Awesome route Dave reminds me of the back of mallaig in Scotland didn’t see a soul Always wondered we’re that path takes you 😊 nice video man fair play for carrying all that clobber I’ve gone back to the helm for summer
That brought back some memories. My first wild camp, as an innocent 15-year old, was next to the stream by the telephone kiosk. Between the midges and the noise of the stream I don't think I slept much. I climbed Scafell the following day.
Ey up Dave, Been mega busy of late, but have managed to indulge myself in all of your latest back catalogue of recent trips. Just simply great,I can't wait to get back on the fells again ,my right knee has been absolutely fooked. Recently retired now so hopefully looking forward to my time with the Grandson in the top meadow and finally out to pasture at long last. Take care you Ol'Darwener. Michael.😄👊🏕🥾
I walked the same fell several weeks back, but i did it from SeaThwaite via the Wallowbarrow gorge. Yes the area is magic. I lived in the Lakes for 14 years and never gave the area a glance (wrong move) i love the place, its so quite and the views are great. Caw, Stickle pike, very similar.
Hi mate, I've made myself a walk from fox field to Keswick which I'm doing next month and green crag is where I'll spend my first night so cheers for the video, looks spot on for a camp👍
Hadn't seen all of this. Doing a camp Monday with my old mate ( his last this year then I can get adventurous again) . Was thinking Harter fell. But this area had me tempted for sure......such an area....! The live from Greece was hilarious 😂. The cloud reveal in the summit drone shot was a banger......nice film Dave 👍
@@TheSoloSummiteer yes. It's gorgeous. 25 years ago I had two holidays in the Duddon. Went all over. Recently not been back ...just my recent Seathwaite Tarn trip. Be nice to see that side again. Forecast is great Mon/Tues .....so far 😂
Dave yet Another great video from a Darrener, just goes to show you dont need to camp way up high to enjoy the surroundings, i have one near me 517mtrs called Bouldsworth Hill great views not as good as yours were but still awesome and solitude to. keep them coming
Hey Dave, that was a really nice hike and camp. I love that countryside. did you try out that meditation mode on your light? Just curious. we'll I will catch you on the next adventure. Dwayne
Really enjoyable vlog Dave and what a stunning pitch. Good to see you're still using boots rather than trail shoes that seem to be favour. The weather has been dreadful over here in North Wales, never known it so bad. Thanks Dave for uploading such a fantastic adventure.
Watched this last Friday and camped just off the top last Saturday. Great little summit looking west to Isle of Man and east onto Harter Fell and the valley below. Cheers for the recommendation, was a dry, still night, really peaceful. Keep it up fella.
Love nearby Harter Fell with its stunning views. You dont need height to find the best views in this part of the Lakes. Always look out for your videos especially fron this area as its on my doorstep.
Hi Dave, brilliant mate. As soon as I saw the opening shot in the first few seconds I knew you were on Green Crag. It’s a belting little hill. Bit of bog trot which ever way you approach it, but well worth the effort when you get there. Superb that the rain stayed away for you. All the best mate Dave 😀⛰🥾🏕️
Hi Dave, yet another great video and fantastic scenery. I used to wear shorts and tee shirt during my summer day hikes / camping. Bitten by insects causing a rash. During hiking holiday in Scotland, felt a sharp pain in my leg. Pain eased off , later back at base, I noticed a tick attached to leg. Could see it pulsating - feeding off my blood. I removed insect and hours later red bull circle appeared. Returned home and visited GP surgery and nurse examined it. She told me to keep area clean and to contact again should condition persists. All the best Dave, from Philip.
Know what you mean Philip. Found 3 of the buggers on my last year when I returned from a Scotland trip. Got them off and no problems afterwards. Need to be vigilant 👍
For a moment Dave I actually thought you was having a pee at the start of that video 🤣 Bagged Green Crag Fell about two years ago your video bought back memories of how boggy it was, looked a great place to camp though. ATB Karl 👍
What can I say!! we absolutely love Eskdale we've explored all these Foothills most Birkett classified not many Wainwrights I think are the best Micro Mountains in't Lakes and Harter Fell is my favourite of the lot...Green Crag also another la'al belter...great video superb drone footage reminds me I need to take another trip down that way soon Have a great weekend bud tek care stay safe ATVB Andy and The ROCK STAR ⭐ 🙏🏻
Nice one Andy. Glad you enjoyed it. Yeah I much prefer the quieter areas of the Lakes where you can really “escape”. Hope to see you out there one day 👍ATB 🙏🏻
Great video and great you managed to get a bit of summer. That bog between Harter fell and green crag is always wet even after the driest of weather. Wellies rather than walking boots .
