Always listen to your wife, she was right that Avi Kaplan featured on home free ring of fire. Spot on that’s Mitch. This won them their first Grammy. Loved watching you both enjoy this. You made me so happy listening and watching your reaction. I’m so pleased I subscribed as soon as you reacted to hallelujah. Brilliant 🤩 try Bohemian Rhapsody. Thank you 😊
I agree with everything you said, especially the part about Bohemian Rhapsody. I expect more stunned “no”s when they get to that part. You know what part I’m talking about ;)
Mitch is a fabulous chameleon of a human. He changes his look all the time. The voice, though? There is only one Mitch on Earth. Heaven may be another matter.
Mitch is supreme in his job, other groups do amazing jobs, Homefree, Voiceplay, and others i think do great in their fields, but in Mitches area? he is tops, no contest.
If you have to ask "Is that Mitch?" or "Is that Kirsten?", the answer is always yes! Loved your reaction. I get a kick seeing the same stunned faces when newcomers experience Pentatonix for the first time (or 2nd or 3rd etc.) 😄
Yea they were two of the founders of group, along with Scott. The taller one. To be considered an ocopella group they needed 5 members. I think it was like almost tell the day of there audition they found everyone and the rest is history. Kevin also went to Yale’s school of medicine before all this
That is Mitch. He, Kirstin and Scott, the 3 main vocalists met before high school. When they formed PTX they were 19 and still maturing. The group has now been together just over 10 years, have won 3 Grammy awards, have over 250 covers and original songs, multiple world tours and millions of fans worldwide. Their Christmas albums are awesome. Every song they cover seems new and upgraded without losing its connection to our past fondness for the songs. Some variety of styles to react to… Amazing Grace Shallow New Rules x Are You That Somebody Can You Feel the Love Tonight Run to You - an original The Prayer Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy - 2nd Grammy My Favorite Things Happy Now - an original Water - an original Attention You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch You really can’t go wrong listening to anything they do. Love your reactions.
For intense feeling from 4 uniquely different songs and different time periods, check out their upgrades of "Say Something", "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?", "Shallow", and "The Prayer". These are all outstanding.
This is one of their staples that they have perfected performing live. And yes, that is Mitch. There has only been one member change in 10+ years. Avi Kaplan (bass) left in 2017 and was replaced with Matt Sallee.
As mentioned, this won Pentatonix (PTX) their first Grammy. Check out Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy which won them their second & Jolene their collab with Dolly Parton that won them their third. Along the way their covers of The Sound of Silence, Amazing Grace, Can You Feel Love Tonight, and more recently 90's Dance Medley and their cover of The Prayer are also at the top of my must see/hear list. Enjoy!
Thank you for reacting to this Pentatonix medley of 7 songs by the band named Daft Punk. Glad that you liked it. I look forward to more of your Pentatonix reactions.
Mitch and Kirstie are best identified by their voices. They change a lot. Their hair color changes and Mitch has gone through a lot of physical changes over the past 11 years. The only change was in 2017 when Avi, the bass, left to go his own way. Matt took his place as the band's new bass. I just subbed. I look forward to more of your Pentatonix (aka PTX) reactions. Try out "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" for which they won another Grammy. It's from Tchaikovsky's ballet "The Nutcracker". Also, a very different vibe. Thank you!
Yes, that’s definitely Mitch, he constantly is changing how he looks. Loved your reaction ❤️, I had already subscribed and I am so glad that I did, Pentatonix sings so many different genres.
YOUR amazed face at the beginning was simply PRICELESS!!!! I have to admit, I could not stop laughing. Reminds me of my reactions to this group. And that beat gets me every time. Always have to stop and remember they don't use instruments! So glad I found you both. Refreshing to hear from other people. And I also say you did a review on "Mary did you know". Guess I should have looked harder for it. So glad I found others that are just as excited as I am when it comes to Pentatonix. Keep up the GREAT reviews. I will be watching.😉. Again, much love from Great Grandma from WA. State.
The biggest trick to how they sound so good on this song is that Kevin Olusola (beatboxer) and Avi Kaplan (bass) became one very solid rhythm section. Avi worked very fast bass, which is hard. Kevin would start a bass drum kick and Avi would push the rest of the bass kick, sounding like a synth enhanced bass drum - and you can't hear a gap between them. A lot of Avi's notes were some kind of electronic drum sound rather than usual bass guitar sound or vocals, so he was basically beatboxing along with Kevin. Then to follow on, the trio (Scott Hoying, Kirsty Maldonado and Mitch Grassi) were doing very fast, tight vocals with an absolute match in texture. Did you notice that on the phrase ends they were all doing a very fast vibrato all together with no clash? That is so hard.
