What On Earth Is Going On At Hull City? (2024 Update)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 18 вер 2024
- Hull City finished 7th in the Championship last season, one place and three points off the play-off places, yet over the summer, the club sacked Championship Manager of the Season nominee Liam Rosenior.
Rosenior was replaced by Tim Walter, as 23 players departed and 16 arrived in a massive summer rebuild, and now the Tigers find themselves winless and inside the relegation zone five games into the 2024-25 season.
So in this video, HITC Sevens takes an updated look at the chaos at the MKM Stadium, Hull City's tumultuous pre-season preparations, and why the Tigers appear to have fallen so far in such a short period of time.

Alfie's Hull City updates are the only reliable occurances in an ever changing and progressively more frightening world
What’s even more reliable and occurs more often is his insistence on acting like his progressive woke views and ideologies are some sort of fact of the world and anything that contradicts it is evil and he has to make sure to make fun of anything or anyone remotely conservative like the indoctrinated child he is
Petition to rename these vids " What the Hull is going on?"
Actually surprised Alfie didn’t think of that first! 😁
I’m an American who barely follows the Championship. Thanks to Alfie I can wax eloquently about the trials and tribulations of Hull City.
It's that time of the year once again.
This is my favorite series. Not the What the hell is going on at X in general, but the What the hell is going on at Hull City specifically. 🍿
Why bring up X ?
Thanks Alfie, hearing about Hull makes me feel better about my own club
Seeing Liam Rosenior start pretty decently at Strasbourg must be the most painful thing ever for Hull City fans
Crazy how Hull City are making BlueCo look intelligent
Honestly when he was sacked, I assumed he'd done an interview where he said he likes punching children for fun or something along those lines. I thought there was no way he'd been sacked for his performances, right?
As a Hull fan, I have a lot of love for Liam, but he just isn't that good of a manager. We were better than a 7th place finish with the squad we had he just had incredibly awful tactics.
Good luck to him….decent all round fella.
Rosenior such a sexy man 🥰
As a City fan, the thing that makes me most upset is watching Walter set us up without a midfield. I think the loss of Seri stings nearly as badly as the loss of Liam.
Resenior's sacking was crazy, I'm an Ipswich fan and he would have been on our radar during the Summer when there was talk of McKenna getting lured away. Greaves has started well too (sorry to rub that in)
I am also an Ipswich supporter and I would have been incredibly happy with Rosenior as an appointment had McKenna departed this summer.
Ditto
No joke i actually cried when greaves leaved for Ipswich
@@nickntaou ah mate it’s only football
@@jontalbot1I sort of get what you’re saying but they do have all rights to cry. Personally that’s not something I would’ve cried about but I myself have cried about football before like when my club was on the brink of destruction and the fans as well as other fans from up and down the country came to help us. Some of the chanting from that game could make anyone cry
‘Now to end on a positive we’ve signed Player X who’s just had an operation’ is peak Hull tbf
Only one thing we look forward to more than a deep dive on the a 4th tier Ethiopian side with multiple tangents into African Geopolitics and the history of african colonization is Hull City updates. Never change Alfie
What is it with teams sacking managers with them high up the table for a manager with a more attractive style? Can't think of a situation where it worked out.
More then likely its incompetent club leadership with no vision whatsoever of the clubs situation nor the a future plan. The "Agressive and offensive-minded playstyle" is a pretty way of saying "I dont like how you play even tho I dont understand football"; because its not like Rasenior was playing a Catenaccio at Hull
@@majorkalashinikov1277 oh yeah for sure. Birmingham found out the hard way last season.
Rosenior was sacked due to our owner being bored during home matches as the style of play was boring and we were failry poor at home, as you can see from this video, that decision has worked so well for us 😉
I've literally only ever seen it happen with Birmingham and Hull. In most cases unattractive football can be tolerated or even appreciated if the results are good. The managers get sacked when the results can't defend them anymore. With how high the stakes are in top level football sacking a successful manager over his boring style is arrogant and careless, just asking for disaster
@@zosiazaremba7479 Definetely agree. My local football team played a very defensive style and had their most successful season ever. How my team plays is irrelevant as long as the results are there.
