    The remark about Henry VIII was made fairly lightly, and Duck says he heard the story from John Renbourn. Too late to ask John where he heard it, unfortunately. But the claim made here is simply that some people believe the story about him having composed it, and is mentioned for humorous effect more than anything else.

      I am making this reply eight years later...When you start researching renaissance era music you find yourself on websites that do some interesting research. I do indeed remember reading somewhere that the songs attributed to Henry VIII did exist before him. Some were from France and he put new words to them.

    Reminds me of the Mason WIlliams version, but Duck's arrangement is more creative. Id like to hear this with bass and flute.