When they accepted the Grammy Scott explained that they recorded it in a closet and did the video at the kitchen table. Budget $400. Avi and Kevin were both big Daft Punk fans and I'm sure they had a lot of input into the arrangement and they are both gonzo musicians. Mitch and Kristie met when they were around 8, took every opportunity to sing, met Scott in high school, again took every opportunity to sing. Formed The Trio and put out UA-cam videos. Someone pushed Scott into competing in The Singoff but they needed 5 members, Avi was recommended by a friend, Kevin was found on UA-cam (Cello boxing), they had ONE DAY to rehearse and won anyway. The win came with money and a record contract but the label pulled out, which was good because they built their success on UA-cam without record label interference.
❣ ***THERE ARE LITERALLY NO WORDS IN MY ENGLISH VOCABULARY, THAT CAN DESCRIBE THIS GROUP!!!*** ❣ I have also come to the conclusion, that Mitch is an Alien, from the planet of WTF 🙃 😊🙃 Luv you guys!!!
You want to hear more amazing high notes from Mitch? Definitely watch their LOVE AGAIN original song. It was released after this Daft Punk song medley, because this inspired their LOVE AGAIN song and video concept. In that video they were going for a futuristic Steampunk Aliens theme with the EDM ( Electronic Dance Music) sound. Kevin does a mind blowing bass drop that will make you look around the room for extra speakers, because his 808 beat is that impressive.
SO !! Loved the visuals !!! Very interesting rendition of this song which I know very well, GREAT GREAT PERFORMANCE !!! Thanks you for playing this. 💞💕💟😍😍🇦🇺🇦🇺
Try The Prayer, Bohemian Rapsody, Havana, Imagine, Evolution of Michael Jackson, many more. Anyone you pick will be great--originals or covers. Their covers are always upgrades.
You guys are so fun to watch. Loved your reactions to this one. If you want another Pentatonix recommendation I would suggest Bohemian Rhapsody. Their take on Queen's song is amazing. I am a big Queen fan for many years but they more than did it justice. Keep the reactions coming.
You two may be my new favorite reactors. You are so very real and honest in your reactions and I love the way you relate to each other! A couple more suggestions for you: For the Mitch loving gentleman, "Aha!" And for the lovely lady, "Run to You".
This is one of my favorite reactions ever! The look on your faces was epic. Thank you! Also, I found your channel because of Guy Sebastian. But being an original Pentaholic, which means I’ve been with them from the very beginning. Anyway, I see you are coming into our rabbit hole. We welcome you. More Guy please. He doesn’t have the fan support to get many out there.
When do listen to the song again, try to notice that at many places some are singing one song while the others are singing a different one. This a medley/mashup of a number of Daft Punk songs. Their first of 3 Grammies They won this along with their arranger Ben Bram for Best Arrangement of Instrumental or A Cappella music. That category had previously been for Instumental Arrangement only.
Oh, that is indeed Mitch! He was quite young when the group started, and he had some weight issues when he was first out on his own, away from mother's healthy cooking. Later he got very thin, and now he has settled to a reasonable weight - see, for example, Amazing Grace or the 90s Dance Medley. Those videos will also introduce you to Matt Sallee, the bass who replaced Avi Kaplan when Avi left in 2017. That was their only personnel change since they came together for the television competition The Sing-Off in 2011. They are very versatile. Try Say Something or Shallow for a serious mood, or Rather Be or Come Along, for fun and upbeat.
Subscribed and liked. Welcome to the 'rabbit hole' of Pentatonix. There are millions of 'Pentaholics' (Pentatonix fans) worldwide and being a member of that group will be a wonderful experience for the both of you. Please enjoy. And keep reacting - your enthusiasm is great! Also, your wife knows what she's talking about. :) Where's the camera?
The first time I watched this, it was major sensory overload! I had to watch it several times and concentrate on each particular member and then watch it again as a total performance. Great video and go with your instincts as to the members.