Can you do a weekly Hull update as a UA-cam short? I couldn’t really care less about Hull normally but for some reason I can’t get enough of these Hull videos! Love the content
there is a certain charm about hearing news from an insider who does genuinely follow a club closely and cares about them
As a german I can promise you that you will love Walter in a few months. Everybody hated him in germany for beeing over the top and completely crazy but they did love him at his club in hamburg. And thats not an easy club/city. He's the kind of guy that lives for the team he is coaching. Yes he is and will be stubborn in terms of his playing style but you will see improvements.
Also: Mehlem is (if he stays fit) a bundesliga level player. I would have loved him at my club Bochum but even after 3 years of being back in the bundesliga we still have zero money :(
And everyone at Stuttgart thinks he is a clown for ignoring Wataru Endo, who would become club captain at Stuttgart later on. It’s fair to say that his sacking after just half a season was absolutely justified as he probably would have prevented Stuttgart from being promoted
Shocked that hamburg fans liked him given he failed to get them promoted three times
Yeah but you have lead in the water in Hamburg
@@boschvateras a Karlsruher I can assure you we feel the same. Walter is a clown that for some reason doesn't like us anymore despite nothing between the club and him ever happened and we actively promoted his career as a youth coach prior to him leaving.
When we eventually get pumped by Leeds and sack our 12th manager in 12 years. I think it's about time you did a video on Cardiff. Honestly, it's mental.
Sicko's uniting to learn what is happening in the Championship and Hull City and Alfie suffering. Nice video. Keep up the good work.
18:55 for a second there i thought Selma Hayek also called out Jimmy Saville😂
wanting to get promoted and appointing the hsv coach?
brilliant
Hull City isn't my favorite club, but can you please do the same thing for Everton in the next video? Should have deserved another update.
They were a complete mess right now. 4 losses after 4 first games, the last 2 were more painful as they surrendered a 2-0 lead, and more recently, the disappointing exit in the EFL Cup against Southampton on penalties. Looks like an era is over for the Merseyside Blue in top-flight football.
Always love how this has become a once a year thing. Almost like a review of Hull City from top to bottom
WHEN IS IT GOING TO END ROBBIE 😭
I still to this day can't wrap my head around them firing Rosenior, has to go down as one of the all time worst decisions in football history. I genuinely fear for our championship survival this season.
I was in denial when I first heard the news. Talksport first broke it I was like ‘yeah but it’s talksport when do they get things right, why would we sack rosenior’ then sky broke the news I was like ‘now they’ve fallen for it, such idiots’ then the club statement came out. I felt bad for 1904 club as there was a fans forum that night and of course all anyone would talk about was what a terrible decision sacking arguably the best manager we’ve had since Bruce. (I’d make the argument he’s better than Bruce as Bruce had a better squad and a bigger budget, I’m sure if rosenior was given time he would have had similar success).
That opening was tooo good, I couldn’t stop laughing 😂
Haven’t a clue about Hull but I always watch ALFIE! Hello from Las Vegas
How is this possible, if you always watch Alfie you should be a hull city expert with his bi monthly in depth updates
Your channel is simply the best. Keep it up Alfie
33:38 speaking as someone who's binged far too much Kitchen Nightmares, that's actually Hell's Kitchen you're showing clips from Alfie
Yes of course.
I just can't wait for Hells Kitchen Nightmares!
Always something going on at Hull never a dull day 😂
It’s never dull in hull
When Colombian youngster Gustavo Puerta secured a loan deal Hull City from Leverkusen, I, as a Colombian myself, was pretty excited. Although Leverkusen is an exciting team where he can develop, he had no game time last season, for obvious reasons. With Hull having respectable last season, I thought this could be it for him. Then, i learned about the circus that's happening there
This is by far the best video of yours I've EVER seen. I couldn't agree with you more. I am worried about our club and very disheartened and dejected with what's happened since May. I can't believe it. I look forward to your next video.
