I think my biggest concern with anti-nipple laws related to breastfeeding women. Toplessness has been legal in Canada for almost 20 years now, but almost no women go topless (yes, it's too cold 6 months out of the year). Outrage was started when a woman was arrested at a park for nursing her baby while her preschooler played. Her nipple was exposed for a quick second, and she was charged with indecent exposure. After that, there were mass protests, and of course, the religious right were clutching their pearls "Will someone please think about the children!". There were fears of topless women everywhere! But yeah, 20 years later, the only thing that has changed is that women can feed their babies without creepy cops harrassing them.

Frankly, I say who cares if women want to walk around topless all day!? What is the actual problem with that? This taboo about nude human bodies is outdated and silly and needs to be disposed of.

The creepiest thing about the people freaking out over breast-feeding is the fact that they're basically sexualizing it. They associate women's breasts/nipples exclusively with sex, therefore breastfeeding in public is seen as some kind of inappropriate exhibitionism that is damaging to children. It's insane.

Prohibiting liquor on voting days was probably not just to prevent people from making decisions while intoxicated, but most likely a direct response to the practice of using gifts of drinks as a not so subtle bribe to vote for your desired candidate. I live in Switzerland and most shops are required to be closed on sunday (exceptions for those shops near train station and gas stations as they are supposed to be able to provide basic daily necessaties). Although the origine of it is definitelly religious, most people see it as a worker protection nowadays. As it keeps the weekend free, as long as you're not working in an essential job, like transportation or hospital and the like.
Same for the selling of organs. It's illigal here, mostly to protect people from exploitation.
So while I agree that some of those blue laws are stupid and harmful as they restrict your freedom, I also think there are some restriction who are important as they serve as protection.

The name Tuesday derives from the Old English Tiwesdæg and literally means "Tiw's Day".[1] Tiw is the Old English form of the Proto-Germanic god *Tîwaz, or Týr in Old Norse. *Tîwaz derives from the Proto-Indo-European base *dei-, *deyā-, *dīdyā-, meaning 'to shine', whence comes also such words as "deity".[2]
The name Friday comes from the Old English frīġedæġ, meaning the "day of Frig", a result of an old convention associating the Nordic goddess Frigg with the Roman goddess Venus, with whom the day is associated in many cultures. The same holds for Frīatag in Old High German, Freitag in Modern German, and vrijdag in Dutch.

Appreciating the acknowledgement up-front that if Christians actually bothered to look at their own bleepin' texts, Shabbat/the Sabbath is actually on Saturday. I see so many people for whom that seems to fly right over their heads, even though it's pretty glaring. (If I recall - and to be fair, maybe I'm misremembering - I think Christian church became a Sunday affair not because Sunday was actually considered the Sabbath/otherwise holy, but because so many of the earliest Christians were also Jewish. This meant that they would have been in shul on Saturdays, so doing church on Sundays was a scheduling thing.)

Actually, here in Germany last summer some women "faught" for the right to go topless in public baths. And some cities actually gave in, if only some days of the week, and not for the weekend.
Note that seeing topless women and even completely nude people bathing "publicly" in the summertime is not that unusual here. Even half a century ago there were "unofficial" zones, usually at nice little lakes in the forrest but still close to streets at which cars could be parked, where the police didn't step in.
And those were well known to all who loved to jump into the water and come out again WITHOUT any wet fabric on the skin. Which you either had to change or at least were in a slight risk to undercool your the kidneys (not that high a risk but typically painful IF it happens).
While in the 1970s such nude bathing locations were rare, depending on where you lived even in the vicinity of larger cities you had to drive 20...30 km to get to one, they became more usual over the decades.
Sometimes, at a 50...100 meter long stretch of beach on a little lake people simply split into two groups, one wearing the typical bathing cloths, the other wearing ... nothing.
It were at these place that with time, even at the "bathing cloth" area some women went bear breasted. And if they changed cloths they also stripped completely nude for a few moments, instead of doing a fancy dance behind a towel to avoid anybody around could catch a glimpse of their "top secret body regions".
    And why should they?
Given only few meters away dozen of women sat or lay or stood or went in and out of the water presenting exactly the same body regions freely to everybody who cared to look. Even the stupidest (male) first visitor knew after less than five minutes that all women look the same "there". More or less. At the tip of their breasts and in between their legs.
    Coming back to today.
There are a few women now who - in the midst of summer time - take the "let them free" movement very seriously and not only leave away the bra under the t-shirt but go completely topless in the public.
Actually, in my last holiday in Spain, I spotted one in a crowded pedestrian area. One in about two weeks. Showing her breasts completely uncovered. And YES, including her nipples! Both of them. (I counted.)
And guess what happened, considering there were surely some atheists around who think we humans are nothing but bunch of chemicals and there is no objective morality?
I mean what did they do, those people who live to go around all day killing and v.....ting at pleasure? As they don't fear eternal hellfire for misbehavior.
What did they do? Jump up and run to that woman, put her down on the ground and ...
Not quite that, but ... In fact the woman walked by and ... exactly NOTHING else happened.

When it comes to public nudity laws, the problem is that what we find "logical" doesn't change what we find "practical." So sure, in theory there is no "reason" that one gender should be more restricted in public than another, or even that we any of us should wear clothes at all. However, lack of such restrictions seems to flaunt what we expect of human behavior. All of this falls under the category of humans pathologizing their own behavior, specifically sexuality.

So if you forgot to buy your beer on Saturday you were out of luck. There were also laws concerning how close an alcoholic liquid dispensary could be from a church or school. There are still dry towns in new York but not so you would notice. The idea about not working on Sundays is long gone especially with farmers that have to have cows milked. Crops planted and harvested. Majny stores were and are closed on Sunday. The big chain stores were always open seven days a week and so many other stores had to follow along. I still Ike the dea of an easy going Sunday without lawn mowers going and traffic not the bare knuckle operation it has become in most cities.

I can understand the “don’t tease skunks” law. If you see a skunk leave it alone. If you’re in a suburban area and you cause a skunk to spray you’re creating a problem for the whole neighborhood.
I found the whole breast argument to be a little disingenuous. Sure, go ahead and get pedantic, but it seems fairly obvious to me that placing a topless woman in public is bound to generate arousal in ways that are very different from the same woman being fully clothed. It’s something that’s ingrained in the male sexual instinct. If anything, the law protects more women than it harms by curtailing these sexual encounters in public.

Ehh, I'm fine with not seeing nipples in public. Though before anyone reacts, note that this is more a quality and quantity issue than a public decency one. Some people are scary when they're shirtless.
On a slightly more serious note, someone down here in Australia asked that we not see people wearing thongs at the supermarket. The sensationalists and overreactors claimed he wanted swimwear banned at the beach and staged protests. I facepalmed so hard.

    I have a different opinion on the "free the nipple" thing. IMO, I'd prefer not seeing ANYONE's "nipples", whether man or woman. Wear a shirt! If you're at the beach, then okay, for whoever. But not on the street. Let's be honest. Very few people have nipples worth seeing. {shrug}
As for clothing that is "provocative", I don't care.

Female breasts and male chest just are different. The former is a sexual organ. Touch a woman on her breasts and you will be prosecuted for sexual harassment or assault. The same does not apply to men. That is the laws protect women instead of targeting them.
Either female breasts are sexual or not. You cannot pick and choose and they are when if works for women.
Walking bare chested outside a beach is not socially acceptable even for men. Also in the beach women in the US show far more revealing clothes than men who have those ridiculous knee length shorts.
