thank you!!!! i can't tell you how many people say "all you do is bang them together"...i bet none of them even know how to hold the cymbals correctly!!!
Dude Classic Orchestral cymbals are so clean and amazing. So much better than the stadiums also a bit heavier like he was saying in the other video. Damn SCV, so amazing!
I'm learning to play cymbals for a PIW-class indoor near chicago...our tech just says "watch scv on youtube"...now I know why! I'll definitely be learning from them.
saw them in allentown the other day. I love SCV especially since i'm the captain of my school's cymbal line. it just reminds me that being the cymbal captain isn't lame, ESPECIALLY if you come up with sicka** visuals.
dude closest 2 the camera is SOOOO BEASTY!!!!!!!! i was almost 2 close 2 him while shooting video @ the walnut, ca. show this same year (it gets way crowded obviously :b) and it got scary at times when id feel his cym woosh right by me :b
congrats, but im pretty sure the all of the tallent in your entire cymbal line added together is equal to about 1/4 of 1 of these guys. its not about how many notes you have. its how well you play them
No fucking around here, those were the most intense face i've ever seen, I'm pretty sure that if i had looked one of them in the eyes my head would explode
@MrAc2181 My sophomore year someone in my history class was talking about how marching band was for people who didn't do sports. A year later I was in a band he drummed for and I had to teach him the differences between 3/4 and 4/4 time. Oh the irony.
Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but you basically just verified my statement by basically telling me it's about personal stuff more so than playing, thus waste of time to clean and even make a line out of. Don't get me wrong, these guys are good at what they do, but my high school cymbal line plays more notes... I'm not even kidding.
Nothing...absolutely no instrument that is being marched on a field is necessary. A group can put battery instruments in the front if they wanted, it doesn't have to be on the field. It's not necessary but it just is there for effect. It's almost like how people say marijuana is bad for the body, and they drink hard liquor.
Well, I'm not taking away from they're talent on cymbals, but honestly, it's not exactly as dificult to be good at them like it is to be at tenors, snare, bass, or a keyboard. And I forget if I already posted this, but I think my HS cymbal line is pretty good, check 'em out: watch?v=sutbfbGStcg
umm...not really. PC's will be one to watch for sure, you'll be surprised just be a little open. Unless you play cymbals then, then i guess I can't really talk to you about it.
Okay that wasn't even what I was getting at but at the same time you've made it even worse. At least bass drums all sound different, unlike the cymbal line. I mean, there's probably a reason why most corps' percussion ensembles don't have cymbal lines anymore.
oh i get it now.. I didn't know what guardgirlerin was talking about .. but now I do.. I saw them craddle an imaginary baby, then they cut it's neck twice. Then they threw it onto the floor and cocked their shotgun back and shot the baby in the face and licked up all the blood in an evil way. O_O
Cymbals are like the bass line except with more visuals than notes, along with a lot of those notes being unison crashes and everyone's cymbals sounding the same. IMO cymbals are a waste of time and effort in drum corps.
thank you!!!! i can't tell you how many people say "all you do is bang them together"...i bet none of them even know how to hold the cymbals correctly!!!
The best cymbal line i've ever seen
this is the best camera angle EVER.
Dude Classic Orchestral cymbals are so clean and amazing. So much better than the stadiums also a bit heavier like he was saying in the other video. Damn SCV, so amazing!
not to mention the most BADASS cymbal line too, no one can touch these beasts right there.
hands down the best cymbal line
to play like these 4 guys takes an insane amount of skill.
I'm learning to play cymbals for a PIW-class indoor near chicago...our tech just says "watch scv on youtube"...now I know why! I'll definitely be learning from them.
I love cymbal lines, and im a bass player lol.. I didnt get a chance to check out SCV in the lot when i was in san antonio this year
yup, to be awesome at something, u gotta learn from the best
i remember my year in the cymbal line. was some hard stuff.
Q: Why do SCV's cymbals always looked pissed off that world?
A: Because no one gives them the respect they deserve.
SCV always has the best cymbal line. They are precise with every movement.
three people dislike this cus BD cant have a great cymbal line like SCV. only one word. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SCV's and PC's platelines are the ones to watch next year.
Gives me alot of inspiration =)
They sound the best...
SCV cymbals are beyond amazing......
My computer just exploded from the sheer brilliance
I dont think i have ever seen a cymbal line as intense as SCV or Crossmen..
Prime example why cymbals are amazing. :D I love being a cymbal player in the Drumline!
3 people have no idea how hard it is to play cymbals.
the funny thing is that people who dont march, dont actually know how heavy those are. and what it takes to do the stuff we do.
Playing Cymbals is way more harder than phsysical warmup
SCV's cymbal line is soo baddass!!!
daaaaaamn they are quick!
Do any of those flip tricks involve the cymbal ever leaving the grip?
i think if u were in their cymbal line and playing at this magnitude, i wouldnt give a crap what he did.
Oh man, dem SCV boys can sliiiiiiing!!
saw them in allentown the other day. I love SCV especially since i'm the captain of my school's cymbal line. it just reminds me that being the cymbal captain isn't lame, ESPECIALLY if you come up with sicka** visuals.
@smokeysmithes
Hey i was there! Did yoy get to see NCA cymbal line? They're so good!
YEEE NITHIN N NICK
Different sound element? How much so since the pit already uses them?
the best part was from 0:00 to 2:12
vanguard set the bar for how good a cymbal line should be
Medium-heavy cymbals are 20 feet in diameter?
yeah my hs uses 19's and, we dont use gloves though, we have to clean an buff the finishes every night... we do need to start though, lolz.
dude closest 2 the camera is SOOOO BEASTY!!!!!!!! i was almost 2 close 2 him while shooting video @ the walnut, ca. show this same year (it gets way crowded obviously :b) and it got scary at times when id feel his cym woosh right by me :b
@DrmrGuy1979 That explains it thanks!
dude those guys are ripped that takes a lot of muscle
@EffectiveButSimple SCV cymbal line tradition, i think
congrats, but im pretty sure the all of the tallent in your entire cymbal line added together is equal to about 1/4 of 1 of these guys. its not about how many notes you have. its how well you play them
that was sick
the guys closest to the camera is really scary.
FIERCE.
No fucking around here, those were the most intense face i've ever seen, I'm pretty sure that if i had looked one of them in the eyes my head would explode
@BlindAsian Second in from the left?

