MITCHIE BRUSCO: What's Next? | X Games
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 жов 2024
- Mitchie Brusco made history at X Games Minneapolis 2019, landing the first 1260 on a skateboard. He was nonchalant about it, slowly descending the ramp, sill focused on the trick he had just landed for the first time. But it was clear from his first run that Mitchie only had the 1260 on his mind. His switch 180 over the 50-foot gap was instant evidence that he was focused on giving himself the best opportunity on the quarterpipe.
His first two 1260 attempts seemed close, but he ejected near the landing. On Run 3, he locked into his spin. The 1260 almost looked easy; Brusco didn’t even have to ball up his body. He tucked his left arm and landed as casually as if he’d only spun a 360. Brusco was expressionless as his colleagues came out to the flatbottom to celebrate with him.
“I didn’t feel anything, but I felt a lot,” Brusco said afterward.
What followed was a media frenzy. Mitchie, Mitchie, Mitchie… on Instagram, UA-cam, the national news, you name it. But this wasn’t the first time that Mitchie Brusco was in the spotlight. As a Big Air skateboarder at X Games, Mitchie has been known for pushing progression. His career at skateboarding’s forefront has been a series of firsts: landed the first 900 in a Big Air contest (2011, Brazil). Landed the first 1080 in SKB Big Air (X Games Barcelona 2013). And now, the first 1260.
Even Tony Hawk was speechless.
In the months that followed, Mitchie Brusco was able to reflect on his accomplishment. The Skateboard Big Air ramp is not just another ramp; it needed to be treated with respect, and Mitchie took the necessary time and practice to prepare himself for pushing the progression forward. Instead of jumping in and just going for it years ago, Mitchie backed off, proceeded with caution and seized the moment when the time was right.
This is Mitchie Brusco, unlocking the 1260, another first at X Games.

Brusco can do the cab 1440, I believe in you!
Me too
MITCHIE GO BODY VARIAL 2160
@@AruSharma04 I know. It wasnt meant to be that kind of comment. I'm just saying Mitchie is a great spinner and I believe he could have distanced himself one 360 over everyone else if he wanted to..
@@ErlendBuflod mine was sarcastic bro, come on. I was kidding 😭
@@AruSharma04 That was my guess 😁 Sometimes I have a need to explain myself
I really liked his emotions after he succeed. Something personal, something spiritual.
"You can go up, you can spin a bunch, and you can land"
-Mitchie Brusco
Tesssss
year is 2060: Mitchie Brusco attatches a helicopter helix to his head and proceeds to do a 1260, ends up doing a 56000 and flying from east coast to west coast to then land doing a heelflip
that heelflip!
To nose manual!
That’s so unrealistic. He would never risk that whole attempt for a measly heel flip at the end.
"Someone's gonna do something"
This is what I love about skateboarding. Infinite possibilities.
relates to almost all sports and disciplines
This kid is so humble. I love it. Respect to the guys and calmness.
I remember when tony did the 900. When everyone sprinkled their magic, and disneys tarzan appeared.
I wonder if Mitchie when he said he realised what we can really do, understood at the time he was spinning the 1260, that it was possible to squeeze even more rotations into that amount of air-time. I believe the guy, he's probably the world's most qualified expert on the subject at this point in time.
Oh my god when they showed it from their view right before going down the ramp, horrifying
I feel you.. I thought the exact same thing 💀
What's hilarious about contests is even if you EARN a "historic moment"...
You still may not be GIVEN a gold metal. 😕
Its not best trick, there's two features
It’s not like that bcoz what if Mitchie done the 1260, Elliot Sloan went and did one right after.. it’s about the completed variety not the never been done’s.
@@coadymacmillan2759 yeah, but still... That trick makes up for both the gap and the quarter.
@@sekulrtsnfnugg6126 no it doesnt, sloans trick was fuckin insane man, its about the combo, not single trick, otherwise nobody would do tricks over the gap and theyd just build speed
To see Mitchie grow up is awesome
seems like just yesterday he was that little hyper x-games grom, always jumping up and down. lol
he's a man now, and seems like a good guy. well spoken.
