I agree! If I were a manager there I would have the food laid out on tables in the back and whatever my employees wanted they could have...I would consider it the least I could do to help my staff...and what was left at the end of the shift I would take care of.

Oh wonderful you have an IKEA bag! Aren’t they great? I’d be lost without my 3!!! I use them for everything-dumpster diving, garage and rummage sales, grocery shopping... I never leave home without them!😉

Well, I learned something new! I had to look it up, and here’s what I found: What is annatto?
Annatto is an orange-red food coloring or condiment made from the seeds of the achiote tree (Bixa orellana), which grows in tropical regions in South and Central America (1Trusted Source).
It has several other names, including achiote, achiotillo, bija, urucum, and atsuete.
It’s most commonly used as a natural food coloring, as it imparts a bright color that ranges from yellow to deep orange-red, similar to saffron and turmeric.
Its color comes from compounds called carotenoids, which are pigments that are found in the seed’s outer layer and many other fruits and vegetables, such as carrots and tomatoes.
Additionally, annatto is used as a condiment to enhance the flavor of dishes due to its slightly sweet and peppery taste. Its aroma is best described as nutty, peppery, and floral.
It comes in several forms, including powder, paste, liquid, and as an essential oil.
SUMMARY
Annatto is a type of food coloring agent and condiment that is made from the seeds of the achiote tree. Its vibrant color comes from compounds called carotenoids.
Potential health benefits of annatto
This natural food coloring has been associated with various potential health benefits.
Antioxidant properties

Antioxidants are compounds that can neutralize potentially harmful molecules known as free radicals, which can damage your cells if their levels rise too high.

Antimicrobial properties
Research suggests that this food coloring may have antimicrobial properties.
In test-tube studies, annatto extracts were shown to inhibit the growth of various bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli (7Trusted Source, 8).
In another test-tube study, annatto killed various fungi, including Aspergillus niger, Neurospora sitophila, and Rhizopus stolonifer. Moreover, adding the dye to bread inhibited the growth of fungi, extending the bread’s shelf life (9Trusted Source).
Similarly, one study found that pork patties that were treated with annatto powder had less microbe growth than untreated patties after 14 days in storage (10Trusted Source).
This research indicates that this food coloring may have a promising role in food preservation.
May have anticancer properties
Early research suggests annatto has cancer-fighting potential.
For example, test-tube studies have found that extracts of this food coloring may suppress cancer cell growth and induce cell death in human prostate, pancreas, liver, and skin cancer cells, among other types of cancer (11Trusted Source, 12Trusted Source, 13Trusted Source, 14Trusted Source).
The potential anticancer properties of annatto have been linked to compounds it contains, including the carotenoids bixin and norbixin, and tocotrienols, a type of vitamin E (2Trusted Source, 11Trusted Source, 13Trusted Source).
While these findings are promising, human studies are needed to investigate these effects.
May promote eye health
Annatto is high in carotenoids, which may benefit eye health (15Trusted Source).
In particular, it’s high in the carotenoids bixin and norbixin, which are found in the outer layer of the seed and help give it its vibrant yellow-to-orange color (16Trusted Source).
In an animal study, supplementing with norbixin for 3 months reduced the accumulation of the compound N-retinylidene-N-retinylethanolamine (A2E), which has been linked to age-related macular degeneration (AMD) (17Trusted Source).
AMD is the leading cause of irreversible blindness among older adults (17Trusted Source).
However, human studies are needed before annatto can be recommended for this purpose.

I grew up eating foods with Achiote in it ( Annato food coloring ) A Natural food coloring and flavoring. This Natural spice/coloring is used commonly in Filipino cooking. Yes, my Mom and now I use the Sazon Goya flavor packets in our Filipino cooking. Can be used in ALL cooking. Back then in the 70's, 80's, 90's, my Mom would buy the Achiote seeds and soak in a little water to extract the flavor and color to add to her cooking.

MY TIP OF THE DAY~HOPE IT HELPS!Another trick to help with snow and freezing rain is. Instead of a expensive car cover, just buy a cheaper tarp. Throw over your vehicle, tucking under windshield wipers and crack the top of doors. Shut into top of doors, then when storms over. Start with untucking from under windshield wipers. Then open doors enough to get tarp out. Decide which side you want snow to fall on. Pull corner of tarp that way and pull. No snow and clean vehicle, it also helps with keeping doors from freezing.

I started cooking w Sazon last year. I just picked it up bc I wanted some different spices on our meat. It's delicious on chicken!
I love Adobo but I think all varieties of Sazon have MSG in them which sadly, I can not eat. I haven't checked a box of it in years. Maybe they changed it.
@@denisemaloneypiren3937 I just checked my box and it says no msg. They must have taken it out. I've only been using it a bit over a year. I even mix a tad bit w scrambled eggs. Makes them look weird..but I do a potato in the microwave a few min to soften..then put in a pan w either a little olive oil or butter snd and mix the egg at the end w some sazon. It's so good & really inexpensive.
The plastic at the top is usually for organic bananas. I love pigs in a blanket during the holidays! Pizelle ice cream sandwiches. Yum!! Just dust off a half inch of the open flour area and the same with the powdered sugar.

I hit the local Aldi bin on Saturday. Scored 7 bags of mini peppers, two of organic oranges, 5 pints of blueberries, a pint if strawberries, a chocolate cake, and more. ❤️Excellent!

What’s nice is when u want to bake or make different dishes, u have most of the ingredients. I want an orange right now and grapes. I would have taken those open grapes and just clean them with Dawn dish washing detergent.
16 oz jar of peanut butter and cream cheese frosting microwave them 2 minutes each mix together pour in square pan wait for it to set peanut butter fudge

Sazon Goya is an absolute staple in Latin cooking. It is delicious. Put it in a pot of beans or a soup or to season meat. That was a good find.

Annatto is a red pigment plant used to make rice yellow/red.
Achiote is "atsuete" here in Philippines,, they are dried seeds which you have to soak in warm water for you to be able to extract it,, it is used to make meat or vegetable dishes look more appetizing with its red orangey color and distinct flavour 😊

Another thing you can do with overripe bananas is freeze them, then put them in your food processor with a little coconut milk, a pinch of salt, a dribble of honey and some vanilla and mx it until it turns into soft serve ice cream. Your kids would love it and it's soooooo good. Try it!

Just make cocktail -pigs instead of pigs in a blanket. Cook them in a barbecue sauce and add other sauces like steak sauce little mustard maybe. Whatever you think would taste good. I did that on chicken wings when I had more chicken then sauce. I just add things including a second type of babacue sauce just not as much.
I'm so grateful that you dumpster dive because I cannot believe the amount of food that they throw away at Christmas time when some people are so hungry seems like if they couldn't donate at any other time of the year that they would at least at this particular time

We use streaky bacon for wrapping the sausages here in the UK. That’s our pigs in blankets. Never heard of wrapping them with dough! May have to try that myself! Great dive guys!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍💜💜

In England your pigs in blankets would be a version of sausage rolls. We do our pigs in blankets by wrapping the sausages in either smoked or plain streaky bacon. But wrapped in crescent rolls sounds nice.
