I always learn something from your videos. I like the tip on hand stitching the rib seam at the bottom. Ive been sewing a long time and have never done that! Also I've been picking up tips on how to better use the grid lines on my cutting mat. Thanks so much, you are one of my top 3 sewing enthusiasts to watch 😁

Hey Stephanie! Lovely tutorial! I am new to sewing and therefore do not own that many sewing tools, such as a rotary cutter. Would scissors be sufficient enough when trimming the excess length off? Or should I purchase a rotary cutter before attempting to shorten my sweater? Thanks in advance for reading this even though it has been a few years since you uploaded this video!
Yes! You can totally use scissors. All you need for sewing is a needle, thread and scissors. Everything else is a bonus and you can add on over time. Happy sewing!
Oh good question. It was so long ago I don't remember what I actually used but if I was doing it today, I would go for a Jersey needle. But an all purpose would definitely do the trick. Happy sewing!
Hi, Stephanie. I’m coming late to the party, but I have a question: Why not take in the sides first and add the hem after? It seems to me that it might remove the need to stretch the hem band...but maybe I’m missing something?
Hi Cynthia! You are right I totally could have done the sides first. I think because I'm over 6 feet tall I just tend to want to sort out length before anything else. If the band would have been super small it might have lead me to do the sides first. But having a bit of tension there is good to keep it laying flat anyways. You aren't missing anything, this is just how my brain works I guess 😃
