we are dateing and eveything, but I'm not in love and will go with another girl in a heartbeat".
@@deborahreynolds9792 Actually you couldn't be more wrong. The writer Eric Stewart wrote it after his wife asked hom why he hardly ever said he loved her. He thought saying it constantly would make it meaningless, so put a twist on it by saying i'm not in love , but really meaning our relationship means everything to me. I think maybe you might try listening to it again with this in mind now & see if your oppinion changes.
@@HammerAl66 Indeed, it's a song full of reverse psychology.
Listen to the full version of the original song. It was a landmark in recording technique, and a hauntingly beautiful song. So full of sound yet so much space. Simply amazing.
These are one of the bands from the 70's that make me love this era! I grew up then but the music....brings back SO many memories! Paul Davis, Player, Dr. Hook..
I'm happy to say the UK has produced some of the greatest bands and music
Too bad we don't any more😞
@@tonyrodd6348 Newsflash -we do.
_I remember when this came out, and I played the crap out of this. The '60s and 70s' was the best time to grow up; life was so different and carefree!_
Carefree if you weren't getting attacked by the KKK or drafted to go to Vietnam 🤣
@William C not everyone was getting attacked or drafted but that did happen
This was dreampop from the late 70's... 40 years ahead of it's time. And I tend to think it still is 🤘🤘
1975 is that late 70's ?
No, it's literally the middle on the decade...LOL@@Aragorn.Strider
@@ViciousAlienKlown Dude, I was ironic
I was dreading hearing the live version - I loved this when I was a little girl - but it's fantastic.
One hot summer’s day in 1974, I was sitting with my back against a tree in the Winter Gardens in Bournemouth. I was 17 years old, and waiting to catch a train to leave home and join The Household Cavalry. Leaning on the same tree next to me was a hippy kind of guy with a guitar, strumming some great chords,,, lots of cool key changes. We got talking, he introduced himself as Graham Gouldman, and I told him that I loved the sound that he was getting out of a simple acoustic guitar. He told me that he was working up a melody for a lyric that his friend had penned. I listened some more, then caught my train. The following year, I heard the finished article, I’m Not in Love storm up the charts. How lucky was I to experience the song in its conception, and what a memory. The name 10cc, by the way, had no sexual connotations... it simply came to Jonathan King in a dream. Boring eh! Loving your reactions,,, and your frequent smiles of wonderment melt my old hippy heart. Love from the UK. X
That's a great story!
Man, what a great story! What a privilege to hear that.
Not convinced about your explanation of the name, though! It's pretty well documented that it was based on the average ejaculate being 9cc in volume, and as Jonathan King thought of them as an average band, 10cc was arrived at. Jonathan King is not exactly a stranger to sexual innuendo!!
The Life Guards I hope :)
This takes me back to being a teenager. Loved this song at the time but because there was so much good music around in the 70's I didnt properly appreciate how good they truly were. Their harmonies and instrumentals are spot on. Thank you for taking me back to some very happy memories x
This wasn't the original singer, although he comes close. Eric Stewart gave a much better performance. This was No:1 in June 1975 and the original is still the best.
True that!
That makes sense. He was younger looking than the rest of the band.
thanks Jamie for setting the record straight...
Yes, he had more emotion.
lol, I was wondering why I couldn't square his appearance with his much younger self! Because this older self was an entirely different person!
You have good musical taste! 10cc was one of the best groups around in the 70's. Everything they did was cutting edge and such a tremendous group. They never seemed to get the recognition they deserved in the States tho. I'm glad you have discovered just how great they are. I share your viewpoints on all your reactions. I'm a subscriber now. Good for you. Keep it up!
Great reaction!!. The most impressive fact, is that they performed this tune almost 99% as it was on the original recording back in 1975. Great song by great artists, no doubt about it. Finest 70's british talent, ever.
Wow I never thought a live version of this song would be so good...I was totally floored by this. Ty so much for this!
HUGE props for the two great live performances!!! The great 10cc about forty-five years after the song first came out, and the awesome reaction from everyone's favorite Rogue!! Phenomenal job, as always!! A few minutes on your channel always puts a smile on my face, no matter how bad the day may be going!! Keep on doing what you are doing, and never stop!! Remember - Big Boys Don't Cry!!
🙏🏽
I love watching her react. So much feeling and emotion. And so adorable
Loved this live performance of an old favorite. Dude is in serious denial, and I always crack up about that picture of her that he won't give back! Great reaction!
Indeed. One of the Best songs ever!. I woke up this morning with this song on my mind. I am 68 and it sounds better that some of the trash out today. I have hears it 5 times. 2 by different reviewers. It Was greatly appreciated by both. Yeah this song still has a place
Sticks in my head for many days,,,, I am 71
What is amazing about this performance is how close it is to the studio recording. Except for a few things here and there you would swear they were lip-syncing to it. His voice still sounds great after all these years.
He's not the original singer. Eric Stewart, the original singer, left the band in the mid 90s.
