The real fix is to say to Alexa "delete my severe weather notifications" and then tell her to enable them again. THAT will update your address, doing it in device settings did not work for me
Ahhh, thanks for mentioning that. I'll try that next time I hit across this issue. Good point that deleting the severe weather notifications can help reset the address.
All of the echo devices in my house have the correct address. The thing is just a bloody moron. I gave up asking it about the weather because it is always wrong. just for kicks, this morning I asked for the weather, and it said sunny with some clouds and a chance of rain. I go outside and the landscape is drenched. this is one of those things in IT where the company does not give a shit. Google is riddled with problems like this and none of those billionaire owners or overpaid engineers fix things. If you bring up a bug, they don't even respond anymore, they let the community of simps make excuses for them.
I have a problem that my severe weather alerts are given to me from previous places I've lived, but it gives me the local weather just fine in the good morning routine. I don't know how to get to stop giving me alerts from other places.
Hmm, this does sound like a bug with Alexa itself. The latest advice from Amazon support is as follows: "To remove notifications for a specific area, go in the Alexa app -> More -> Settings -> Notifications -> Weather. If you tap in to your old neighborhood, you can delete it. If you'd like to add your new neighborhood, just say "Alexa, tell me when there's a severe weather alert", and it will recognize your new location." I hope that helps 🤞
Sadly none of this applies to my problem. I have only one Echo, have had it for years, haven't moved in years, and suddenly it's giving very wrong weather. Last week we had a huge rain storm and in the middle of it I asked Echo the 'weather' and it said sunny (as usual) and then I asked if there was a chance of rain (mind you this was in the middle of a heavy storm) and it said there's only a 15% chance of rain. lol..
I just asked for Zihuatenejo, Mexico and they said in the 50's to 60's and rain. As I was packing, it was quite a depressing shock! I checked about 4 other sites on my phones, and ALL other sources give a 10 day report of high 80's and sunny, lows in the 70's. I asked "her" to spell zihuatenejo to make sure she had the right place, and she did. We did it about 4 times. So it's not MY address that she has wrong, it's the weather in a different city?!?!?
Hmm that's definitely odd. Maybe try seeing if you have weather alerts setup at a wrong address somehow (go to More -> Settings -> Notifications -> Weather under the Alexa app). Sometimes that can confuse Alexa.
I did all this. I made sure the location shown in this Alexa app is also my current home. However I still get weather alerts for my old home on my phone. Pretty weird, and annoying.
Sorry to hear it. I have heard of Google having a similar bug too - their facial recognition feature is banned in Illinois, but some people in surrounding states get it banned there too. Sometimes the IP address location databases are wrong, and it's quite hard to fix.

This is what worked for me after trying everything else. Glad I found this comment!

Hmm sorry to hear that. That sounds like more of a bug in the software or data, but I'll keep an eye out in-case I find other things to check.

Sorry to hear it, that is odd 😔 There does seem to be bugs with Alexa in this area.
Same
Sorry that you're also impacted Kenny. I'll keep an eye on things and try and see if I can track down other causes of these bugs. 😔
Zip code in Cwmbran?
Regardless of what I do Alexa says I'm in the wrong state in United States.
I've tried your guide