Came in to say how well spoken he is.
Freakin' awesome!!!! Well done Mitchie! What a bright mind of yours! You nailed it!
That landing was so stylish
Anyone who doesn't skate and thinks its easy better watch Jake Browns shoes fly of like he got hit by a truck. That impact was rough. I have never slammed this hard but I have come close. He literally fell like 4 and a half stories. 40 feet or something. Huge fall. 8 to 10 feet is considered a story. These boys are so Amazing. I never thought 30 years ago this would happen. Whats next boys?Rocket packs?
Rocket packs? Don't give them any ideas...
Nice video, not mentioning Jake Browns no grab 720 over the gap was a let down though.
true
true though. may he live through these comments hahaa
Got to see this in person
I honestly thought that Big Air would be dominated by Shawn White. His abilities on a snowboard would translate amazingly to the Big Air ramp. Shawn was slated to participate in the Big Air, I forgot what year, I want to say Xgames 16. He just laid down a monster run on vert and the judges failed so hard and PLG won with a less than impressive run. From what I remember, Shawn was rightfully pissed and removed himself from the Big Air. Please Xgames, correct me if I am wrong about anything. But that moment changed the face of Big Air because we never got to see how good the Flying Tomato could have been.
Maybe 1080 on vert? I'm still holding my breath on that one...
Would be great to see...
@@XGames Shawn White almost had it years ago.
Ko44cHPM was just done by an 11 year old on the berrics
Just happened
@@vinnykona2432 almost doesn't cut it. He still hasn't done a 9.
@3:01 homie hit so hard knocked both of his shoes off man. Thank God he walked away from that
I live in Colorado Springs and I approve this video!
once we have anit gravity and practicing any tricks is completely safe (just make them float if they mess up), skaters are gonna go up 100 ft ramps at terminal velocity and just beyblade let it rip
No wonder he’s wearing an icarus canopies shirt... the dude can fly
This needs more likes this kid made history
Legit think the ceiling is a 1440 and if there’s anyone who can do it, it’s this dude.
Very well said, Mitchie!
One of my favorite skaters!
1:10 ladies and gentlemen, that is how u advertise! Nice job maersk
Parabens voce é e sempre foi incrivel .
I guess the next big thing will be 900° combinations like a kickflip 9 or a board varial 9
He should of won gold in that event with that trick sadly he didn’t
This trick was the best! But like the judge, i think eliott sloan ´s run was better...
I wish it happened during a best trick contest because he would've gotten a perfect score. Unfortunately in this event they score both jumps separately
It's not counted for anything... Tony hawk raised the bar by doing it on a half pipe not a 200ft mega ramp where you get your height and power from a drop in.. Not counted
@@MurdaCrumpet without height its physically not possible. physics won't agree. mega ramp was open for anyone. but who ll dare do it. its the guts, the skills, the spirit, the mental strength to break the impossible barrier. he made a history. what are u bitching about
I’m going to be the oldest to win if I start practicing tomorrow
I’m already 42 but I’ve been riding vert all my life so hopefully that gives me an edge when it comes to not getting hung up on the coping. See y’all at the next event?
At least 5-10 years practice ! I’ll be in my 50’s ? See y’all in 2030
Shut up
Salvadge Twenty2S7even good luck! dont lose your shoes!
Salvadge Twenty2S7even i would love to see that i bet you got that!
Can't wait for the next event...
fkd me up when i realized Almost hasn't even released a Mitchie Brusco pro model yet.. Almost what is you doin?
1620, is right around the corner for skateboarders!
By 2022 I guarantee you it will be Stomped! PERIOD
I remember landing at 1080 switch on my snowboard in 1991, now snowboarders of today do that as a warm-up trick for their 1880 rodeo flips! It’s a good day to be alive in this modern era!!!
in 2022..... didn't happen yet
This comment aged like a fine milk
Seeing these slams then Seeing Lizzie’s slam. Mad respect for y’all
Beautiful 🤘
When's the live skate comps? Street and park is where it's at !!!!!