100% the performance here was fantastic.
YES, Ralph - at first I thought it was just a live performance video keyed to the studio version -- amazing!
your smile sucked me in and your amazing personality is gonna keep me right here
😄
@@RogueRxyce I will happily watch you react to Row Row Row Your Boat...you are spontaneous and a delight!
@@joannevincent2035 Pentatonix really needs to do a new version of that song.
It's amazing what they were able to do with the tracks with the technology in 1975.
10 CC were a GREAT band! This is such a good song! Big hit for them! Love it! ♥️🎼🎶🎵🇨🇦
This song was a hit in the 70's, but they sound just as good in this video years later. On the original song, all the background music was their own voices meshed together. One of my favorite songs of all time!
I was there in Swansea, it was a fantastic night, first part of the show featured Graham's acoustic session. Seen them on numerous occasions, most memorable was Cardiff 1993, where Eric was on fantastic form and very humorous!!!
You really need to hear the original version. There is a live version that was incredible. Eric Stewart was the heart and soul of 10cc. His vocals will make you melt and his subtle gestures show his stage presence. Peace to you lovely lady!
Girl. This was and remains my favorite song. It broke my heart in the 80s and it reminds me of the girl I left behind. Thank you for reacting to it.
It's was just a silly phase I was going through.., 😎
Love your reaction and the pure written on your face and smile to this brilliant live version. I can remember slow dancing at the end of parties to this when I was a teenager. Happy memories.
5:59 though it's obvious she's heard it before she nearly mimed along with it
Of all the songs that have ever moved me, I think this one is the ONE. The writers/composers so perfectly captured a such feeling of bittersweet. This song makes me cry tears of sadness and joy at the same time.
Me too
OMG! My knees just gave out! This song remindsme of my first crush in the 70s. ,😎
Graham Gouldman the guy in the middle on Bass is the original 10cc member in this line up..........Excellent performance! Should check out the original 10cc with Eric Stewart singing
Though Rick Fenn and Paul Burgess have been with the band since the mid-70s.
Stalwart members
Lovely song. This vocals arrangement and the eletric piano/strings are so amazing
Welcome aboard, youngster! One the beautiful songs from my youth.
Heard this many times back in the day. But never heard a live version. They killed it for sure.
Also, you have quickly gone to the top of my favorite reactor list for so many different reasons. Keep doing what your doing.
More Leo please
This song brings out an intense nostalgia in me. I can not explain it.
I appreciate that you're appreciating this clean and pure music❤
this was a red hot summer in London 1976 in my early 20s takes me back to those heady days of the 70s
Ditto
70s great times now these time's thing's are quite depressing.
I remember the heat of ‘76! I was visiting in Manchester!
1975 actually but great times, Number 1 for 2 weeks from 22nd June 1975, spending 11weeks on the Chart.
Transported me back to the 70’s in London. So glad you can appreciate and share what we felt listening in our time.
Over 30 years after, they are still as great in music and harmonies!!! Love your reaction to!!!!
Skid Row "18 to life"
It is so wonderful that a young person today can relate to a great song from the past, and understand it perfectly. Young lady, you are a treasure.
i love this song, since i was a child. in germany it was in a film. i've never forgot this music and since that time, up to now i love it , there is no end 😍🥰
This Classic has dragged me out of many many dark moods! And Thank You for showing this music/song/group respect. Loving your channel and Cheer's Gorgeous 🇬🇧
Rhodes keys is the sound of the 70s. Love it. The most mellow sound Rick bass ever. Usually it's more like the Chris Squire sound.
Damn! I listened to this song about 1,000 times, then actually proposed to my wife. That was in 1986...still there.
he's whistling past the graveyard, he knows he done, lol.
I'm amazed at how you FEEL the music no matter what genre it is. You make me see the songs I thought I knew in a whole new light. Thank you
That's right girl, it's a throw back from the Era when talent WAS
EVERYWHERE!!! I am soooooo
Lucky I grew up in the 70s.really like your Chanel.keep doing what you're doin'
So nice to see yer reactions dear...Ty
I grew up with this song. I call it the song of denial.
I always love song.. I've never seen a performance of this past the 1970s so this was fun!!! These guys aged pretty well.
It still amazes me that young people like you are really starting to appreciate music like this. I don't know if it means you like the sound of it better than what is played today, but I'm glad you enjoyed it.
That song is incredible ! 10cc is a great band !
Oh wow! Haven’t heard this in years. Always loved it. Thank you again Rxyce!!! 😊🌹
They also had a great hit titled "The Things We Do For Love."
This is the sound of flowing red wine being performed by a group of artists who have each achieved Master status.
A dying breed of musicians who create music instead of just sounds.
One has to be used to UK sense of humour to appreciate some of their songs. This one is universal.
Given that he wasn't the original lead singer on this song, he gave an awesome performance.
Beautiful, beautiful song! A real classic 😊 fabulous band!
