They filmed this in Avi & Kevin's Apartment, it cost them $400.00 and they won their first Grammy for it.
(the "props" cost $400, contacts, wig, make up, lights etc). The cost of getting the film professional edited, and the audio recorded and mixed etc, was more than that, trust.
TBH...it would have cost more than that. The initial filming, editing and audio was done in the apartment and probably for that cost for costuming, contacts, lighting, etc...but it was sent out for professional mixing and editing...which would not have been free.

@@KathyLuluandDonna The video was shot in their kitchen with a sheet backdrop, some steam/smoke, and a ringlight. The audio was recorded in a closet! Kevin wore the goggles because the contacts irritated his eyes too much (it apparently bothers most of them... Avi's eyes were seriously bloodshot!).

If you watch again and look really carefully, no one blinks when wearing the contacts. Ever. And all 4 of them have crazy bloodshot eyes. I'm with Kevin. Gimme them glasses instead.

PTX won their first of 3 Grammy awards for this song: Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella. The Recording Academy actually changed the category title to include "or A Cappella" the year PTX won.
Can you provide me with an official source such as one of the band members saying which songs are included. I've never been able to hear Around The World in this medley even though I've heard the original song more times then I can remember. I don't hear the sound of that song and they definitely don't say the lyrics.
I can't find any official source that clarifies which songs are used. I hear 6 and I think your information came from the Daft Punk Wikia which says the same thing. But I've even got an entire document which analyzes this song and claims 8! songs are featured.
Kevin was sensitive to the contact lenses. Avi was too as you can see how red his eyes were in the video.
Kevin did not wear the contacts because he said they bothered his eyes too much.
Kirsten has had a silver and blue wig, she has had blonde, black, brown, bright red, dark red, straight, curly, wavey hair and I know I am forgetting some. Unlike Mitch (the guy with the high voice) Kirstin has never appeared in a video or concert bald.
I don't know if she's appeared on stage with them, but also: Pink, lighter blue, purple, dark grey - from their Tik Tok compilation and interviews.
@@Badger77722 She definitely wore a pink wig for some of the performances in the world tour earlier this year. Their hair and makeup guy made a miniature matching pink wig for her baby girl Elliana!

Fun reaction! Nobody knows for sure if Kevin ( the beatboxer) opted to wear the goggles because of incompatibility with the contacts. They've never said. I do know that the trio (Scott, Mitch and Kirstie ) all wear glasses/contacts in RL, so those blue contacts may not have been as irritating as Avi's seem to be. ( note his red eyes!)

Avi left the group in 2017 and has a solo career now.
Avi is a classically/operatically trained singer and is also a great songwriter though his
sound is totally different from PTX.
He music leans more to the Americana/Folk/Country Western style.
Here he is at his cabin deep in the forests and hills of Tennessee.
He is livestreaming here so no studio sounds just singing for his fans.

Everything they do they can do live. Look them up an pick whatever you like. You'll be blown away.
The entire album these songs were on was a Concept Album, there was a storyline throughout the entire album. All of the songs ended up with animated MVs that visually tell the story along with the song lyrics. In those videos, the band's drummer wears glasses. So it also fit that the Vocal Percussionist, Kevin, was wearing shades while beatboxing. The continuity was cool. :)

Yes, that is indeed Avi Kaplan. He left PTX in September 2017 and now has an amazing, genre-varied solo career. Check out his already large catalog of songs, 90% of which are original and most have instrumentation, as he doesn't limit himself to a cappella.
There is a short outake at the end of this, and many early, videos that you cut off. They are cute and in this case showing the contrast to what they normally looks like catches many reactors off guard.

You should try Avi Kaplan's solo music. He's the basso profundo but his music is amazing. Change on the Rise and b w video of I'm only getting started When I'm a Fool live at Sunset Sound and many more. I'm subscribing hoping for more Avi and PTX.
