- Slade are an English rock band from Wolverhampton, UK. They rose to fame during the glam rock era in the early 1970s, achieving 17 consecutive top 20 hits and six number ones on the UK Singles Chart.
The British Hit Singles & Albums names them as the most successful British group of the 1970s based on sales of singles. They were the first act to have three singles enter the charts at number one; all six of the band's chart-toppers were penned by Noddy Holder and Jim Lea.
The band members of Slade grew up in the Black Country area of the West Midlands: both the drummer Don Powell, and bass guitarist Jim Lea were born and raised in Wolverhampton, lead vocalist Noddy Holder was born and raised in the nearby town of Walsall, and lead guitarist Dave Hill was born in Devon and moved to Wolverhampton while a child.
Slade performed many times in the TopPop studios. This single was recorded twice: this is the regular version. Check the TopPop channel for the other version in chomo key, recorded the same day, 2 October 1972.
Chart performance of this single: #1 in the U, and Ireland, #3 in Norway, #6 in Germany, #7 in Netherlands, #11 in Finland and Belgium and #14 Australia and #30 in France.
Recorded on 2 October 1972.

Reminds me of when I was happy, and life was fun, unlike now, miss those days, but don't we all, x
But so glad we were there.
Was in a pub a few years ago and a bloke was playing guitar and singing darling be home soon, I sang along, he was amazed.
Noddy - one of the best. When I hear this Song at first time, I was between 13 and 14 Years old. Now I´m 58 Years old and I hear Slade, Sweet, T.Rex, Alice Cooper and more Glam Rock every day. This music is the best of all time and I hope that I can hear it another 45 Years.
moi pareil belle redécouverte
Same age as me then! I was born October 1960 and at this discovering the delights of girls!
One of the greatest rock vocals of all time. Noddy was amazing !!!
For sure Noddy would have been fantastic in ACDC
It is 2020...i still listen to this... love it
Great music. Miss it.
Der Beste Song ever!?
And why not...
2020 , june , i'm 61 , still loving it
One year on and still listening/enjoying it, god bless you tube😂
The simplest drum kit in rock history! I love it - Don Powell rocked every tune!
Proving that you don't need 29 different drums and an entire mine of metal in cymbals to rock!
@@wulf-3596 You don't but the three of the best drummers in rock used large kits like that. Hal Blaine who was on more #1 songs than anyone. Neil Pert. And the greatest ever, Carl Palmer.
I am almost 59 and playing their music on my jukebox all the time when working on my motorcycles. Brings me back to the seventies
I love Slade so much. Probably the most underrated band of all time. Maybe if they were prettier on the eye they'd get their flowers.
The drummer was pretty! But deaf!! Or mute I cant remember
Such an iconic voice! This is the origin of hair metal.
AOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU...............good old stompin' rock!!!! Love it!!!
When I hear Slade my mood jumps so high I feel a kite flying in the skies. Oh happy times

We adored Slade in Finland on seventees. My favourite.
I've been reading the comments and every review raves SLADE 👍 and they're right!
Everything I was going to say has been said! But even so I am obliged by my own conscience to ADD MY VOICE to echo SLADE were absent brilliant. Compulsive listening. They were the themetune to my adolescence. I am so LUCK to have grown up during the BEST MUSIC ERA OF ALL TIME 🎶🥁♻️ Glam rock 70's