Next summer!
I remember this dude being tiny. I blink and he's a young man now. God I feel old.
Dude you are genius. Mr Brusco my god.
Fantastic
_Legend . . ._
this was a great video
A 1440 is next 😎🤘
I love that guy 👏👏👏
Tony Hawk: “This is a super saiyan”
Tom Scharr: “And this… this is what is known as a super saiyan who has ascended past a super Saiyan”
Mitchie Brusco: “And this… IS TO GO EVEN FURTHER BEYOND!!!!”
You could tell when he landed that thing that it meant a lot internally.
People who don't skate and little kids : "So he's better than Tony Hawk right?" 😂
Is he tho?
@@ukoncentreretlaeskedrik Yes he's objectively way better. Just add up their points and you'll see it's blatantly obvious.
seems like a smart kid
The cameramen of some takes should be sued for loosing the reference of the coping. 🙂 Filming the coping is absolutely mandatory for stating how high a manouver is. 😉
wow
Now for a big trick over the gap as well as on the quarter
3:34 Great Odin's raven!
5:45 Knights of Columbus!
Who is this guy? 😂
Funny how it wasn't on the news and it wasn't a big thing like the 9. Just goes to show that if someone's personality sucks, it doesn't matter how good you are.
I remember when rollerblading got kicked out of x games, that's what I remember about x games.
I can't remember the guys name who killed himself so many tries on the triple backflip. Lindy? Wasn't it called the triple Lindy oh wow memories haha
@@modest1989 @Modest89 He committed suicide because he couldn't do it or did he die while attempting to do it? Im confused because when someone says "killed himself" it usually indicates intent.
@@4eightyvolt I'm sorry I don't even remember making this comment but I did not mean literally in the sense that he died but he put himself through it attempt after attempt and it was brutal. Sorry for the confusion I see where my thoughts didn't turn into words really well there
@@modest1989 hey thanks for responding though. Many usually don’t bother replying to old comments. Its cool that you did.
@@4eightyvolt any time. have a good day/night!
This guy did what Tony hawk could imagine, and still didn't win gold, the competition was scuffed
1080 varial flip trick (kick flip, heel flip, laser flip)
awesome vid
Ah so this is where he is now, remember always seeing his name on the top two with my boy zac rose at the airfield in New Hampshire.... heard zac ended up injured the year Mitch went pro, congrats not so lil dude anymore!
Where was big air this year?
Try a double mctwist
Talk to me when your 54 and you still do it for the fuckin fun of it!!!
the Mega ramp is key since it gives MORE time and space to land big spins where regular vert 9 to 12 ft makes past a 720 nearly impossible. If Hawk had Mega ramps he would have landed 1020s in 84 when 540s were new! btw McGill getting credit for the "McTwist" is BS since Hawk had them mastered while MM was landing sketchy if not beefing dong 540s/Mctwists. This said, taking nothing from Brusco=the kid is NICE!
I saw Jake browns slam live at xgames and I thought his feet flew off.
His shoes definitely blew off. But he still has feet.
how do you spin so much and do a 1260.
Let me rephrase that is this guy the best half pipe skater ever?
It would be really tough to pick just one person to represent that title.
@@XGames yes it would be really tough because the anser is Yasutoko brothers
Is he better than Tony hawk in his prime you think
You guys think this is good? Y’all should see him box fight!
he never answered the question :( lol
i wonder how long he worked on that reaction
*Watches Zoolander multiple times, practices Blue Steel in the mirror...
Remember when he was 14
whats the background music at the beginning?
Generation by Stephane Sarrazin
What's next? Do the 1260 again but this time receive a gold medal.
I am a big fan of you you,re so so good I wish i can be you one day.
He made history yet takes silver
Double cork 1260
he kinda looks like schlatt
Dax Flame.
Shame that judges don't give you the time of day unless you go off the top of the ramp.
1800
what is it....ITS A TORNADOOOOO
