This band come at you from the inside of your very bones; they resonate with the very essence of what it means to exist, to fail, to love, to hurt, to heal, to dance and sit amongst the beauty of a screaming moon.
I was a worm, I was a creature I get on the ground the second I'd see you You cannot come buy your love I wasn't a catch, I wasn't a keeper I was walking around like I was the one who found dead John Cheever Hand in glove [Chorus] So blame it on me I really don't care It's a foregone conclusion [Verse 2] I see you in stations and on invitations You'd fall into rivers with friends on the weekends Innocent skies above Carin at the liquor store, I can't wait to see you I'm walking around like I was the one who found dead John Cheever In the house of love [Chorus] So blame it on me I really don't care It's a foregone conclusion It wasn't so bad, I wasn't that sick Got taken by love, I wasn't that quick Foregone conclusion It's gonna be different after tonight You're gonna see me in a different light It's a foregone conclusion
it wasn't so bad, I wasn't so sick damn damn damn this is my new crusher line by The National (I wasn't a catch, I wasn't a keeper would be another, but the delivery on the first one is extremely atmospheric)
i am now sitting on a balcony of my building located in a small town by the sea, listening to this song while a tender breeze is cooling the heat so yeah, it is definetely
Whenever I am listening "the National", I wanna drink all the wine and walk around the empty city. On a hot August night. Until everything will be less insane.
For the first time ever, thanks to the notification system, I get to be one of the first people to witness this magnificent piece of music during the first seconds of its release.
Beautiful! Maybe it's my mental illness speaking, but the lyrics mirror a lot of what's going on in my life, so much so that it's almost scary. I haven't been much of a fan of 'The National' until a friend recommended this song to me a couple of days ago. Now I can't stop listening to them, and I understand why so many people love them.
Listening to a National song almost makes me wish I was like bummed out about something. Seriously though, this is really good. Love his songwriting. Doesn't hurt that everyone in the band is a serious quality musician as well.
My favorite band together with Sigur Ros. Have seen them live 3 times now and listening to The National since 2008. Have listened to Squalor Victoria over 2000 times. The more you listen to there songs, the more you feel and get to know it. I usted to hate Mistaken for Strangers and Bloodbuzz Ohio but I love both now. This song and Guilty Party made me cry real good. Which I havent had with them before. Matt told during a concert from them last year at Down the Rabbit Hole that this new album is going to blow all there previous work away. After listening to Guilty Party and now this I can Really see why. TBWFM had Some excellent songs like Slipped and High Violet Terrible Love but none so emotional as these 2/3 new singles. Every album and song they make you can love eventually or even more. There work is trully magnificent and from the heart. No matter what kind of mood you are in or what the weather you in, listening to The National wil Only make things better, never worse.
I saw The National play in Copenhagen, back in 2013. It was one of the greatest experiences. He threw a wine bottle into the crowd...so that was fun too. :D
I imagine myself with someone in almost every national song. Sitting at a restaurant beneath the lightbulbs hanging overhead in a city so alive with headlights from cars...skyscrapers lit up...people around us but everything in slow motion...except me and her...idk I have a strange mind. I put scenes in my head with the national's music.
Is there anything better than The National when u really didn’t realize how much you need them in your life right this very second. No. That’s how it feels every time I play them.
What is a foregone conclusion. This is by far my all-time favorite band they could sing the phone book and I'd listen to him totally bummed Mister concert in LA but I had a great time anyways with my company couldn't have been better so I have to continue to listen in my car !
Open the two songs and play them. Maybe one for ten seconds, then the other, then the first one again. The piano playing against the drums, drum beat is even pretty similar to me, if a bit slower on this song. The vocals are pretty different, but you can easily hear similarities.
Not better. Hard to beat "I was a white girl in a crowd of white girls in the park, I was a television version of a person with a broken heart." Genius.
My favourite band at the moment and for quite some time now. This album is going to be great, can't wait to hear it all. I really must thank my sister for showing me this. Can't wait to see them in PT.
I was a worm, I was a creature I get on the ground the second I'd see you You cannot command your love I wasn't a catch, I wasn't a keeper I was walking around like I was the one who found dead John Cheever * Carin, love/hand in glove * So blame it on me I really don't care It's a foregone conclusion I see you in stations and on invitations It fall in the rivers with friends on the weekends Innocent * skies * above Carin at the liquor store, I can't wait to see you I'm walking around like I was the one who found dead John Cheever In the house of love So blame it on me I really don't care It's a foregone conclusion It wasn't so bad, I wasn't that sick Got taken by love, I wasn't that quick A foregone conclusion It's gonna be different after tonight You're gonna see me in a different light It's a foregone conclusion So blame it on me I really don't care It's a foregone conclusion I'm already seeing stars in the air It's a foregone conclusion *I'm not sure what he says
I've been listening to them for a while but I was late enough to the party to think they stopped making music and then when I heard about the Sleep Well Beast album they were making I just overloaded with joy like fuck me I've been excited for many things but this, this is reaching new heights
I had just started to listen to them, followed them on Spotify and the following month it notified me that there was a new album... It was the best feeling
David Kriz the first Ticketmaster presale was a complete joke. I didnt get a ticket and I was on at 10 am. I got lucky not realizing I followed them on Spotify which gave me a presale password the following day.
Beautiful. They are one of the most consistent bands out there and it makes me glad that they continue being so. The most important thing in music is emotion rather than money (something certain bands fall into and never go out like certain Canadian band inffected with disco fever).
The Letter Bleeds arcade fire is every bit as artistic as the national, the difference is purely how they go about songwriting. That's pretty unfair to send that kinda message about them.
myst1cr3feree I really don't think the national repeat the same album over and over. They don't change their sound, but subtly change the atmosphere or other aspects within that sound. But I agree that arcade fires change of direction definitely wasn't because of money or anything like that
I agreed with everything you wrote, then I read that part into brackets and now I'm just wondering how could someone love good music like you do and say such a stupid thing like you did, at the same time.
The Letter Bleeds Man, leave it. Some bands are good at staying consistent, others good at continually changing it up. Both can be good. No need to cast shade for no reason. If you knew anything about anything, you'd know money is literally the last thing motivating AF.
I'm not attacking the band or anything. But when you see how they promote their music it doesn't really feel they are doing it in an artistic way like they used to do. Come on, you can see the difference between an album like Funeral and one like Everything Now. Some artists change once many eyes set on them, that's not a bad thing, but sometimes they forsake their true essence. The essence that made them how they were when they started. Bands and artists evolve, and they have to if not they would remain an stagnated expression of art. Changes are needed for artists to trascend but there is a thread of difference between changing to consummate your position as a band that wants to deliver a message or changing to corrupt what you once started with unecessary flamboyant elements. You can observe this in many artists and not only in music. I don't disregard the work they do and how much they strive to accomplish it but songs like Chemistry and Wake Up are very different worlds.
I'm a new fan of The National (well not exactly new just not listening to them much before) and these new singles are so, so good. that's basically a signal for a great album. can't wait.

