- My whole house declutter series continues with a massive purge of my clothing. I started with my closet and the plan is to get rid of half my clothes. I'm now on to the dresser containing underwear, bras, shape wear, socks, seasonal clothes, bathing suits, pajamas, leggings, and loungewear. And I'm also going through my outerwear. It makes me a bit sad to see women settle for raggy old clothes, cast offs from husbands etc, I have done it too and there is no need we deserve better. A couple of new pretty things don’t cost much and make us feel great. I can’t wear long sleeves to bed either so now cut them off, they don’t fray and usually roll on the edges, that way you can wear your PJs or Nighties. Very motivating video and I also love your dresser. When sorting socks and undies I find it helps to remember there are only 7 days in week, how many do I really need.
After 2 years of decluttering I rewarded myself with new pj's and i fucking cried while wearing something this beautiful

I’m so glad you rewarded yourself like that!! You are deserving of that and so so much more. But I treat myself the same way so I totally understand. I’ve been this way (wearing rags and not buying nice things for myself) long before marriage and kids so I definitely get it.

The number of items you have now might actually be good! It feels like not much but will help with the endless laundry piles to have less. Just improve the quality as time goes and do a one-on one-out process.
@@gabriellea7037yes you’re right, the number is good but some of the stuff I kept still isn’t in good shape (like socks) so I definitely needed to buy some new things to replace (not add to) the things I kept. I didn’t really do a good job of making that clear. I definitely don’t intend to keep more items than I have at the moment, just giving myself permission to buy some better things! 😁
I started storing my Christmas pj's, sweaters etc with my Christmas decorations. The sweaters were taking up too much room in my house.
I like how you think out loud and reason on what to keep and let go.

Great job, I love your commentary. The sticker was funny, I’m sure a lot of mom’s have that experience. One morning a woman at the gas station asked me to pump gas for her. She noticed when driving the kids to school she was running on fumes. Afterwards she didn’t think she would make it home, but she only had her pj’s, slippers, and a jacket on. It was winter and she was too embarrassed to pump her gas in Hello Kitty pj’s. 😂 I was happy too help, cheers to all mom’s.
😂 I would definitely be that mom, but never too embarrassed (maybe that’s even worse haha)
I love the kitties on the bed. It just screams peace. (Screams peace? Is that an oxymoron?) But I love the calm energy lol
Haha yeah kind of like screaming “calm down!” to someone freaking out 😆 the cats are a total stress reliever that’s for sure!

This was fantastic! And you're right...we often tend to deserve better than we have. Wearing rags is ridiculous when we can find better thrifting instead of trying to stretch garments beyond what is realistic. Sometimes we simply need to allow ourselves to spend a bit on ourselves. You really did a great job!

Good job!! Write down the gaps on a list so you remember what you can shop for as deals arise. If I go thrifting I take a photo of my list with me and review it in my car before I even step out. I feel like it's manifesting for the thrift gods to give me awesome deals for the items I'm hunting for haha
I keep a running list in the notes on my phone 😁 and the manifesting does seem to work, or at least makes me more focused when I’m out thrifting!

Manifesting thrift goods is a real thing 😂 so many times I say aloud one random thing I hope to find at the thrift store and voilà! Last time it was a rubik's cube for my son and sure enough there was one.

When i first started decluttering back in 2017 one of my goals was to buy Pijamas. Since teen to my 30’s I never had pijamas, I only wear old clothes to bed. Declutter push me to have dedicate cloths for bed only.

The bathroom won’t be super exciting because I did clean it already off camera. After filming it in the first walk through video I was too disgusted to wait any longer 😂 But the cabinets are very cluttered inside so that will be something!

You should store your Christmas clothes/PJs with your Christmas decorations that way it will be waiting for you when the season comes around and it won’t be in the way until you need it again.
Yes, this was mentioned before and I’ve done it that way in the past. But unfortunately I don’t have a single inch left in my Christmas bins 🤦🏻♀️ that’s another whole decluttering project in itself!!
I have loved the decluttering but am coming back for the story telling you had me laughing & those stories ring true in every house. I ordered a 2 t-shirts off TEMU for hubby total polyester crap so no more clothes from there but I do enjoy some of their other items. Now you get to have some fun shopping!!!
i have a dresser like that, with drawers that do not open all the way. What I did is, I rotated the clothes so that there are not three lines from front to back but just one from left to right. That way you see every item, they do not hide under the drawer over it
I know the kitchen is a nightmare but I got up one Saturday and thought shi.. This is it, today is the day, even things that were of my grandma, that hurt, but I had to. And now it's a lot better, go girl! you can do it 😂😂😂😂 by the way just subscribed you're hilarious!!

