Is there anything better than a beautiful melody? Written or improvised. Voice or guitar or vibes or bass or drums. The spirit of Wishing Well delights the audience. Sure, we marvel at great musicians like this incredibly talented band playing anything. But the listening experience reaches its fullest when there's a great composition for the virtuoso(s) to play.

Steve Smith is phenomenal in his melding, blending and boosting or retiring of the bottom line. Bill Evans covers so many bases it’s huge, Stern is up there with the great guitarists, composers and arrangers living. Richard Bona brings it all together with beautiful playing and a voice of angels AND a creative spirit w/playfulness unparalleled in one package. Eee Gods. Thanks for the performance and the Upload shared.

The way Bill Evans just comes to the fore, wanting to solo, and then at 9:36 drummer Steve Smith looks at Stern and nods "why not",...that shit is beautiful.
The whole band just holds it down when Evans is playing , and the song grows into a big finish. Beautiful, i feel this live version every single time!!
THIS is why im into music! Music flies above all our bullshit in this world, all of it.

There is very little I can listen to over and over again. Too many notes, or just not my piece of the pie, but this is it. My heart on a platter, no walls, all is good.
    Because I said so.

15:55. On NPR I heard that when Richard Bona was a little kid he climbed through the window of a bikeshop in his homeland of Cameroon to get bicycle cables to make his own bass....out of bike cables!......this is what that determination sounds like decades later. Commitment level 9000.

    Bona sounds like an angel

When the vibes come in on the melody-OMG.... Such a deeply beautiful thing. And then the song blooms and grows and expands.

I've only discovered this version recently. It's beautiful, amazing musicianship. The vibes solo makes the song whole, brilliant.

World class virtuoso's who listen to each-other. I have had the pleasure to listen to Mike and Richard play together about 6 feet away. My only criticism is that I wish Mike would sing more because he has a great voice and could hold his own vocally with Richard who is a great.

Wonderful to have so different charakters unique in one band. Wish, Trumps, Putins, Orbans and Kims could find any harmony... even 0.1% would be great for the world. what we can see and hear here, is 110%, timing, intonation, lines, construction, I can learn so much from this! Personal thanks to my favourite Bill Evans. Must be like in heaven to listen live to that concert!!