These videos are becoming a stark reminder of how much quick time is going 😭
We won only 3 home games in 2024 under Liam, we had a clear problem in goal the fact that both of our goalkeepers was in the top 5 worst keepers with over 16 more goals conceded then we should of.Pandur has been the only bright spark in this season which shows he should of played last season
On the flip side, you finished 7th. Going from a relegation scrap to almost making the playoffs is arguably a good thing. The fact they're currently in 22nd now might indicate that sacking the manager wasn't a great idea.
@@somethinglikethat2176 your absolutely right as well mate which shows how much of a mess the clubs is actually in
@@gazzadonawithout knowing about hull too well that suggest to me that if you had even one good gk last season making a few more saves you probably would have got a few more points and made the playoffs and the keeper position is the only one a manager can’t really coach as much to improve (at least since rosenior was an outfield player) so he can’t even be blamed for keepers doing a poor job.
I loved watching them in the championship last season with carvalho and zaroury
Finally a hull City update. I'm a big Tim Walter fan and hate to see how it's going
I can only assume you must be his mother.
I'm a simple man, I see Alfie upload a Hull City video, I press like.
Another certified hood classic and I've not even watched it yet.
Cant wrap my head around Liam Rosenior is old enough to be a manager.......
Loving the new involvement of all the memes! Adds an extra bit of humour to the videos!
NICE ANALYSIS.🔥.
Never a dull moment at Hull! 😆
TBF Hull are a work in progress at the moment. They have made many changes and need some time to gel. We need to give Hull city time.
ALFIE YOU BROUGHT US ON A JOURNEY TO HULL SO MANY TIMES I SWEAR TO GOD NEXT YEAR WE'LL BE MAKING A TRIP TO AN ACTUAL HULL OF A CRUISE SHIP.
Also poor Alfie suffering slow descent to insanity looking at how Hull City has always been (mis)managed.
Lmao im not even English but that intro was fire😂
2:40 That's 3 seasons ago Alfie-
I’m so glad Rosenior is doing well at Strasbourg, a much better club than Hull City (no offence). Hopefully he can make a push for Europe and make the Hull City board look like absolute numpties
Sacking Liam Rosenior was dumb & arrogant. As were most of the signings foisted on him in January, the one signing we needed, a striker to replace Liam Delap we didn't get. Instead we got a past it Billy Sharpe, a winger we didn't need & a left back who still doesn't want to be here who was outplayed by a kid from the U21's. Sure we got Carvalho, great player & we had a superb season over all. When you consider it was pretty much a league one back four Rosenior did a remarkable job. Sure home form fell away but Tufan missed the penalty against Watford not him!
We played some great stuff at times, Southampton hardly got a kick at their place, great games against Leicester & Ipswich all a good watch.
Really building something & now we have nothing 👎 A clueless coach & a team going nowhere but down. They don't care, they're not buying it, he'll be gone soon. What a great shame.
the start is not me, I am just glad you posted
Tyler Morton was on the bench for Liverpool at the San Siro in the Champions League last night, and Fabio Carvalho was scoring 1 and assisting 2 for Brentford in the League Cup. When you lose that calibre of player from a championship squad, you're going to notice it.
Thanks for the Dull City update. Now back to the hits.
As an Everton fan, these videos make me feel SLIGHTLY better (sorry Alfie)
Philogene, Morton and Carvalho were excellent last season. Not having them this season was always going to leave a gaping hole in the quality of the squad.
That intro was gold
Arsenal have the exact same problem with happy clapper fans Alfie it’s not just a hull thing, anyone who dares question arteta or the kronkes is called a spurs fan
As a gooner myself this is sad but true
As a Hull City liker and not supporter I very much enjoy these updates, please keep them coming!
4:45 Just as many opposition players started both Hull vs Argyle and Hull vs Sheff U, Michael Cooper lining up in goal for both
Fun fact, Acun while not owning my club (Panathinaikos) has a very close friendship with our owner.