Just a thought! Maybe since you have a goal to wear pajamas you move them to the top drawer to make them more accessible and seasonal on the bottom :)
Haha this is by far my most commented suggestion and it totally makes sense! I didn’t even think about this at the time, but when I got the dresser years ago, I arranged it this way because the top drawer isn’t as deep as the others. So pajamas and leggings, etc, don’t fit as well and make the drawer hard to open. So putting smaller things like bathing suits is just what worked better. It would definitely make more sense the other way, though. It’s just the downside of older style furniture 😁

I had started my declutter journey in December, and that is like a a second pas as I
moved here just over a year ago and had done some before I moved. Have done a few areas since. Had to do laundry to finish clothes and then last night after being Inspired by you did my closet top shelf. Another day after watching went into kitchen to do a 3rd pass because knew a few more can go. Only problem is still all hanging out in living room.

I have one suggestion for you. Move seasonal items from the prime top drawer location to the bottom drawer and move leggings up there instead! Great job in all the decluttering!
A couple people suggested that and it does make a lot of sense. The reason I had shorts and bathing suits and small things up there is because that drawer is smaller (not as deep) as the other two. Anything else I have would be too big and the drawer wouldn’t open easily.

I found that most sets are too warm to actually wear to bed. 😂 I’m over trying to match 😂 if that warmer pj top that’s part of a set is loungewear not sleepwear maybe put it w sweatshirts or other loungewear? Keep up the great work!!🥰👍🏻

Great job! Here’s how I think of socks and pjs; we only wear one at a time and so when we do laundry regularly, we shouldn’t need more than 3 . Yeah, 3 pr of each kind of socks, and 3 pjs. Loved this video. PS. I just saw your end tables. Lovely!
I wish I could stay on top of laundry to make that work over here! That’s definitely decluttering goals. I’m sure once I’ve gone through the whole house it’ll be ready for a round two 😆 maybe by then I’ll have a better laundry routine since I won’t have as much to sort in the house. Here’s hoping!

Just found you yesterday and subscribed! Loving the closet and dresser declutter. Im so bad with pjs. I always turn old shirts/tanks into pj tops and wear with comfy type pants(yoga/joggers). I have never really been one to own actual matching pj sets! I’ve actually recently gone through my clothes and threw out a lot of “pj tops” that were just too stretched out and worn. Maybe one day I’ll actually own some sets and stop turning other tops into pjs!!

You wouldn't believe how my nephew had to roll his socks up ,when he was in the army..you roll both together and then pull the side of one inside out,under and up over the other sock..it looks like a oval tart when it's done but boy does it ever make a sock drawer neat.
Maybe this is helpful to you: When you go out to buy some nice new pyjamas, try to get some that are mostly cotton and or viscose and have max 5% of a synthetic material like polyester or elasthane. This might reduce your feeling hot and night sweats immensely. Synthetic Materials might feel very soft but are often not very breathable, So it’s better to stay away from acrylic, polyester & Co, especially for sleepwear.

My front closet is organized, except for shoes.
I decided when I moved here that tired of putting on lights and primping my xmas tree which is tall and skinny to made sure I could slide into side and leave all year. Then just pull out, worked like a charm.. really bad at figuring out shoes because need
to wear around for awhile each one and will probably last. You might need a break before another big one. Bathrooms are easier than kitchens.
I put my Christmas clothes in the Christmas tubs, My dresser is not big enough to leave something I only use once a year. good job 😀
A few people have mentioned the same thing and in the past I’ve done this with the boys Christmas clothes. But now I have more room in the dresser than in the Christmas bins 🤣 they’re packed full. Once I sort through those bins hopefully I’ll have room for the clothes 🙃

My dreaded area that I need to go thru is my big walk in pantry 😬 and my tshirts. I hang onto so many tshirts and I don’t know why. 🤪

Fun and motivating content! You deserve beautiful things to wear. My suggestion for the bra situation: Book a bra fitting appointment at a local lingerie shop or section of a department store. The salesperson will find several models that work, even sports bras. If you can't afford to buy all the ones that you like, take a photo of the tags (with item code) so that you can find them later or cheaper online.

If you purchase high quality items, you can have a much smaller wardrobe. They hold up better (usually) to wash and wear.
I can imagine that’s probably true, but I’m so uninterested in fashion that I would never spend that kind of money on clothes. Especially because my weight fluctuates a lot and the idea that something very expensive might not fit someday would gut me. Now as far as buying super cheap stuff from Temu (or shein, etc) I won’t be doing that anymore. It’s TOO cheap.

Lovely video! I feel like we are very similar-I got a huge laugh on the bra inserts… same sitch here with the girls! 😉👍 I also live in comfortable clothes. I have tons of hoodies, tshirts, and lounge pants. And 2 “good jeans” I wear in public. 😆 I gotta fix that but finding bottoms is difficult.
My next area I’m dreading is Christmas decorations. I have items that need repair, better packed, I have no clue what I even have. 🤦🏼♀️

Put the coats you want to keep but not wear, like your pea and ski coat, folded in a box in your closet. Then they will not take up room in the real coat closet.

So far I have purchased new underwear, like I mentioned in the video, exercise bras and exercise socks. It was a pack of 5 bras, so I trashed the two ratty ones I was planning to keep. Same with the socks, I got a pack of 8 and trashed all the old ones 🎉