@EffectiveButSimple vibe
@MrAc2181 My sophomore year someone in my history class was talking about how marching band was for people who didn't do sports. A year later I was in a band he drummed for and I had to teach him the differences between 3/4 and 4/4 time. Oh the irony.
Wow, I just saw the "kill the baby move" this vid is pretty scary and amazing at the same time.
holy shit. saw that in the vid and couldn't stop smilin and screamin.
Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but you basically just verified my statement by basically telling me it's about personal stuff more so than playing, thus waste of time to clean and even make a line out of. Don't get me wrong, these guys are good at what they do, but my high school cymbal line plays more notes... I'm not even kidding.
cymbals rule all day
Is there some kind of rule about the cymbal line having shaved heads or are they just that badass? ;)
@DanReed94 He's Indian....
that guy on the right looks like hes going to cut my head off with that cymbal
Nothing...absolutely no instrument that is being marched on a field is necessary. A group can put battery instruments in the front if they wanted, it doesn't have to be on the field. It's not necessary but it just is there for effect.

0:22 dayum! dude's about to kill somebody. melting bodies with lazer beams from his eyes!

they must be ripped after finals...
nithin is a bad ass!!!!
SCV Has the best cymbal lines ever but....
1:49-1:50 the second cymbal player looks like he's humping his cymbals like Quagmire
Amen.
14 years later and I can't help but point out how wrong this opinion still is. lol.
i love "kill the baby" just thrown in there!
4 people use sabian cymbals
@heinzie5 not scv cymbal line that is xD
umm...not really. PC's will be one to watch for sure, you'll be surprised just be a little open. Unless you play cymbals then, then i guess I can't really talk to you about it.
no, just scvs
Okay that wasn't even what I was getting at but at the same time you've made it even worse. At least bass drums all sound different, unlike the cymbal line. I mean, there's probably a reason why most corps' percussion ensembles don't have cymbal lines anymore.
They didnt forget to shoot it either!
theyre fukn grest!
Is there any coincidence as to why they're all bald?
oh i get it now.. I didn't know what guardgirlerin was talking about .. but now I do.. I saw them craddle an imaginary baby, then they cut it's neck twice. Then they threw it onto the floor and cocked their shotgun back and shot the baby in the face and licked up all the blood in an evil way. O_O