I absolutely love the look of shock on both your faces throughout this! Pentatonix are spectacular. You’ll have already been told by now that this won them by their first Grammy. That’s definitely Mitch. His look changes a lot, but there’s also a lot of time passing between the various videos. The only member who has changed is Avi (bearded bass singer), and was replaced by Matt. Avi is now a soloist. Great reaction, really made me smile 😊
Your wife won this bet, that is Mitch, he looks different here because he was younger at this time, when you saw them in Hallelujah they were a bit older than they were here.
Yeah that was Mitch! Also really enjoyed both of your reactions! Pentatonix have so many great covers and original songs as well! A few more that I would recommend are “La La Latch”, “The Sound Of Silence”, “Bohemian Rhapsody”, and “90s medley”, I think you’d both really enjoy them!
Same guy.. but you are not the first to think the same! Both Mitch (counter tenor.. high range) and Kirstie change their looks often and this video was when Mitch was a little heavier too. There has only been one change in the 10 plus years they have been pentatonic There has only been one change in the 10 plus years they have been Pentatonix and that was Avi, the bass. Now their bass is Matt.
Loving your honest reactions to Pentatonix and Home free! Both groups are so accomplished that you have literally hundreds of songs to pick from. At the risk of overwhelming your brain circuits, I now suggest you sample Voice Play's songs: If I Were a Rich Man /Girl, and Bang. Then you will have sampled what many consider the Acapella trifecta...
Yep, that is Mitch Grassi. The ONLY change in the group is that Avi Kaplan (bass) left in mid 2017 and Matt Sallee started in late 2017 or early 2018..
Matt came in as a "featured artist" in September 2017. Basically a trial run for him. He became a full member in February 2018 when the group renewed their contract with RCA.
Your reactions are SO much fun to watch!! You may not know it yet, but you are on your way to being Pentaholics!! After your reaction to "Hallelujah", he made the comment of listening to another and she said "we said we were only going to do one"...I KNEW right then if you listened to a second one you would be entering the rabbit hole! "The Prayer", "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Amazing Grace", "Say Something", "Imagine", and one of their originals "Run To You" are a must!!! Honestly, you cannot go wrong with anything they have done!
Great reaction! Yes that is Mitch! Both Mitch and Kirstin change their looks a lot. There has been only one band member change. Avi left in 2017 and Matt replace him.
Their financing fell though and they made this themselves for $400.00 and won a Grammy! They also won a Grammy for singing The Sugarplum Fairy. A ballet dance without words. It's wonderful.
Yes that’s Mitch...he’s so amazing, they all are amazing. I loved your reaction. I just wanna tell you that Mitch and Kristen change their looks all the time. The only change in the group was when Avi left (the bass) and he was replaced by Mat in 2019 I think it was.
This is Mitch, he is a chameleon, but he is always with the group. The woman, Kirstin, also changes her looks a lot, but it's always her. They are together for over 10 years, they look a lot different. The only member change is the bass, Avi Kaplan, he left in 2017 and his solo career is very interesting. His original Change on the Rise is a masterpiece (it's worth a reaction). It's all his voice in the background, only percussion instruments. He has huge range and creativity, they all have. Hope you guys react to more. Bohemian Rhapsody is mind-blowing, Sound of silence no longer has Avi, features his substitute Matt Sallee, who is doing a great job.
It’s Mitch. He and Kirstie change their looks all the time. The only member change in their eleven years is at bass. Avi left in2017. You will is Matt in their newer videos. Recommend their Bohemian Rhapsody.
There's also a live version of daft punk you should look up which proves their capable of sounding nearly the same without production or video magic. Also if you like different I'd suggest another award winning song of theirs, dance of the sugar plum fairy. Also a more recent video with heavy mitch influence would be the prayer.
This video was created on a shoestring budget, filmed in a closet and a kitchen after the record company dropped them. Please look up their live versions. They can replicate any song. And I also vote for their original Run to You written by Avi and Kevin. It's beautiful.
On the bet, have to give it to my bearded friend. While there is some debate about this, his outfits and voice range indicates Mitch is actually 4 to 5 distinct peoples. Thanks for a great reaction! 🤣😁😎
You guys are so cute. Thank you for entertaining us with your reaction videos. She’s right. It is Mitch. He’s alway changing up his looks. Kirsten changes her hair color a lot, so sometimes people think it’s not her. The only member that has changed in the group from the beginning is Avi Kaplan who sings base. He went on to a solo career. If you want to react to one of his songs, I would recommend, “Change on the Rise”. Anyway, Matt Sallee now sings base. 😊
They won their 1st Grammy for this. It was also filmed in the closet of one of their apartments at the time. That is the same guy, his name is Mitch. This was very early in their Career and he lost weight, gained confidence and changed his style.
