I actually teared up watching this, Tyrion was intelligent, had compassion, cared for his friends and if groomed properly would have made a great ruler as hand of the king but instead Tywin simply cannot bring himself to like his most capable child just because he is a dwarf(something he did not even choose), that's what doomed Tywin, he was never able to look past his hatred to see how much potential tyrion had.
There’s actually a scene in the books between Jamie and his aunt when he goes to end the siege on Riverrun; they talk about Tywin’s son and Jamie says he was there all along, and his aunt tell him that he is funny and brave and a good man, but that Tywin’s true son and heir (in terms of his intelligence, justice, everything that made Tywin great) was Tyrion through and through.
@@davematthewsfan Jamie might not have been as intelligent as Tyrion but he did possess a strategic mind, i believe Jamie would have made a decent ruler, it's just his whole incest thing and dick personality that puts him low on list.
I came here right after I rewatched this scene. I was young back then when I first saw the episode however, now that I am an adult, it hits differently. Tyrion did his best not to become the villain they think he is. I was so moved by this performance.
I think GRRM could write a hell of a script, he just have to allow someone update it so it works for screen. GRRM would of had to much novel to it which would of bloated screen time. How the show translated the book is masterclass
@@distinguishedallureproduct879 You'd be surprised. He was a fairly successful TV screenwriter in the 80s and 90s and wrote one episode each in the first four seasons of Game of Thrones.
this was a masterful scene, but rather than pure acting, it was simply peter dinklage being completely honest about his dwarfism and how his character would truly feel about joffrey's character.
@@kmcd3020 Of course! It’s everything she’s wanted; a way for Tyrion to watch his only hope get taken away right in front of him, as well as bringing the metaphorical (and literal) axe down on him at last
When he demanded the trial by combat and his confession and anger towards Tywin for the trial, the reaction on everyones face looked like they knew he was innocent. I think Tywin at that point knew he was innocent but his hatred and respect made him pissed that he would just not die or lay down and give up
Okayy, I know he didnt actually mean it. but I find it funny that he said how he wishes stannis would burn the ppl of kings landing and how he wished he had enough poison to kill them all. And then he teams up with daenerys who literally ends up burning them all, and he's like: wtf?!!
I'm almost positive this is not the first time the people have seen this because if you were with anyone else or even just by yourself the reaction would be a lot stronger if you are invested. Then again having a camera on you you won't be able to get as emotional still taboo

tywin didn't hate tyrion because how he looks he hate him because he knows that he's the bastard son of the Mad King and he don't kill him because he's also the son of Joana his own wife
Tyrion: I demand trial by combat
Oberyn: Hmmm, Interesting.

not JUST that he was a dwarf but also because Tywin's wife, Joanna, died giving birth to Tyrion

Truly the only Lannister worth his salt, and I only deny Jamie because his true alliance and love is Cercesi.

Love when he says " I did not do it" he throws a eye roll in there💀🤣💀🤣
actually he was looking at jamie
D&D were wise to pull this from the book nearly line for line. They rightly had faith that Peter Dinklage could pull it off. And my god, did he.

I actually love the reaction of Oberyn Martell in this scene. He was enjoying the whole trial.😄
guess it was the last thing he enjoyed, if you know what i mean
@sakshambairathi6058 No, the fight was 😅
@@tahiraleem well the first half anyway
"And did you?"
"Did i.. what?"

'I wish I was the monster you think I am' always gives me chills. What a line. Dinklage's delivery too. He's incredible.
This was too epic to hear Tyrion break down
Always love obryns curiosity how he leans forward is so fitting of his character
I think it wasn't just curiosity. I think he now had a plan to kill Gregor knowing Cersei's champion would be ser Gregor

One of the best scene in television history
Still goosebumps 😢, what a writing and acting.
ive been on a trial my whole life for being a dwarf damnnnn this line is sickkkk
I love the way his family reacts. Jamie is obviously sad, Cersei respects it, and Tywin is annoyed.
You really think Cersei has any respect for him? Are you ABSOLUTELY sure? Cersei?

Tyrion “mic drop” after that Last statement. Layin’ it all out. Jaime: W…T…F 😧
That stare was sooo cold
Oberyn definitely got a semi when Tyrion said trial by combat.
When Tyrion chose to use the word Bastard every Lannister in the room(of course Tyrion included) knew that there was no way he would be acquitted
Okayy, I know he didnt actually mean it. but I find it funny that he said how he wishes stannis would burn the ppl of kings landing and how he wished he had enough poison to kill them all. And then he teams up with daenerys who literally ends up burning them all, and he's like: wtf?!!
To be fair he only meant the nobility of kings landing. Tyrion had nothing against the regular citizens
Power pack performance by the best actor of the series ❤
I can watch this all day...!!!
People seem to forget this scene when they watch Deanerys incinerate the city in Season 8. They have had it coming a looooong time.
That staredown was peak
Sometimes I love watching these nostalgic scenes, then I remember how it ended and want to throw my phone at the wall. 🤬
Season 4 man... what a season
Cerci does not having love for himm!!he cares his brother and sister 🙄😭from the beginning to ending 😁Best Lannister❤️among lannisters
Was that khal Drogo? 6:27
The demand for trial by combat wasn't a surprise. Tyrion did it once before. He always gets or tries to get others to fight for him.
5:30 hey Kal Drogo watching GoT 😅
Was I the only one that thought when he requested a trial by combat that he was going to fight Tywin?!
Yes.
Yes , yes you were...
I was worried the girlfriend was gonna be brutally killed or attacked during the trial- but I didn't expect her to completely turn on him like that.
eddard stark : trial by combat?
Jamie is the only good family to him, he's a goodish brother
So powerful❤