Great video Dave. Managed to catch a rare sight… a clear sunrise. This bloody weather is awful this year. We’ve barely had 2 days in a row without crap weather I was dying to see if that white car made it out the mud ok too 😂 ATVB Robert
I’d had just come off a camp myself from Upper Eakdale, as you was parked up haha. I was wondering where your video would be. I’d never thought of heading that way, but sure will after this, lovely stuff as always mate.
I've looked at Green Crag a few times but never actually got there. Your video has definitely persuaded me to get up there. There are a few very lonely Xmas trees in the Black Mountains in Wales - they are absolutely up to something!🤣🤣
Another belter Dave 👌💪👊 lovely to see you back in the lakes again. I was actually up there too for a week staying at pooley bridge. Yep Friday through Friday and yep the weather closed in big time I pity anybody who was up high caught in it proper disorientating impossible to navigate with out aides. Only managed hallin fell and gowbarrow as the missis isn’t a massive walker oh and Greenside mine 😉 Great drone footage too. 👌😉
Hi Dave I had a strong suspicion you were heading to Green Crag as you set off from the car! I was on there the day after the fundraiser. It was at the end of my last video 😊 I have never been up there before myself & cant understand why when I got there, always believed it was a bit disappointing…boy was I wrong. A stunning mountain & area. Gorgeous views & so so quiet. Never saw anyone either 😃 Take care mate Dave
Hi Dave, I did this as a short hike after a night on Hard Knott 3 weeks ago(when you were on Scafell). I went across the bog from the bottom of Harter Fell. I didn’t see anyone for 4 hours. It’s a great little fell. Nice video 👍
I've been up Green Crag a few times recent years, once from Duddon valley and Grassguards farm and twice from the Birker fell road, last time, earlier this year I was checking it out for a wild camp site. Never done it from Eskdale, might try it next time. Thanks for the video.
@TheSoloSummiteer nice one. I got the regular. I've got the big agness rapide which is awesome, but I added another similar mat to use so sarah can use my big ag over 3 seasons.
You're not bagging again, are you, Dave?! 🤣 Surely not as we all know you're not a bagger! Cracking video and I realised it was Green Crag from the opening shots and thought, it's about time you went up there, bagging or not! It's a corker of a wee hill and you're right about the view towards it from Birker Fell, such an expansive view with a gorgeous background, but the whole bit is a bit of a bog fest, even in dry weather. Agree about the dogs, by the way. If that had been kids or someone elderly, unsteady on their pins.
Another belter Dave, you have been lucky with the weather there 👌Good luck with the Mozi repeller , i hope it works . I had the first ever one of them type of things in Belize in 1984 and i can catagorically say that it was shite . It was supposed to imitate the buzz of the ones that dont bite which was supposed to stop the bitey ones from biting or that was the marketing that i fell for 🙄. It's weird how all the other insect life is disappearing but those nasty little buggers are thriving, if there was one species that i would like to see go for good its those horrible things. Lets hope we see a bit more of that sun over the next few weeks before summers done 🙏 ATVB
Great video Dave... I had a laugh when you said "to prove I'm not a bagger, I'm not gonna touch it"... Then a few seconds later you proceed to touch it whilst disguising it as asking what's the actual summit 🤣 I see you what you did there 🧐🤣
At this time of year you can see the Noctilucent clouds (about 85 km high, so still in the sunlight). About 90 mins after sunset. Easy to photograph, try a timelapse maybe?
Hey Dave,.........so envious, in a good way of course. How did you 'bag' such good weather? It's been rain stopped play everywhere for more or less all July so far. Everywhere I've been, it's been OK to walk, but camping's impossible!
Green crag punches above its weight. Great views. I did a round inc Hard knott, Harter and Green crag. That section between Harter and Green crag wasn’t too bad when I did it. Shame they don’t do a map with routes avoiding Wainrights, especially since your not a bagger😂😂😂💼💼💼💼atb
Another great video, as expected 🎉 You may not be a Bagger, but you sure are one silly b*gger sometimes 😂. Thank you for the views, the waffle and the laughs😊.