He worked behind the signs to kick out our beloved manager Ivan Jovanovic while we were 1 point off the top during the winter break and brought in 71yo Fatih Terim, who kicked us down to 4th and almost denied us European football, which was saved by a cup-win by our interim manager.
This man is an absolute menace.
Great update alfie, been a hull city fan for 50 years,
The best striker weve had was keith edwards ,
We could do with him in his prime
Well, as someone who follows Hamburger SV quite closely, i could have exactly told you what Walterball means. It just takes a loong time of suffering until you get results and truly beautiful football. (And then HSV sacked him when it actually started working. Somewhat.)
Oh, the annual video! We all love it! 🙂
Just reinforces how lucky my club (Middlesbrough) is to have Steve Gibson as chairman and owner.
Although this is is my absolute favourite football channel on UA-cam bar none, and I'm sure if I met Alfie in real life I would feel completely and utterly starstruck...
...as a Newcastle fan, I have to ask, what would Alfie do if the Saudis were to buy his beloved Hull City? I certainly wasn't sticking a tea towel to my head when we were taken over, it was more just a relief that Ashley had gone... which I feel very few external fans realise just how bad, negligent and sly he really was as an owner.
Does that make him worse as a human being than the Saudis? Of course not. But it's very hard to walk away from your club, especially as there is a chance of some positivity after so many years of neglect and under performance.
We watch our team to feel part of a community, feel the rush and adrenaline of a win and to be on a journey, more often than not without a say on who runs the club.
I'm embarrassed at the Saudi dress up parade than Newcastle fans did, but I would be interested to know how many fans would actively boycott and leave their club if they were in similar plight as we were under Ashley and were offered a chance of avoiding that outcome under a sinister regime.
Would Alfie ditch Hull City and support Humberside Juniors in the 11th north division? Perhaps he would; and he'd be a more moral man than me. I just notice this dig against Newcastle and sometimes their supporters popping up more and more regularly.
Doesn't stop me loving the channel though! Keep up the good work!
Acun wants to try different manager and player combinations to see the results. In the grand scheme of things the club has been progressing really well. They did manage to get promoted, increase their revenues and attendance, and the only thing left is the Premier League.
I literally just watched the last update yesterday Alfie
it feels strange Walter has signed for Hull as he is heavily depending on Player Material and building a squad to fit his Playstile. His standing in Germany was decent, even after Hamburg has sacked him and it feels like he could have got a stabler and more attractive job.
If you are failing 3 consecutive times to get Hamburg promoted you are probably not that great of a manager. Hamburg are playing their 7th season in the 2. Bundesliga and have had one of the most expensive squads in the league every single season, yet other teams like Paderborn, Fürth or Kiel who are operating on a smaller budget have managed to get promoted while Hamburg has failed 6 times now.
@@boschvater i would say things are more complicated. In his first season they were beaten by werder and schalke which were newly relegated with great squads. The 2. Season they were brilliant an would probably comfortably promoted without the ban of Vuskovic. At the end they missed out on 1 Point with 66 Points in total which would you get promoted normally
I LOVE THE HULL CITY UPDATES! Slowly year by year making me a hull city fan!
I love that I'm subscribed to the best Hull City fan channel on YT!
Long shot I know can you do a What on Earth is going on video at Irish club Dundalk. Nearly became the first Irish club to reach the group stages of the UCL back in 2016 and were then unlucky not to qualify for the knockout stage of the UEL. Recently on the brink of liquidation and near certain to go into administration now during the 2010s they dominated Irish football and are the second most successful club in Ireland.
Jesus. I want to see this video made. Sounds crazy.
Dundalk faced Arsenal not long before in UEL, right?
@@ezraezra2928 yes in 2020 during covid but they were much stronger in 2016
great idea, as a Welsh prem fan I always look at the league of Ireland and think that Welsh football should be like that. good luck to shamrock in Europe this season
Don't worry Alfie, it could always be worse, you could be a Stoke city fan. We keep rebuilding our team every summer and then firing our new manager shortly after resulting in a never ending cycle of squad and staff rebuilding and 14th placed finishes.