Slade 🎸🎻🎸niesamowici luz totalny 🎸oglądanie i słuchanie ich to przyjemność 🎹
i guess QUIET RIOT were slade fans
Who isnt
Kevin didn't want to sing from Slade and look what it did for their career...
Nope
They were forced into it by the record company, because their own songs weren’t any good.
They weren't, but Kevin had a similar voice and it worked, actually great bands the two of them
I am 60 now ,its 2 o clock in the morning and i should be listening to Tinnitus Relief Sounds which started when I exercised shooting the MG42 in the Bundeswehr in 1984.
Noddy's voice was and is the most powerful in Rock ever.
The music of Slade, the Sweet,AC/DC,Suzie Quatro is overdue since the 80ies,I am still waiting for a revival.
Everyone, who's listening to this Song now is a Connoisseur of good Rock Music.
I rewind,turn the volume up - f*** you,Tinnitus!
Love the drummers style he rides the snare drum
what a hot band! I'm so lucky I got to see them in Fairfax Virginia in 1976! Noticed the happy Dave Hill has those scary Johnny Ramone eyes too, btw. But what a great band! They played to a crowd of maybe 50 and brought their A game for sure. Love these guys! And by the way Frank Jensen, I'm 62!
can you hear them speeding up from the start, brilliant song and band
Love slade!
I don't want to drink my whisky but still do
Toujours en admiration après toutes ces années passées ensemble...
2021 and I'm still listening to Slade.
im still crazy now
Best Band in the 70´`
hear your b sides
I’m 63 now :-))) And they - for ALL times in our hearts
c est toute mon enfance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AWESOME SONG...LOOK AT THAT SIMPLE DRUM SET. 1973 FOR SURE. THEN QUITE RIOT TOOK IT TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL.🎸🇺🇲🇬🇧
Seriously? QR just did a mediocre copy.
Amazing how QR’s two most successful songs are covers from the same band.
So…Tell me again. How come Slade didn’t meet with much success in North America???
@@TheGibby3340 They met with huge success everywhere else. Slade were huge in Europe, Australia, NZ. Way bigger in those markets than Quiet Riot.
@@TheGibby3340 Because british music generally got the shaft here during the 70's and 80's. It wasn't until the mid-90's when Britpop came around that it started to come around here.
I love this
Still brilliant
Slade was my father's favorite band know I totally understand 👌🏻💯
I just discovered Slade this year. Imagine a Noddy Holder and Janis Joplin duet. They'd have blown the roof off the place and every wig off every head too. 😂

Not bad for a 3 piece drum set !!!! Righteous &. Simple & Heavy for the era.....
Great song.
I drink my whisky now,! As almost 55, year old, now,,! Born 23rd May 1968, from northern Ireland UK, 🤝🇬🇧🥃

Einfach nur geile mucke!!
My band used to cover this but we had to stop when it broke our singers throat!
Yes very powerful
I remember the first time I heard this song I was 16 and was getting a ride home from highschool ,,he had a 69 Super Bee,,
lucky s*d to have a Superbee.................
here is the voice of rock
When I was a kid, it was a surprise (and easily forgotten) that Quiet Riot's "Cum On, Feel The Noise" was a remake from some "OLD" band. I didn't know it was Slade, and at the time, I didn't realize Slade was so old, because I was so young, and I knew the videos for "Run Run Away" and "My Oh My" on Mtv. Then, the fact that "Mama Weer All Crazee Now," which Riot used to launch their second album, Condition Critical was ALSO by Slade went completely under my radar. These guys have a heck of a presence. Definitely gonna give them more of a listen! 👍
Glam Rock before the `80s

Absolutely fucking brilliant!!
Noddy one of the best Frontman ever!!
2020 were all crazy now, remember dancing round the lounge to this in the 70's good times.
For years, I always thought the lyrics at 2:11 were, 'fill Derek Batey's lab shoe.'
it was "h" the shoe of Dave Hill ! lol!
Mr and Mrs. Be nice to each other. That is whack dude. Love it. Thank you !
Slade is my favorite group with T.REX and Gary Glitter ! Let's go !
miss u bro
The 70 best Time ever. 👍
Love the band love the song Love the video
What lit 🔥 the punk fuse! Thanks glam
I saw 'em live. The lead singer (Noddy Holder) had a voice like a chain saw, the guitar player in skin tight silver spandex (?) and a WEIRD haircut, they rocked the place. Never heard of 'em, but was glad to have seat up front when they Cut Loose. Quiet Riot should be ashamed for the rip off of this classic!
@SabuPtolemy Don't forget, the Runaways covered this too!
I'm noddy holder and Jim Lea said there grateful quite riot covered it ,
Eran muy buenos
Saw slade Earl's Court in June 1973 with sensational Alex Harvey band as support both were brilliant and loud .
Noddy your crazy for ever!!
I love Slade...😎
who knew this guy would reincarnate and sing this same song with the same voice in the 80s in quiet riot
KISS was very influenced by this sound, I can just tell.
One in a million.
super groupe j adore
The fruit stripe gum jacket is awesome!!!
Those plaid high water checkered pants are epic.
great music--smile on!
I heard there concerts were off the charts on the decibel scale. can anyone comment on that.
