The real event had Roosevelt stop the crowd from lynching the assassin, instead grabbing his head to see his face and if he recognized the man before sending him away to be handed over to the police.

The funny thing was, teddy Roosevelt was considered a progressive at the time. He was commonly called a socialist for his trust busting, even though teddy never cared how big the businesses got, just as long as they did it fairly. (Kinda how a lot of progressive politicians are treated today) He also made labor laws He also was a conservationist, building the national park system, protecting millions of acres of public land that we all now can enjoy today. At the time, these were seen as over regulatory and was only hurt businesses. Starting to sound familiar?
@nate742 I'd say Roosevelt would do his best to expose both sides but in seeing so he'll realize that the left has become too totalitarian. I'm a kid and I realized what the left has been doing since I was 12. Now I'm 23.
He could have run for a second term in 1908, but he let William Howard Taft be the next Republican President. When TR disagreed with Taft's policies, TR ran for president in 1912, under the Progressive (Bull Moose) Party, and received more votes and Electoral College points than Taft, but Woodrow Wilson, the democratic candidate, became president.
He stop being a Republican and was a progressive so aka a communist in modern mega Republican which is different ….. “ Christian conservative “ is just another way of saying you are for Theocracy
Got to love the idiotic description of the video "John Schrank fatally shot Theodore Roosevelt" well clearly not..... Edit: He finally changed the description 🤣
You are correct. People were more formal in those days. The crowd may have been chanting "TR! TR! ..." He often went by TR, or Theodore. When he was a little boy his parents called him Teedie, but I think one of his political opponents once called him Teddy, which was intended to be a put-down, inferring he was just a little boy. And so yes, he disliked the name Teddy. Most people don't realize that assassin's bullet, while not penetrating through his chest wall (after already going through his thick speech and his metal eyeglass case) did lodge in a place where doctors felt it would be dangerous to try to remove it, so he carried it for the rest of his life. TR truly was a great man, fully deserving to be immortalized on Mt. Rushmore, alongside Washington, Jefferson, and Lincoln.
One of the best presidents to ever exist and a total badass til his dying day. They just don't make them like him no more...a real warrior. Death came for Teddy Roosevelt and he just stared it down with no fear saying take your best shot pal..I can take it..
People are gonna shit on me but i don't care. July 13, 2024 was shades of October 14, 1912. I don't doubt that had he had his way, Trump would've kept his speech going too. But we take the safety of presidential candidates much more seriously now so he had no choice.

Teddy would spit in Trumps face. Teddy was a trust buster and an early environmentalist. He was for the working man, and performed actions that ACTUALLY helped the working man. Trump acts as if he was for the working man, but only helps the rich and himself.
Theodore Roosevelt miniseries by History. Available on Prime Video or the History Vault
This was the day Death realized that it had to wait and take him in his sleep. Otherwise there'd have been a fight like this.
Theodore Roosevelt: Oh no I’ve been shot! Anyway, I’ve got got a speech to deliver!
The real event had Roosevelt stop the crowd from lynching the assassin, instead grabbing his head to see his face and if he recognized the man before sending him away to be handed over to the police.
Teddy was more of a man then I could ever hope to be.

This is very entertaining all the actors did a fantastic job. But if you look up the way it actually happened it's far more impressive
Best republican president of the 20th century

it’s actually insane that the American public voted for Woodrow Wilson when teddy was on the ticket in 1912
@@beans00001 Wilson only got in by pure chance because the vote was split.
Eisenhower begs to differ
If he ressurects and runs for president oh i'll sure do vote him
It's a pity, of course, a person like Teddy Roosevelt, charismatic, positive, smart. America had a good president.
He also held Grant up there as one of the Presidents to aspire to. A worthy choice.

Teddy for this very reason is a god damn legend! Wish he would have won a 3rd term though...

I thought he read the speech from the car
He read the speech at a podium outside, and he was also shot at that podium. This is a show, it's gonna be inaccurate.