Your winless run is soon to end on Friday night because luckily we've just fired the best manager we've had since relegation 5 games into the season and replaced him and his whole coaching staff with a coach who's never had a 1st team job, but did once share a coffee with pep so we're destined for the champions league.
Meanwhile my team Oxford have had a great start to the season, sitting in 7th, three wins & scored in every league game. Yes we signed a lot of players but looks like the recruitment so far has paid off. Here’s to the next 41 games, plenty of time to turn things around or keep momentum
That was Mint mate , and that's coming from a Man united fan , ps I keep my fingers crossed for HCFC🤞
Thats crazy how bad theyre doing since there are so many Hamburg fans missing the enthusiastic high pressing all out attack philosophy we played under Walter
Alfie, we need wither rise and fall of Sevilla video or a what on earth is going on in Seville one
i still dont understand why Championship clubs not in the top spot but in the "midst" of a playoff spot suddenly spend money in January when it's more likely they'll waste money by not being promoted and are probably closes to a points deduction than a premier league spot
As an Everton fan, I'd wish we would handle quicker with Dyche. Respected the man at Burnley and what he did last season, but we look terryfing in this season.
This is the 4th one I’ve watched Alfie, when will they get their shit together
Video idea:
Alfie ranks the Premier League walkouts (anthems, light shows, pyrotechnics, etc)
Sounds American. And dumb
Hi Alfie, please do a video about the chances of Celtic getting top 8 automatic qualification after seeing the CL draw.
Oh I've been waiting for this one! Though I was sure it'll come mid season
Could be worse You could’ve had Clarke Osbourne, Gary Johnson and George Edward’s dragging the club down
Look forward to you playing at fratton Park this season lol. Good luck this season
40 minutes video about Hull City,Alfie has finally snapped.😂😂😂😂😂
I wouldn't even know how old I was if not for these videos
Babe wake up, new Hull City video has dropped
The virgin summer rebuild vs the Chad January rebuild
As a fellow club who foolishly sacked a well liked manager last season, what on earth is going on at Accrington Stanley may be in order soon
I hear the roars coming from the stadium, It sounds like things are going well this season...
I'm originally from Tottenham, but Hull is my adopted home and I feel like I fit in perfectly. Managers coming in, doing well then being sacked for no reason? That's just like Spurs! A squad in constant rebuilds because they develop talent then don't win anything so can't keep them? That's just like Spurs!
What on earth is going on in AS Roma
That tweet seemed incredibly American. That’s exactly the way professional sports are viewed in the US, where the real passion and tribalism is reserved for college sports.
Pure genius. Incredible insight and opening your heart up to us, I thank you Alfie.
Alfie! Shouldn't that be "What on earth is going on at 'ull City?"
I personally felt Giles was overrated when I watched him play for Luton, does okay attacking, but terrible defensively.
“No Alfie, I will not watch a 40 minute video on championship side Hull City, as a Liverpool fan” I say as I click on the video
Babe, wake up, a new "What on earth is going on at Hull City?" just dropped
Hey Alfie not sure if you look at leagues as low as national league but looking at York city's turnaround this season might be something to look at.
If the performances stay as they are through the season
Nah, Todd Bohley is going to say “hold my beer” and sign two entire rosters during the winter window.
Walterball in the English second league. You love to see it. No worries, he'll bounce back and you'll miss relegation by inches just as HSV did last 6 years.
As a Brighton fan I was going to say Steven Alzate could do well for you but I just saw he hasn't played yet.
As a Hull fan, still angry about Rosenior being sacked and with each loss the anger grows XD
At least you guys have Kappa as your kit manufacturer and have sick kits and training shirts and jackets.
I didn't know this channel was still going
The Hull City vid is here
Hulls new gaffer was failing at my homeclub Hamburger SV. He had one of the best Zweite Bundesliga Squads and failed promotion
Being a Hull City fan is like wearing a hair shirt. I see all these other fans with their nice cotton blends, maybe even a linen shirt. But here I am, itchy and irritable, knowing my love of my club and the bombed out husk of my ancestors will never allow me to change.
