- My whole house declutter series continues with a massive purge of my clothing. I started with my closet and the plan is to get rid of half my clothes. @@DormanFamilyCircus Well, I did -- and I also got the motivation to declutter. I'm going to start pulling the things I actually wear and stick the rest in either a bin for storage or [gasp] a bag for Goodwill.

Ugh, watching this makes me realize I need to go thru all my tshirts. I probably have 50-75. WAY too many ! I do a lot of gardening and diy projects and I need some for painting and for working outside, but I do not need over 50. I’m with ya girl on “why do I have so many tshirts!” I think tshirts get more comfy over time. Softer and cozy. 😊
The tshirt hoarding is real 😆 but they definitely do get more cozy as they get older!

Here’s what I do, not including my 50+ pairs of tshirts, because I have a habit with buying tshirts. Lol , but going forward this is what you should do… if you buy a new shirt, get rid of a shirt… buy a new sweatshirt, get rid of a sweatshirt. That’s what I do… makes for a consistently clean closet. But I have a dresser full of tshirts. Maybe I’ll go thru those this weekend. 😮
Oh absolutely that’s the plan! We’re on a spending freeze anyway so I’m only replacing things at this point, not adding to it. It’s a great method for sure!

I wish my husband would be more on board to let clothes (or anything) go. He literally has THREE TIMES the amount of clothes I do AND he works from home! 🤣

And this is why I hate Walmart. What has our society become? What are today's children being taught? Discipline? Respect? I think not. It is a very sad day when one struggles not to wear pajamas to Walmart unless of course they have COVID, in which case they ought not to be out in public unless it is contactless pickup. What is your level of concern for your subscribers? You just essentially encouraged somebody to wear their pajamas to Walmart.

There are millions of other UA-cam channels out there so I’m sure you can find ones that fit in better with your feelings and philosophies. I’d rather you find other channels to watch than waste precious energy getting upset with me, since I think it’s just a matter of our personalities not vibing with each other. You could store the sentimental purple dress, and other sentimental dresses with your wedding dress :) All sentimental clothes together and save up some space in your hangers
My wedding dress was professionally preserved so it’s in a sealed box that I wouldn’t want to open. But I’m thinking they could all fit in my cedar chest which is really meant for storing heirloom pieces.

I loved this!! I've never seen someone declutter the same way as me. I love aiming to cut the volume in half. Shoes and accessories were crazy to cut in half too. I think I had like 40 belts and 110 pairs of shoes? Major problem lol. Now that I've done all this I am trying to do a no buy challenge for 2024. I've already screwed up though and brought 4 clothing pieces and 3 pairs of shoes in.. EEK! The addiction is real.

We all have those clothes for special occasions. For those with some kind of uniform means we wear our regular clothes even less

Loved your video. In the midst of working with a professional organizer. So far the clothing purge part has been mainly me & I liked the way you tackled it! Also loved your adorable void kitty playing in the closet! We lost the sweetest, best little polydactyl black kitty lady in December & miss her so much.

Well done... I'd been stalling and you motivated me to do a purge of my own clothes...I'm a not super strict minimalist and still wound up getting quite a pile of yay I lost weight clothes to get rid of and a few things id been keeping of raggedy "what if I need ratty clothes to do something messy in" stuff I have never actually needed 😂

I just did my clothes closet today. I didn't get rid of tons, but anything that didn't fit, anything with patterns I won't wear is going. Left with 2 skirt need the right top or sweater for. 2 blouses might alter or if not they go. Some laundry not done so will have to decide on those after. Hope you enjoy your closet and clothes.

I would put your bridal shower Dress & the sentimental dresses Into a box On top of the shelf With your wedding dress,that way it's not taking up space & you will always have them.
There’s no room on that flimsy little shelf but I was thinking of getting a garment bag.

I have that teal tank with the purple flowers. I love it especially pairing it with a blazer. Got it when I was pregnant with my first son and still able to wear it, it’s very versatile and I’m with you on getting to wear a normal bra (I hate to wear a strapless one)

You did a great job. I have a couple of really nice maxi dresses that i will probably never wear again but they were expensive and tied to an event. I use to have a ton of tshirts because working at a university, we get alot of free shirts. I did a huge purge and only kept a few and most of those i use in the summer as pajamas lol.
My mom used to work at Goldenwest College in the public relations department so we ALL got tons of those t-shirts. I still have a few in my pajama drawer. They were really handy when Brodie was a baby and spit up on me constantly 😆 I had an endless supply of the exact same shirt lol

ThredUp is good for getting stuff out of your house and off your plate, but you only get back a small percentage. I sent a huge bag and only got around $20. Better than nothing and glad I didn’t spend my time listing stuff, but disappointing money-wise.