Your wife is right, sir. That's Mitch Grassi, from the formation of the group down to today. The only member change has been the bass singers, Avi Kaplan for Matt Sallee. My personal theory is that Mitch is like Dr Who -- there have been like 13 of him, all of them unique, very different from each other, yet all of them definitely Mitch. :)
One thing I've learned: always listen to your wife, she's always right. Doesn't matter if she's wrong, the wife is always right. LOL! For a couple of other lively, pop songs that are fun to listen to and watch, try Come Along or Attention. But as others have mentioned, you won't go wrong with Bohemian Rhapsody.
So glad you enjoyed it! Wife wins the bet!! Mitch and Kirstie look different in almost every video but it's always them. You'd probably enjoy watching a live medley to see exactly how in sync they are with each other so I'd suggest their Evolution of Michael Jackson next. It will definitely impress! Welcome to the PTX rabbithole. 😊
You guy's are fun to watch. The disbelief was hilarious. How do they do that? It's a question we all ask. After being rejected by their record company as "unpopular" they made this video. Filmed in a closet at a cost of a few hundred dollars, it earned them a Grammy. I'm guessing there were a few red-faced company execs. LOL. Loving your journey. Best reactors on UA-cam. Can I suggest you beg borrow or steal a set of quality headphones each. You will not regret it. Pentatonix play with sound, and the beast bass can only be experienced with headphones. Say hi to Arnold for me. When will "Arnie" be back. LOL.
I suggest you watch Avi Kaplan's solo work, Change On The Rise, and Otherside. These are two very different types of songs. Other Pentatonix I would suggest are Imagine and Bohemian Rapsody. For Home Free I would suggest Mayday and for a little fun All About That Bass.
I highly recommend you to listen to covers of Mary, Did You Know by Home Free, Pentatonix and another amazing a capella group VOCTAVE ft. Mark Lowry (he is the author of this song).
Loved your first with this, that’s always fun, but every time I have insight, but I don’t know this time. Avi is doing base and occasional air sound with the beat boxer I think he’s Kevin with the glasses and he doing some next level beating. But the singers, the trio. If it’s a trio it’s lead or soprano, then they need an alto that can be done by a guy with a high voice or practically any girl. Then they need a tenor sung by a girl usually at the top or a guy with A soprano voice or a guy singing the tenor a the bottom for three parts. But I know these three singers have been together since high school or earlier. They are so tight with their three part harmony and each with probably a four octave range which is crazy no matter who they are. So these 3 are all next level that one of them could sing baritone below tenor but the notes of an alto then the next would be lead and the next would be tenor. One time avi said he new their fan base wanted the sheet music for a certain song and it would be available some such time. So they must all read music and write music for themselves and each other. This trio really got me this time how talented they are and on a piece of sheet music these three voices could show up at any 3 intervals from baritone all the way up to above a female tenor voice. An interval of a chord could be C E G , the next interval would be the same chord E G C , then the third interval would be G C E then it would start all over again. These three are magic. And since they’ve been singing maybe 20 years together when they sing unison it isn’t high for anybody. All 3 could sing any melody in practically every register of their range. I’m not even a musician but 3 are the most fascinating singers here and that ps why they may be better as some say than Daft Punk themselves.I’m boring myself this time. But they got me again, Thanx for the react. And Kristen without makeup has a dark complexion, but here suddenly she’s light skinned and all blue with her cute grins. What a group….loved it. Thanx for the react.
PTX doing their upgrade on songs. Yes that's Mitch, she wins..😃. He changes looks all the time!! Kirstin does that often as well. Only one change ever in the group. Loved that u2!!! By the way they only have a few hundred video's out LOL
Your wife is right that is the same guy he lost somr weight and changed his look. Also i really hope you guys continue to react to pentatonix. I suggest the following videos..... Sound of silence Bohemian rapsody Love again(their origional) The prayer Radioactive Royals Thrift shop Evolution of michael jackson Evolution of music Also i think once you have seen some of their videos you should check out their performances from the show that they won the sing off

@@Bobal27 that’s an unbelievable brilliant shock. Would love to see them react to it. Now that would be an amazing reaction 👌
and the winner is the wife as always, just agree man
Welcome to Pentatonix and welcome to the fans also known as the PENTAHOLICS..Great reaction your in for a wonderful train ride. 👍🍀❤️🍀😁
Mitch is a fabulous chameleon of a human. He changes his look all the time. The voice, though? There is only one Mitch on Earth. Heaven may be another matter.
