It's impressive and quite a feat how they are managing to not travel through time, all the time. Apparently setting your alarm clock wrong causes something to skip some centuries back or forth.
That's how it also works in the real world. Set the alarm clock wrong and you wake up in the future way beyond where you should be waking up or way before you should be waking up.

Gosh. It's like everything can cause time travel in Star Trek. Go too fast around the sun, a confiscated Borg device, a mini singularity traveling through the solar system... the list goes on.
Just a couple years behind what is happening in America. 21 major cities in the USA signed up to become Smart Cities. It will be just like China if we don't vote! Smart buildings will use IoT sensors to reduce energy consumption. They would theoretically materialize inside solid matter, if its their whole body or covers their face theyd likely die, they might get lucky with a trusty chest high wall but probably couldnt walk after somehow getting out, until they got back to their own time anyway
Given the transporter can detect that they correctly rematerialised, I assume it would have immediately detected the mass through the temporal anomaly at the specified coordinates, and aborted the transport.
Two atoms cannot occupy the same position simultaneously, as dictated by the Pauli exclusion principle, a fundamental aspect of quantum physics. If an entire object were to occupy the same space as another object, the intense quantum pressure between their constituent particles would cause them to forcefully repel each other, resulting in an explosive reaction. This principle explains why a star goes supernova after its core collapses due to gravity.
The simply way to fix any errors when it comes to stuff like this is that I simply treated Star Trek as taking place in it's own alternate timeline compared to ours.
A few of the places Commander Sisko might have been heading to visit his sister: England, Ireland, South Africa, Oregon, Michigan, Tennessee, New Zealand, Newfoundland, New York, North Dakota, Nova Scotia, Kentucky, Ontario, British Columbia, Indiana, Illinois, Maine, New South Wales, Victoria...

I used to live there, and for the most part it's fine. Yes, housing is an issue. But transit isn't. Yes, property crime is an issue, but violent crime isn't. Yes, it's expensive, but that's what happens when you're one of the most prosperous cities on Earth; only equally-expensive NYC gets close to SF incomes. SF isn't my favorite place in the world, but this obsession with claiming it's unlivable is really transparently political. You're never gonna see one of the people posting this kind of thing acknowledging that SF has lower violent crime than Charlotte, San Antonio, or Indianapolis; it's right next to Jacksonville.

Y'know what is really sad is that lots of cities in the US have vagrancy laws and will put people in jail for sleeping in public and some cities that are getting push back against decriminalization of homeless laws. We're not far from seeing this type of thing happening in the US. My city has a tent city where several dozen unhoused people live. They wash clothes in the creek next to the bike trail, hang them on trees to dry, and stuff like that. A lot of these people have jobs and get plenty of food, stay clean with $10 memberships at fitness clubs or whatever, some get disability, food stamps and other government help. Most could not afford even the cheapest of homes even if they got together in big groups. It's almost just like a sanctuary district except for the fact that you can get almost anywhere in town on the bike trails. Fairly quickly on a bike, too. Some cities more affluent people piss and moan about seeing these people all over town, especially the ones on street corners panhandling within a few hundred feet of places with help wanted signs who only accept online applications. Some shit in our country is stupid and unfair. You just wait....... Sanctuary district type things will probably be a reality soon!
A microscopic singularity exploding is not a minor thing. It would likely be in the range of millions of megatons. Bigger than detonating all of Earth's nukes in one place.
So would your average warp core output. It takes a lot of energy to create a warp bubble and shove it around the galaxy while maintaining steady, reliable power to the entire ship.

When you find yourself in the future, observing the past that was once envisioned as the future, it is as if you stand on a precipice, gazing at layers of time interwoven with expectation and reality.