You could make a memory bin for clothes that are sentimental. That way it saves room in your closet. I’ve been doing that for myself, my hubby and son.
I really, really love your channel. I watched part 2 first and then decided to come back and watch you declutter the closet and part one. I love how you give a count of what you're getting rid of and what you're keeping. You are just like me when I declutter. I like to know how much I get rid of. DON'T DO THREAD UP. THEY GIVE YOU PENNIES ON THE DOLLAR. WATCH MIRA videos. She sent a bunch in to thread up and by time she paid for the postage, she was in the black.
I figured I wouldn’t make much with them, it was maybe more a psychological thing that I’d get something for the clothes rather than just donating them. We’ll see how it goes just this once. I did keep a bag of vintage clothes to sell on eBay myself too.
I just got the upcanso queen bed frame from Amazon, its absolutely easy to piece together and has incredible storage. It's rated for 3500 lbs so that is very helpful. I do have a traditional mattress so I don't notice if there would be any sagging for foam types.i also bought mattress stoppers and placed them around the sides to keep it from moving around and it worked perfectly. I have multiple storage totes under my bed and it's very helpful.

The three sentimental dress, I would fold them carefully and put in either a large ziplock bag or space bag and slip them in with your wedding dress.
The dress box has been professionally sealed to preserve the dress and veil, but I’m thinking a hanging garment bag would work well.

Really wide wooden hangers take too much room.great for pants and heavy coats hun. Get some velvet hangers for summer and lightweight things❤
Now that I decluttered I have plenty of room for the wooden ones. I just love them 🥰
You will save a lot of space in your closet if you change your hangers to the slim velvet ones. If you like that of course 😊
Consider putting the Christmas sweater in with your holiday decoration box if you have one.

Definitely, I wouldn't even count them as keeps in your dress category - they're mementos! It's also better if everything in your closet is an option for you to wear each day. Good job on your decluttering :)
My ironic sweater was dark green and said "OFF DUTY" and I wore it all the way through the lockdowns which went on for 2 years here, so working and schoolingbfrim home I was NEVER off duty haha. I was thoroughly sick of it after that.
UA-cam recommend your video because it knows I love declutterred spaces and I’m a minimalist at about every aspect of life. Please don’t get me wrong, I am like you ….i usually don’t enjoy shopping for clothes and I’m definitely no fashionista 😆BUT I was wondering, how a person like me can end up with so many clothes??? As I was going though my clothes I realized I hang on to them because I don’t want to have to buy new things 🤣 so I wear the same old, gross, ratty stuff and hang on to every piece of clothing in hopes that I won’t have to go shopping! Lol!

I just have a self-deprecating sense of humor. Most of my family is that way really. I joke because I love! I know it can be off-putting for people who don’t joke around that way. My husband doesn’t really get it either 😆
If I may give an advice do not put your bed higher up, you will only end up with another space to clean :( the rowing machine get rid of it 😇 I loved how your husband said he appeciated you, so sweet!

Keeping items that were sorted in other areas just adds to " walking in circles!" Good job!
Nothing goes into the garage… there’s no room in there 🤣 all the stuff that’s getting trashed goes out to the dumpster immediately, all the things to donate go into my van and ride around back there with me until I get to the donation store (which is quite often) so once it’s gone, it’s gone! The only stuff I distribute to other parts of the house are things that I am not ready to tackle yet (like the office) or things that have a distinct place to live. But nothing goes back into the sorted areas once they’ve been decluttered unless there’s a spot for it. I’m not willing to undo all this hard work.
As someone who works retail, it is such a pet peeve to see people drape clothing over the racks perpendicular to the display because it covers what is for sale and it's rude to any other customers. I know they assume it's our job to hang stuff up properly for them but it's a better habit to unless and just learn how to hand stuff right.😤😶
Good thing this is my house and not a retail store. Rest assured I know how to behave in public.
I just came across your channel and I'm enjoying your video. This is the first one I'm watching. You mentioned thredup. There is another Channel peeling away the Clutter and Mira did thredup and she broke down what she actually made and the items they kept and she made $0. It was ridiculous the low amount of money that they gave her for items and then there was a processing fee so wasn't worth it. I should have waited to comment because I have to share that I am really laughing about you trying to justify keeping items. If you like it and you wear it keep it. You'll end up doing another decluttering session and you'll get rid of more. Cut yourself some slack. Thanks for making me laugh!
