The great thing about living in the Quad Cities is, it doesn't matter if you live in Iowa or Illinois, we treat all of the towns like one. Then again, maybe it's just me. Even the QC Area towns, like Port Byron, Le Claire, Geneseo, Clinton, Milan, Blue Grass, feel like family. Find a place, settle in, and go exploring.

McClellan Heights and the East Village were once an army training camp named Camp McClellan. Established in 1861, it was renamed Camp Kearney in 1863 when it started housing members of the Sioux tribe as prisoners.

I live in the quad cities and can safely say Davenport’s is the second most geto area of quad cities now there are some very rich areas in Davenport’s the most geto is rock island btw the quad cities is more like 6 cities because some people consider Bettendorf part of it it’s not some people,e don’t consider eat moline part of it any more it is and some people think rock island is not part of it anymore and there’s another one that’s probably considered part of Qc

alot of the large homes described were cut up into apartments years ago in the 1960's & 1970's. as discussed many are being restored back into single family homes that they once were.

There are parts of davenport that most thought was bettendorf. If you go out north on Utica Ridge road and turn right on terrace Park Dr if you go down one block then turn left that's davenport. On the right side of that street is bettendorf. Same if you go out past 53rd.its davenport all thru that area.

@@steeledge8145There are a few. 1) just northwest and west of downtown, 2) east of Brady, west of Jersey Ridge, south of Locust but not along the river (though there are pockets of non-ghetto there too), 3) Ridgeview neighborhood in NW Dav, 4) west of Welcome Way and north of 53rd, behind the Menards on Welcome Way. There are other ghettos too but that’ll give you a start.

Delivered to these homes for years with UPS. From forest rd on is davenport. Some of those homes you showed were in bettendorf. The hamburg district is being flipped into multi-unit apts for st ambrose and palmer students. Most of the davenport past bridge is owned by slumlords. It was my route when the 324 main building collapsed. The needles are everywhere. Avoid gaines to division and locust to the river. The homeless and drug addicts are a huge problem. Up towards 280 along locust and kimberly are probably the nicest bang for your buck homes. If youre going to move to davenport, move to areas along 280. Public schools are trash, but they have great private schools in the area.

Ive learned so far in my time in Davenport you really got to be careful or really look into landlords if your renting cause me and my friends got screwed over by 2 different landlords in davenport and apt on the coner of 7th st and farnam st and 816 e high st the 1st one was a rental company that supposedly shut down or disbanded its office at one point and had a had a single person take over control over that apt and wanted to evict us cause we was claimed to have caused a bug problem and caused issues that wasnt true other than we did end up helping a couple friends that took up more space than you are allowed for a 2 bedroom apt so we moved to the second place i mentioned which didnt look bad but was in worse shape then it 1st appeared old plumbing non working air conditioning we had the second floor apt which was 3 bedrooms one bath but we also had an attic space we was allowed to fix up and make 2 extra rooms the landlord agreed to let us all move which obviously wanted us to do the work and fix up our half of the apt for them and failed it was abit to pricy for what needed to be done that whole building needed to be redone badly and lost some stuff and we should have figured right away we would have been screwed from the beginning cause me my now ex gf and only 2 others was named on the apt agreement but she only wanted at least 1 of us to sign it she didnt have us all on it and have us all sign it and we got hit with an eviction after a couple useless court hearings to stall for time to find a new place to move and idk if it still is or not but last i seen a month or 2 ago it has a red tag meaning it was condemned and is unsafe to live or rent it cause of plumbing water damaged mold electrical issues i mean the place was build in the 1900s im pretty sure it was a 2 story house that was Butchered into 2 apts one bigger than the main floor and not done properly or lacked proper care the last few years and found out some time after we moved in there was a few tenants that moved out hand complained about the lack of care from both the previous landlord and the current one that owned it when we moved in. But i did learn one thing most of the apts i could afford on my own would be in davenport than what can be found more so than i can find in bettendorf side of town

Ok, my turn. I've lived here since 79'. Grew up on Kirkwood on the Eastside. It was a lot of fun growing up here. Nice middle class homes. The Heights were where the wealthier lived, because you had a great view of the sunsets and natural park and water connection feel. Where the Westend (that floods) is where the poorest in town lived. The Quad Cities and Davenport are the only spot where the Mississippi goes East and West. In the early 80's and 90's it was nice here. A lot of great memories.
Now lets talk about other things. THIS TOWN IS A SH*THOLE NOW! The town is growing Northeast expanding all the while neglecting the West End. They now have a food desert as the groceries store is closed (and not because of theft). Now let's talk about crime. Oh, this place has turned into a crime ridden gangster's playground. We're 3 hrs West of Chicago so their folks move here and bring their bs with them. The whole lower Eastside is crime riddled. Right behind The Village is gang infested areas. Shootings all the time! Town is just too crowded now. The police maybe 1% of the time pull over speeders (driving crazy is out of control). Cops are too busy working the grids of the bad areas like where I grew up which is now gang infested. I live out in the country now and love it! There is nothing to do at night in Davenport. Everything closes by like 10pm. Yeah, don't move here. THIS PLACE IS AN OVERCROWED SH*THOLE! But, I love the country in Iowa! God's land.

Well one good thing about davenport is you have to be acting like a complete idiot for the cops to mess with you. They simply have bigger fish to fry. I live in bettendorf and while it's quiet you better not speed thru here because bettendorf cops have nothing better to do here.