This incredibly diverse Band split into 2 pairs: 1/ Godley and Creme 2/ Stewart and Gouldman but I think only Graham Gouldman is here in the middle. Stewart spent three weeks recording Gouldman, Godley, and Creme singing "ahhh" 16 times for each note of the chromatic scale, creating a 'choir' of 48 voices for each note.Creme suggested they could keep the voices going for an infinite time by using tape loops. Stewart created 12 ft long loops by feeding them at one end through the tape heads of the stereo recorder, and at the other end through a capstan roller fixed to the top of a microphone stand.. YOU MUST HEAR THE STUDIO VERSION RR :)
10cc had so many great songs that you should explore. For me their biggest strength was their lyrics.
They said so much in this simple song.
I first heard this song on the bus to day camp in the summer of 1976.
You can really appreciate this 👍🏻❤️
This concert was nearly 30 years after the original release!
The boys still have it! 😲
WOW! They freakin crushed that...great reaction!
Live every instrument has a soul
I was eight years old when this came out... my mom was 24 years old it's amazing how music from this genre stays with you throughout your life especially exposed to it at a early age,... growing up in the 70s and 80s where's some of the best times for music
This song takes me back every time I hear it to a time when I was hurting to love and didn’t know really how to react to it,great song!
The singer is Rick Fenn, who has been with the band since 1976. He's a superb singer and guitarist, and does the original full justice here.
This song actually changed the music production world back in 75! Those vocals you hear in the back is a synth trick they developed back there where the lead singer guy (don't know his name) recorded himself doing every note and programming it to the mixing table (it took him two weeks to do that), so this song is whole experimentation and the original version features almost exclusively his voice trick. The lyric is a joke to his wife that used to say he never said he loves her, a "love you" denial haha.
Imagine how'd they do that compared to this time all in digital
@@tootsbasa5874 I think the awesomeness of this song is in part of the non existent tech to do what they wanted. Today we have voice pads on keyboards, and really quality ones, but having to make it analogically adds to the experiment, IMO. Just as when Phil Collins recorded in the air tonight, that drums midsong has a developed effect, a rig the producer had to make.
Eric Stuart was the singer, though that wasn't him in this video, the only original member is the bass player Graham Gouldman
The studio version is so epic that I feared this being a live version, but was pleasantly surprised at this performance. I love how quickly you picked up on the denial of lyrics :). I always interpreted it as not so much breaking up, but him avoiding getting into a serious relationship in the first place by kidding himself that he's 'not in love'.
With my earphones on and my eyes closed it sounded just like the studio version. Class act.
I recall 10cc had to do with a syringe of 10cc of what ever turned you on. But I'm sure it has changed into today's social correctness so it doesn't give bad ideas to youth. My self being a percussionist I would say the musician playing the Rumba Shaker/ Maraca, is a percussionist at this point. But as well he is the drummer.
For some reason this song reminded me of. Give a reaction to, or give it a listen. If you haven't heard it.
"SWEET" BY band " Cigarette After Sex "
Beautiful voice with a transcendent quality, In much of their music.
Great reaction.
That's how it's done. The Guy's voice is INSANE!!!!
I have danced so many times to this song. I love your enthusiasm and love of the music.
From my high school years back in the 70’s! I really enjoy you and other young people listening to these old tunes👍
Memory Lane great song 🎵👌
The joy that's on your face is priceless.
Great reaction 😀👍❤️✌️🌼
Thank You for playing this I have never seen it
What a beautiful, charismatic, intelligent lady, she deserves a TV career.
I love this song!!! So universal, and so much color!
The studio version is a master piece but your reaction pays tribute to the actual song. Thank you!
I have previously put this 10cc on my favorite list, but your comments have made this group 20cc
For a whole different 10cc vibe, check out "Dreadlock Holiday".
I have the album I played it to death in my youth 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
I don’t like cricket … I love it!
@@1Ma9iN8tive I said you've got to be jokin' man.....
It was a present from me mother
And to think this was live over 30 years after the first release in the 70s and they can still hold the long note through the whole song... It's amazing
The singer is Mick Wilson. He is an amazing singer. I loved watching you enjoy it, I love this song, too.
The live performance was closely faithful to the record.
thanks, Girl! This is one of my favorites by 10cc - also, if you haven't heard it yet -- "the Things we do for Love" -- it's almost hard to believe this is live, b/c so perfect harmonies/instrumentals - !
I love your reaction, your energy, your style.
I just subscribed and now I'm on my 3rd reaction video of you lol
"Things we do for love" or "dreadlock holiday" are great too
New to the channel! I have heard this song a million times but watching your reactions and facial expressions is pure joy😎
An outstanding live version....a lot of people don't realize that this song was originally intended to be totally acapella! The band, in the studio, used synths and tape loops to record thousands of samples of their voices in different keys and scale, and then layered them to replace the instruments.
The bass and keyboards were only used to set up the rhythm in the early demos....and they loved they way they sounded, so they left them in...
Listen to the bass closely in this song, the player is doing his own thing, while adding depth, love it!!
