  • On August 3, 2019, Mitchie Brusco etched his name into the history books when he landed the world's first Skateboard Big Air 1260. That's three and a half rotations in the air, and Mitchie landed it like a boss. Because that happened two years ago today, here's a quick reminder of Mitchie's history-making feat!

      That's what I was thinking too. But the big difference was that Elliot did an indy 720 over the first gap, plus his tailgrab 900.

      I have a theory that judges rate spinning tricks lower ever since people freaked out about the 900 that one time

      you have to take both tricks into consideration. The 180 grab off the jump weakened his score.

      @vicbirth1649 Actually Tony did get the gold medal. Which he shouldn't have gotten, because he didn't even land it during the contest time limit. But the hype changed the rules.

      Yep that's the guy. I jokingly hassled him about his wheels having a flat spot and he needed a new set in one of the first vids of his I watched, without realising who it was. He even replied and had a laugh about it. He's a friggin legend and a great teacher. 🙂

    I love this so much! I know the comparison with the 900, but this was done on the mega ramp, the 900 was a regular half pipe.

      @@SeanVanGlahnand that’s physics for ya. You basically have to be pint sized to ride out of that much rotation. Or you’ll need an independently powered board.

    It’s crazy how Tony Hawk’s 900 is 1,000 times more well known than this 1,260. It just shows how much Xgames and general “trick shock value” has died out in the last decade (the age of Instagram).

      Another way to look at it is with a massive roll in and huge ramp, he only managed one more rotation than tony did on a vert ramp. Maybe It’s died out because they are only just catching up with the guys from 10 years ago 🤷🏻‍♂️

      @@Yosser70 totally. That’s a factor too. General progression in action sports makes us all grow numb to absolutely ridiculous tricks. Think of how mind blowing TP’s first double backflip was. And since we’ve seen a triple back on a moto and quad flip on bmx, and both were kinda like “Mehh, that was awesome. Okay, keep scrolling….” I miss the days when VHS (even early DVD days) when you had to be intentional about discovering the amazing progression in skate/snow/bmx/moto/etc.

    it's always been funny to me how you can tell by his facial expression right after completing the 1260, that he wished he had taken the gap trick more seriously… Don't get me wrong, Eliot Sloan deserved the gold medal on that day! He did more difficult tricks! And Mitchie knew it- the commentators say, look how "focused" he is… No, no, no. He was disappointed in himself- i'd be willing to bet just about anything that this is a correct assessment. prove me wrong- 🤷‍♂️

      Also Tony hawk stole the 900 from tas papa he was going to land the 900 in best trick in 99' but Tony did the 900 on vert Mitchie did 1260 on mega so what it made it possible outside of THPS why judge appreciate the progression and evolution of skateboarding.
