Abused in the first movie... In the book they where as powerful... If not more... Indeed if u recall dunkan set up traps for them... And they detonate a couple of times... This is not said in the movie... But it's implied... And it was probably in a scene that was cut... Also... From the God emperor of dune we know that lasers cannot harm warms... No matter how powerful... So... Yea again... It wasn't said... But all thing considered this battle was OK... They outflanked them... By destroying a mountain.... So it made sense that the sardukar didn't have protection from that side... The scales are... Ok in my opinion... Also in this universe a real battle between 2 army hasn't been fought in ages... So again... A mess is to be expected

We see nothing that suggests lasers and shields causing nuclear explosions, that is entirely your own interpritation. It is not explained at all in the movies that lasguns and shields cause nuclear explosions. Fremen dont use shields. We see that missiles and lasguns are common and extremely powerful. Yet in the final battle they ignore everything they have shown us. But had the Fremen army been present in any other battle in these movies, they would have been slaughtered.
They also never explain why u need a mentat... They are simply shown doing calculation... Again... I agree with you and I would have loved for this movie to be 80 hours long 🤣... But a bit of lineancy and artistic freedom it's in order... Also in the movie they show us explosives that slows before impact... Rendering shields useless... We see firemen using Lasguns to destroy stuff that could have been shielded... Again I don't disagree with your points... But then again... We don't see a lot of stuff... We don't see why Jessica is a menace and due to his training she will manipulate everyone to the holy war... And Paul knows how this... But all things considered...its a good movie
The biggest sin for me... It's the removal of the spacing guild part... In the book they are super central... They are the one that want Paul dead... And in the end... They are the one that coronate Paul emperor... Because the power to destroy a thing is the absolute power over it... But there are no guilds man there and it's played like a political move in the movie... Again... I understand the reason... But it's less stronger as a plot
I am not a fan of this duology one iota. As far as I'm concerned it completely disrespected the book its based on. The Baron is portraited as a fat idiot, they missed out key scenes which are there to provide important context, Princess Irulan had all her scenes cut from the first movie, Space Folding was changed completely, and the Harkonnens were comic book villains. Someone please for heaven's sake make Due with the adherence to the source material the mini-series was with the special effects from these two movies which is frankly the only thing going for them.
I can't say that I disagree, now that you point it out. I mostly wonder if those silent streches in the video is your headset acting up, or if you are having a few minor strokes? ;-)
Agreed, the battles all suck. The fremen hide and hand fight the harvester guards only to blow up the thing at the end. Villeneuve Spaits and Roth non-tactical silly writing. The storm in the final battle was supposed to be so severe that all thopters were grounded but book shmook.
@SkruffyTalez_TheNerdZone firstly not having shields and not using shields are two different things. Secondly, they do use missles on them. Finally they have troops that have trained to fight people who have shields all the time, why would they give them the training neccesary to use those weapons on what they beleive is at most a few thousand almost sub humans?

The battles in Dune were exactly as they should have been. The descriptions in the book of the battles, Youi know . "The Book". Dune. One of the greatest Sci-Fi books of all time, were just a paragraph or two long. Paul and the Fremen had the upper hand. That was shown in all of the adaptations of the book. Lynch's movie. Scy-fy Channel miniseries and the latest movies. When something is depicted as it was originally written. It is the "best". Not the worst. The whole subject is so off base to what Herbert wrote. The real "battles" in Dune took place in the minds and souls of his characters. Seems like a wasted effort trying to make something into something else.

@@donny1960it doesnt happen in the movie! The Fremen attack without the storm and if the badguys had used one or two lasers the Fremen army would have been destroyed. The lasguns the Fremen used against the harvester, imagine if the Harkonnen used those into the mouths of the worms. The las-cutter the Sardaukar use after they killed Duncan Idaho, imagine 3 of those used against the charging Fremen army and just sweep them back and forth. The Fremen need the storm to have an advantage but in the movie they ignore the storm! 😂
@@donny1960 dude, the Fremen literally charge the Sardaukar without any sandstorm stopping the Harkonnen or Sardaukar from using any weapons. The worms leave the storm during the attack leaving them wide open for attacks with lasers and missiles. Add lasers snd missile barrages to the last fight... what happens to the Fremen army?
I was so disappointed with the second movie, and somewhat the first, it just seemed like most the film was people sitting on sandunes and talking. With some CGI here and there. Nothing amazing. Even the end fight scene was a let down just follow the book ffs