The National are masters of growing old gracefully, getting better with age
10 years later they're still my comfort band
I love this song, i can't stop clicking watch again button, i think the song talks about when Matt realizes he is in love with Carin. Beautiful Song.
I was a worm, I was a creature
I get on the ground the second I'd see you
You cannot come buy your love
I wasn't a catch, I wasn't a keeper
I was walking around like I was the one who found dead John Cheever
Hand in glove
[Chorus]
So blame it on me
I really don't care
It's a foregone conclusion
[Verse 2]
I see you in stations and on invitations
You'd fall into rivers with friends on the weekends
Innocent skies above
Carin at the liquor store, I can't wait to see you
I'm walking around like I was the one who found dead John Cheever
In the house of love
[Chorus]
So blame it on me
I really don't care
It's a foregone conclusion
It wasn't so bad, I wasn't that sick
Got taken by love, I wasn't that quick
Foregone conclusion
It's gonna be different after tonight
You're gonna see me in a different light
It's a foregone conclusion
Cool profile picture, fits the song.
it wasn't so bad, I wasn't so sick
damn damn damn
this is my new crusher line by The National (I wasn't a catch, I wasn't a keeper would be another, but the delivery on the first one is extremely atmospheric)
i love you
thank you
+Six : true !
MASTERPIECE ! Another awesome composition by The National - wonderful and deep : a foregone love conclusion....
I was alive once not too long ago and we listened to The National and we'd probably say that this is one of their best works.
These dudes been making some of my favorite songs the past 15 years of my life..this just joined the list. Wow.
You gentlemen never disappoint.. thank you.
This song is a cool breeze on a sad, hot August night. Thank you.
i am now sitting on a balcony of my building located in a small town by the sea, listening to this song while a tender breeze is cooling the heat
so yeah, it is definetely
Dariya .K. damn that is deep... I can imagine!
Whenever I am listening "the National", I wanna drink all the wine and walk around the empty city. On a hot August night. Until everything will be less insane.
I live in the far south of the south hemisphere, so it's cold as fuck and the music bring me warmth.
lol
I've done the same description of this feeling, in my case the "Song" is England
this is my favorite song from now on, conversation 16 will forgive me i hope
The National been making the soundtrack to my life for years now.....every step of the way and move I make, a song is there to represent it.
Thank you again The National for giving us music that can manage to speak what's in our hearts.
Favourite line: "It's a foregone conclusion." Pretty sums my entire life.
Sums up everybody's life, I'm afraid.
@@ktom1581 Ditto.
Be hopeful! With Jesus your life has eternal meaning as our real lives begin in heaven.
been a fan for over 8 years now and only fall more and more in love. thank you for all of this ✨
I love this band so much.
For the first time ever, thanks to the notification system, I get to be one of the first people to witness this magnificent piece of music during the first seconds of its release.
Mostafa K and you want a blue peter badge because?
It's amazing how they do such beautiful songs.
This is so beautiful. Piano ballad reminds me of 'Pink Rabbits'. The National has been my best band for years now....Sigh, it's so beautiful.
Agreed Bill
It's so moving
And brings a sense of saudate
I just continue to press that repeat button and shed a tear every time.
So beautiful!!!
This song just took me on a gentle cruise-- setting sail straight into deep thought & wonder- thank you, The National!
every single new song is a new masterpiece of music thank you so much
Esse solo as 2:35 é mágico. Espetacular. Magnífico 👏👏👏👏👏
Has Matt's voice ever sounded as silky, than in this (yet another) masterpiece?
Listening to a National song almost makes me wish I was like bummed out about something. Seriously though, this is really good. Love his songwriting. Doesn't hurt that everyone in the band is a serious quality musician as well.