Mitch is just on loan, as most of us are.
Mitch is supreme in his job, other groups do amazing jobs, Homefree, Voiceplay, and others i think do great in their fields, but in Mitches area? he is tops, no contest.
Yes that’s Mitch!!! Same guy! Lol it’s common for Mitch and Kirstie to change their looks so often reactors after think they’re new people.

If you have to ask "Is that Mitch?" or "Is that Kirsten?", the answer is always yes!

It's Mitch! He's a real chameleon, though...so I don't blame you for being confused. It won a Grammy.
Yay more Pentatonix. This will blow your mind.
They won a Grammy for this!
You are a wonderful couple and are very entertaining. Your reactions and conversations are terrific.

Thank you so much!!😍
Your wife won this bet, that is Mitch, he looks different here because he was younger at this time, when you saw them in Hallelujah they were a bit older than they were here.
Yes it’s Mitch. It’s always Mitch ❤️
Cool, thanks!😀
Same guy.. but you are not the first to think the same!
Duft Punk is the best example to see how they do their part.
You are such refreshing reactors, happy to subscribe 🙂
Thanks for subscribing and your kind words😍💚😍
You guys are fun to watch and you can feel the good hearted banter between! Loved the rxn thnx!
Thank you for your kind words!😍
Your wife is right, the guy she said was Mitch, is Mitch! The same 5 people who sang Hallelujah. 😊👍
Thanks for the reaction.
Love ur reactions to PTX..
Yes, you are right! It IS Mitch!!! I love your reactions!! Please also look at their cover of The Prayer. It couldn't be more opposite of this cover.
We cannot stop now! 😂💚
I really enjoyed watching ya'll's eyes dance... And yup, that was Mitch, he changes looks more than a woman changes shoes.
Great reaction! Yes that is Mitch! Both Mitch and Kirstin change their looks a lot. There has been only one band member change. Avi left in 2017 and Matt replace him.
This song is one of PTX's three Grammys and was produced in one week, on a budget of $400 using Avi Kaplan's closet as their shooting studio.
Please, please react to Pentatonix "The Prayer"....Mitch sings so high, it will blow your mind! You will get "Mitch-slapped" 🤣🤣
Their financing fell though and they made this themselves for $400.00 and won a Grammy!
They also won a Grammy for singing The Sugarplum Fairy. A ballet dance without words. It's wonderful.
Wife wins bet 😂! I really enjoy you two very much! What a very COOL couple!
Thanks 👍 Wife always wins 😀
Yes that’s Mitch...he’s so amazing, they all are amazing. I loved your reaction. I just wanna tell you that Mitch and Kristen change their looks all the time. The only change in the group was when Avi left (the bass) and he was replaced by Mat in 2019 I think it was.
Thank you😍
This is Mitch, he is a chameleon, but he is always with the group.
I love your genuine reactions!! Please do more! New subscriber here!!
It was very fun watching your reactions. May I suggest Voiceplay singing We Don’t Talk About Bruno?
You were right. That's Mitch he is an amazing talent.
I just love your reactions. Please do more Pentatonix because there's a lot more to do. Plus check out Superfruit it's with Mitch and Scott!!
Thank you and more to come! 😀
Very nice reaction video. PTX has a ton of videos from "wizard of Ahhs" a take oh to "Sing" an original " to Havana.
You have a fun journey ahead of you! Suggest Bohemian Rhapsody as the next video
Nice reactions - that was fun!
Now try 90s dance medley...fits both of your interests. GREAT REACTION!
Added to the list! Thank you! 😀
Mitch and Kirstin have been friends since they were 8 years old. They met Scott when they were 14 years old.
LOL.
Sorry, I meant best bass, but beast is applicable.
You're wife is right 🤣🤣
I love your reactions
Thank you! 😍
Sound of silence
Bohemian rapsody
Love again(their origional)
The prayer
Radioactive
Royals
Thrift shop
Evolution of michael jackson
Evolution of music
Also i think once you have seen some of their videos you should check out their performances from the show that they won the sing off