They have quite a cinematic feeling. For me, this is specially true for Pink Rabbits

Love this imagery Nate
Poetic
Do you write ?
I hope you do
Just got out of a 4 year relationship. That led me here with much more meaning to this song from when I first heard it 4-5 years ago. Oh man…
Is there anything better than The National when u really didn’t realize how much you need them in your life right this very second. No. That’s how it feels every time I play them.
Nothing better than the national. I know this is a year old but I'm 20 and not a lot of people my age listen to them. I feel like one in a million
I really needed something uplifting today, and this was already my favorite song from the upcoming album!
haven't even clicked play yet
already in love with it 💜
What is a foregone conclusion. This is by far my all-time favorite band they could sing the phone book and I'd listen to him totally bummed Mister concert in LA but I had a great time anyways with my company couldn't have been better so I have to continue to listen in my car !

The consistency of this band is hands down impeccable!
Was waiting for this one to come out! Loved it so much since the Pitchfork Livestream ❤
Love it. Reminds me of Pink Rabbits.
Open the two songs and play them. Maybe one for ten seconds, then the other, then the first one again. The piano playing against the drums, drum beat is even pretty similar to me, if a bit slower on this song. The vocals are pretty different, but you can easily hear similarities.
But it's still great song, maybe better than Pink Rabbits
Yes you're right, very similar to Pink Rabbits!
Not better. Hard to beat "I was a white girl in a crowd of white girls in the park, I was a television version of a person with a broken heart." Genius.
Well, the lyrics of Pink Rabbits are my favourite, but I really love this guitar at the end of this song!

To say I'm excited to see the national in Philly doesn't even touch the surface.

Sounds really good! The piano is awesome!
Really looking forward to the gig in October, I'll know the words by heart!
I love the way the chorus seems to end a line earlier than it should. Almost like a foregone conclusion.
God I love this song! so haunting.Just close your eyes, be still and listen.
You guys are unbelievable.I wish to go on tour with you someday!
Thanks for the great NEW music!
I'm a new fan of The National (well not exactly new just not listening to them much before) and these new singles are so, so good. that's basically a signal for a great album. can't wait.

I need this album, damn it. September can't come quick enough!
100% my favorite song. And I love so many National songs. Love so many, yet this is an amazing song.
about blood time! love these boys.
This reminds me of a relationship I had a long time ago. He was one of the best people I ever knew but our backgrounds were very different, and "everybody" knew our parting was a "foregone conclusion." It totally was my fault, and I own that. If I could see him, I'd play him this song by way of apology. A at the festival, I can't wait to see you...
Beautiful as always!
This is officially my divorce soundtrack.
Me too bud
Me too... and @ 53, I've never even been married yet... 😕
